Amazon Basic 12 sheet paper shredder sensor cleaning 

This really helped! As is turns out, my model, although it is an Amazon Basics 12-sheet shredder, is slightly different than the one in the video. But conceptually it was the same, so disassembly was a little different: the bottom didn't come off, but once I undid the screws on the L-Brackets holding it in place I was able to get the entire bottom off (it snaps in and out of place)). After that there were seven screws but they were easily removed. There was a *TON* of debris in the compartment, including a partially digested piece of card stock kind of wedged over (but in directly interfering with) the sensor. I cleared all of that out and reassembled. Still didn't auto shut-off 🤨. I cleaned the sensor one more time with an alcohol-soaked Q-Tip down through the sheredder slot and that seems to have fixed it. I'm still a bit suspect that the sensor is going bad, but at least now I know how to get at it!! So thanks!! *** UPDATE *** It still wasn't working so I disassembled it again. I reseated and deep-cleaned both sides of the sensor. Seems to have done the trick; it's been working correctly all day!! The metal screws into plastic were really tough to turn so I hit them with a little oil and now they go much easier.

I love how they make the most common point of failure the hardest thing yo get to! Might sell more that way? ha

At 2:35 .... mine did not come loose and held on at the upper left corner (positioned like you have it). All five screws are removed. Your lid lifts off so easily. Update: I had to force my off and something broke; it might be something created to show that the unit has been tampered or disassembled. I was able to complete your process, get it back together, and unfortunately the unit still runs without shutting off. Might be blown censors though they looked fine. Way too much trouble to take back apart to replace. I would recommend that if people are going to do this, they go ahead and replace the censors.

Have you tried cleaning from the top with compressed air? I wonder if that'll work so you don't have to take it all apart.

My shredder stars but then it stops mid sheet. I tried cleaning the sensors but it didn't help. Any idea what else I could try?
