It kills me inside when he interruptes Alexa. I know it's just a device, but I was raised to never interrupt. I'll be the one guy who unnecessarily waits for Alexa to finish her sentence.

It actually is recording at all times, but it only sends data once you say "Alexa". That would be too much data for the ram and bandwidth of Amazon.

Jimmy D I am a developer for "Alexa", she is web based... so yes... the data is sent on the "End-Point HTTTP mark-up", which takes up ram and bandwidth.

Towards the end of the video, when David said "Alexa" the LED lit up. No command followed but David continued talking. But it didn't make a Bing search. Is it smart enough to decide when to make a search and when to not?

If you have any inpit to the ides that amazon can work on for alexa you should suggest for it to be able to sync to fire tv both the hdmi plug in and the bigger set that resembles apple tv box because that would be cool sething like an xbox kinect type thing

The Amazon Echo is actually incredibly useful. Everything about it including the price was easily one of the best decisions to make if you have a family to share Echo with. Of course you can do many things on your phone that "Alexa" can do... that is not the point though.... Plus.... you spend 200 dollars... and you get a full year of prime... which includes millions of songs free to listen to while in home... the speakers in "Alexa" blow minds... the device is so small but it can go really loud and it has no distortion thanks to a system inside of it taking up to 50% of it... it reduces vibrations.

We have an an Echo and LOVE IT. For the prime price it is awesome. I'd have to really put some thought into it at $199. Only drawback is if you have a thick accent you will repeat yourself.

Hmm the echo does height in both the American way and the English way, but yet when the echo was asked the weather it only did in Fahrenheit and not also in Celsius
