Amazon Centerpin Reel Best Reel On The Market ( For the money ) 

I agree with everything said. I also own both the Amazon reel and a CPR. They both fish the same, I did do the spool hack on the Amazon reel placing aluminum tape inside the reel housing to minimize the "Gap" as I was getting line inside the reel. I also awitched the bearings to $15.00 Apex 7, it spins like my CPR. Im not a fan of the version you have... that uses a thumb screw to undo the spool, as I real it loosens by itself alot. I went with the Phillips head screw, put a drop of lock tight on it and never have had any trouble since....Great vid man, agree with you 100%

Great topic! Interestingly, I also have a reel that I too bought on the cheap. . .though not as cheap as yours, but in the same ballpark. It's the Quick Shadow from D.A.M. (Deutsche Angelmarke - translation from German to English as German Fishing Manufacturer). My wife - who's from Bavaria, Germany, got it for me about 10 or 15 years ago while in Germany. She paid somewhere in the neighborhood of 55 Euros, which today is the equivalent in U.S., $55, so the same amount. I only discovered I had it a year ago after cleaning out our son's room when he went to college. I must've gifted it to him for a present - my bad. It was, however, unopened, in the box, so I put some 8lb. Trilene BG on it and gave it a whirl in the yard, fishing for the elusive grass carp. It performed remarkably well and I removed my Allock Aeriel on a 14' 2 - 5 lb float rod and replaced it with this one. Not that it was so much better, but it was, however, significantly lighter. I haven't fished it yet, I'm waiting to go out to Pulaski or one of the tribs in the area. Anyway, I appreciate the topic, as usual, you speak honestly and from the heart and that gives your opinion value.

I just picked this reel up for Christmas. I have it paired with a 9 foot ugly stick spinning rod (obviously I’m a professional😂) but I have a 13 foot light action blood run skein cane and I’m still trying to get the casting and everything down but so far I love it. It’s a great style of fishing

Now take the two screws out of the foot; drill one hole in the center; tap and thread it, that it will rotate 90 degrees and you have a jw young rolling pin. Did to mine also anodized in the basement and upgraded with boca bearings. Very pleased with results.

I have the same way to thinking about my gear. If I’m too concerned about scratching it a little bit, it’s just not for me. I’m fishing and not going to a gear exposition... hehe and we have to remember that day after day we are having all that propaganda to convince us to spend more... thank you 🙏

At the end of a 7 hour trip my BER helped me hook and net 19 Chinook on a Lake Michigan Triutary. Kept 3 released the rest best money I have ever spent.

I'm definitely gonna have to try one of them out and pair it with one of the Chinese $45 13' pin rods just to try my hand at centerpinning. I can't see spending the crazy amounts of $ some of the manufacturers charge. A colville is probably the only one I would consider just because they're so darn good looking. Loving the channel btw. I'm gonna have to make the 3-4 hour trip out that way to hit up some of those awesome looking streams.

I'm with you on this brother....if i'm going to invest on a float gear. I'd spend more on rod than a reel...

Those lower end centerpins break so easily whether its clicker or just screws falling out when fishing. The more expensive float reels may have a warranty. And keep your neoprene reel pouch on you and slip it on when you beach or tail the fish

You should make a video on fishing with this reel but with upgraded bearings that would be sick also if you do that make an tutorial on how to upgrade the bearings

I have this reel specifically and Its great but im looking on how to upgrade the bearings on the model with the thumb screw and cant find a video. Also the plate that the thumbscrew goes in to bent somehow and now i need to find a few spacers or something.

My buddy had this reel and it worked…. for a few fish… for a bit. Then the mounting part for the rod started to wobble obnoxiously bad. Then a bit later it decided to completely self destruct mid drift. Reel literally broke apart into all the pieces in the river, didn’t even know how that happens. Long story short he couldn’t find all the pieces to put it back together so it ended up in the trash. However, it is only $50 and he probably got his money’s worth. But you get what you pay for.

I saw those pins before I got reel into this ish. Ill tell ya if it catches fish homie thats all you need!
