The thing Ben failed to mention is one of the reasons I love On the Ball and that is that the movement from OtB at the kick-off is before the ball lands! So there is a good chance that you get a free catch roll when the ball drops!
Defensive is a great skill mid league after everyone has guardspammed their front line, it's a real spanner in the works. To be given it for free is even better...no spp increase for further skills and doesn't take up one of the six advancement slots. An excellent starting skill...
On the Dungeonbowl roster update from what I’ve seen, Throwers and Blitzers are 5k cheaper and Blockers are 10k cheaper than their BB counterparts. Will be interested to see if you do an updated College of Heavens vid to talk about how Amazons shake up that roster. Heavens has received two updates now, first adding some Norse players and now Amazons - turning a roster I have no interest in into one I’m quite keen to build a Dungeonbowl team for! :)
Seems that the regenerated Amazon team are all about disrupting the opposition. From the blockers with Defensive, to the snake man and frog lady stars who dodgestep where you want. A very technical team.
Dam op, its the opposite to the norse team but with more options. Hit and run. Without even looking at the the rules I would say using it with a frenzy is a no if you have no movement left. As you can't frenzy if you don't have any movement left. You can of course can use the going for it.
Just getting into blood bowl and find your video super useful in understanding the basic tactics and strategies for teams. I've bought into Norse and Amazons as they seem most fun as teams, but seasoned players suck their teeth and say 'good luck' a lot. What could possibly go wrong!
Sorry, Ben, there's a good chance that your beloved Gutter Runners may drop to fourth place on the totally unofficial DBBB best positional in BB20 Power Rankings, the Jags look intriguing. The ladies may have lost their four blodgers, but I think that will be a temporary thing in league play and what they have in recompense is quite unique.
Losing 4xBlock peices hurts the new Amazon roster a lot in tournaments, where a couple of those would also probably have guard. The offset however is this lot are gonna be a much better team for league play as traditionally in a long league that's where Amazon's started to lose their power. That Jag is disgusting. 1 Block skillup and you have an even better Blitzer than before. Even the new blitzers are better than the old once once they get Block. Conclusion: They're still good, but they're not coming off the blocks like Usain Bolt, now they're more Mo Farah. Takes longer for them to really shine.
I think in the league I'm going into next year they will do great. Somehow without starting with block it makes them safer when they get it mid way through the league. They have a lot more tools without base block making them oppressive early. They're just really fast and defensive. I like it more than old Amazons which I did fine with last league.
Is "hit and run" used after or instead the optional movement that comes with a "pow" or "push"? Additional is awesome to grab the ball after punch the enemy carrier
I don't think Hit and Run works with Blitzing. I agree with you that you blitzers double as receivers so Sprint/Sure Feet and Catch are good choices. The blocker would be good with Block and Stand Firm.
It wouldn't have worked under the old LRB rules, but in the new rules Blitizing includes a Block Action in addition to a Move Action. It would have to be written like Brawler to specifically disallow on Blitzes..
I find these roster very unbalanced. The blockers are maybe the best positionnal in the game, while the throwers are basically useless : poor thrower with PA3+, no sure hands, no viable target (no catcher), not even a good leader caddy since you have 1 linewoman + 1 team reroll for only 10k more and without spending any SPP.
This is how I feel... they essentially get 4 possitional players and that's about it... the numbers are so stiflingly low that you are gonna see essentially the same teams everytime. Maaaaybe 1 thrower to be a ball scooper... but the lack of sure hands is so bad at AG3+
Yeah it also seems a bit of a waste of the pass skill tbh. Think they would have been better going for a 'runner' positional. A fast player with Sure Hands and Sidestep, to add to this team's disruptive play style?
@@grumpfable yeah, who are putting catch on to try to receive the pass from this thrower… And how do you justify missing block or guard, or tackle, or any other more useful skills… This team needs a lot of work to try to show horn a passing game onto it. Sure hands instead of pass? All of the sudden the “thrower” can use on the ball on kick off return to give you burst of movement into a hand off to move the ball up the field with exciting traits. This team just feels so incomplete out of the box…
Disagree that the blockers are fair. Compare to chaos blockers. For 10k more, they lose AV, gain MA, Dodge, & Defensive? And 6 SPP is all it takes to make them Str 4 blodgers. What I want to know is what the formula for valuing players is, because apparently two skills are only worth 10k. Makes zero sense to me.
@@nathanstruble2177 mutation access is certainly nice, but realistically, how often are you going to chose a mutation over block for your first skill? And when that chosen blocker finally gets block, the Amazon is a blodger.
Hit and Run should be just that - not allowing you to move after. I’m good with the “escape” but not against Tackle or Wrestle. There is literally no down side to this skill.
How would it not make sense lore wise? Surviving in the jungle of Lustria, especially with all those dinosaurs running around, would require a decent amount of strength
@@nathanstruble2177 cause an orc is strength 3 and they have fucking gorrilla steroid infused muscles. A saurus is strength 4 and it is a literal dinosaur
I don't think GW is too concerned with lore, otherwise Skaven would have more expensive rerolls (chronic backstabbing) and animosity (they hate each other).
Also this is isn't even about the blo ker being female. It's more to do with it being a non-star player human. Look at Norse linemen and berserkers. Also it doesn't seem balanced game wise. This piece has it all as described in the video
