The ads are getting out of control Dan, more ad than content. Once upon a time you wouldn’t have even posted this fail or at least not stretched it to 2 parts. Sure make a buck but give us something for it. You’ve changed, this was terrible to watch...

And I know this was a shorter video without finding the 'Prize", the weather was getting cold and I was not feeling well. So I checked the second creek, but did not have it in me to do anything more there. I will go back there in the spring. And yes I know that is one problem with going full time RU-vidr, I still have to make a living, so I have to find ways to make an income and still be able to feed my family. I get lots more time to make videos, you get lots more videos, but it comes with a cost.....Sponsors.

So I guess TLDR: dont blame dan, blame RU-vid for being Painfully greedy. I'm new, so I cant say much about the channel. But I can say this, maybe Dan changed, but dont blame him for it. RU-vid has also changed heavily over the past little while, and it has not been making life easy for creators. In fact I'd go as far as to say it's been destroying them. And so sadly, these adds are the only way to stay alive.. annoying for us, but deadly for our poor content creators..

We did some gold dredging in the First Broad River here in North Carolina and the sluice was FULL of garnets. I mean thousands and thousands. I kept a lot of them and used a light box to sort them. Great video Dan. 😁😁😁😁😁

Back in 1997 I participated in a 4WD tour in central Australia, and due to heavy rain were forced to travel back esst some 1200km, past a fossicking field at Mt Garnet few hundred km north east of Alice Springs. Here I forced a break for a couple hours, against initial objection by my fellow travellers and we picked up Garnets on old fossicking diggings ranging from under 1/4 inch to near 1/2 sizes, and did not even bother with tiny specks and grains. Finally had to force moving on, the rest of group wanted to stay longer. We left with a group (4 adults 3 children) total of maybe a kg or more of various garnets. Talk of people getting gem fever. Not all best quality, not transparent and tending muddy red-brown but still some facetable garnets included. Prior to that spent a couple of nights at Gem Tree camping area about 50km from another gem field, lots of zircons, which we also found several to over 1/2 inch size with a few hours digging. At neither place was any effort made on anything under about 1/8th inch, seems wasteful but given plenty larger examples were too eager for the larger ones.

We get alot of garnet up here in the new England area of the US. dry up your cons, place them on one end of a cookie sheet, tip slightly and give it a gentle shake. The garnets roll right out.

I called it! Wooo! Lapidary adventures!! Dan , do you have a flat lap and manipulator for faceting or cabbing machine? Its supposed to be quite relaxing as long as you stay away from the stones worth many thousands of dollars per ct. That is when its nerve wracking work. Id love to see some custom Dan Hurd ocean picture stone cabochons and sugarloaves . maybe doublets if done to protect and enhance the depth of the o.p.s . sold as a doublet. But a flat, highly polished piece of that (is it agate or non precious opal? Is there any true differances between agate and common opal without play of color?) and totally translucent layer of higher hardness material that can magnify the image , a slight fisheye lens effect may help add"depth" too. Then "cab" that . just an idea for your recovery time. Take care .

Edit: the day i wrote this i was inspired to go out to find more gold, I accomplished that goal way more than i found than the first time. i also found an 1/8+ garnet, if it weren't for your videos i would've tossed it out not knowing what it was.

Since you like garnetts, their is a nice star Garnett place outside of st Marie's id, Emerald Creek Garnet dig. That is if you haven't been their yet. My biggest one on my only visit was the size of a small marble 😆 but it was allot of fun.

Been my experience looking for bigger Garnet is you have to go deep. Maybe this coming spring you can get the boys together and put a big hole down get Paulie to dive down for the good stuff! @Dan Hurd, have you ever been to the Little Joe River? We hit a spot right on the border of Idaho and Montana. I grabbed a quick pan and there were layers of Garnet. Honestly, I thought it was fish roe at first glance. 1 pan in a Super Sluice left nearly half a pan of Garnet. A lot of good sized ones.

I love theses videos and they give me motivation to go out there and look around. I just have an old pack pack with 3 goldpans and a sluice box, my great grandpa gave me. I’m pretty new to this and I don’t know where in yakima washington I can go for gold. I just find micro specs and I’d like to know where I can go in washington close to Yakima for larger flakes

I think I found a HEAVY mineral deposit. Not too sure exactly what type it is, but there is like older beach/creek stream lookin cobbles and its packed with GRAVELS and black sands. It kinda looks like peridot/olivine kind of sands, got some black sand that attracts to a magnet. I think i have found just about every gemstone under the sun as well. I need some help identifying METAL ROCKS, and METAL ROCK WITH GREEN OLIVINE FINES TO GRAINS TO ENTIRE 800 CARAT gemstones covered in like an olivine/peridot conglomerate type deals. Chrome Tourmalines I'm almost sure of. As with the green gossular garnets, hopefully they're 100+ carat DEMANTOID, most are so dark green that they look black and need a phone light to floresce cuz most have a very very thin black coating on them, I've posted pictures on my Facebook. I think I found a honey hole with the heavy irons and platinum group metals and even some peridot/olivine mantle rock bits, I found "bedrock" slabs of it not far from here. Our creeks start a local watershed that eventually flows thru Pittsburgh Pa. Plus with all the world class sandstone and limestone that was and is still being pulled outta just 2-3 miles away!! I found at the very least a placer deposit cuz they are known in western pa and all along northern pa and I found something and I need help!!

Where I live, Lewistown, Montana, is close to the place where the Yogo Sapphires are found. They are very pretty stones when polished. Knowish B.C. as I do, it is difficult to try to visualize the land covered by a mile of ice and no trees.
