An organs and organ right? Or is it?
Down in Wales a few weeks ago returning some repaired PR40's and connecting up a lovely Hammond A100 and in the middle of the room was this giant Wurlitzer. Even better than that with it was the man who was going to be playing it that night and his engineer. He very kindly agreed to an interview and a look around, behind the scenes on how this mechanical wonder actually work.
I thought it was fascinating, I hope you do too - thanks!

I never cease to be amazed at the ignorance of so many people on how pipe organs work. Absolutely incredible.

Really enjoyed this. As someone who’s been lucky enough to play this organ and who’s heard it played over many years thanks for making it available and thanks to John and the team of people who keep it playing.

The section with all the percussive instruments and effects is known as the toy counter.

I can remember a couple of occasions last century, seeing this type of organ being played at the front of the movie theatre before the movie would start. I must admit the best part was when the house lights would dim and that organ together with organist would be lowered beneath the stage and disappear. I was a teenager and I knew that organ most definitely wasn't a Hammond 🤭

Great video! Have been to this venue several times in the past and heard the organ in concert. Sad to report that the organ's owner (John Smallwood), who I don't think appeared in your video, became unwell not long after your visit to Tywyn and unfortunately passed on just a few days ago.

Thanks Nick, for this video featuring the lovely ex Woolwich Granada Wurlitzer, now in Tywyn's Neuadd Pendre. I found the tour of the organ chambers, by John Smallwood, fascinating and really enjoyed the informative interview with David Lowe.

Lovely interesting video! Had never seen the back of a relay before, so I learned something new about how they operate! Well done also to David Lowe for his demonstrations and registration tips!

Nostalgia ...and we thought moving a b3 with 2 Leslies was hard...would be quite difficult to find anyone locally to repair...but, great video!

Everytime Nik goes near an organ I seem to hear 'Smoke on the water' ....the famous deep purple thing????
