It's crazy how many resellers would try to sell you this info, and you take time out of your day to provide it for free! And I'd wager the info here is waaaaaay better! I'm a firm believer that starting off is the hardest part of ANY endeavor, and this has made such a huge difference in how I'm approaching my reselling business. Thank you so much Mike, hopefully the karma your collecting from this deed is serving you well.
Yes, many sell info. However, it's quite simple. You give and then you receive. What you put out returns. Giving to others is also good for our soul. 👏🏽
Thank you Mike for this awesome video. This video alone helped to encourage me to hit up my Goodwill today and I found 39 books that will make a profit! (Western WA). Most of these videos are just to generate RU-vid revenue, yours are obviously for helping new pickers get on their feet.
your a legend for this, God has certainly blessed you and now you are blessing us, appreciate you, always love to see what you are up to and how you do it. Learning heap loads of information about how this business is done and done right. Thank you
Thanks for the update, my wife and I modeled our book selling business off your first video, just about a year ago, and it worked great! We are still having fun, even though we are struggling a little with sourcing lately. Goodwill is scanning more and more. Keep up the good work!!
I'm glad you are not trying to sell us any useless masterclass. For that reason, I have Liked and Subsrcibed both. Also, this video has far more value and was very well explained, better than those Fake Gurus. Thanks again!
Thanks so much for the easy to follow tutorial. I am a real estate broker, 71 years old and looking for another stream of income as the market is so unpredictable at this time. I am getting ready to ship my first order of books. Really appreciate it.
Hey Mike, I'm ordering my supplies and software today! I already have a stash of 30 boxes of books I've collected for free or on the cheap. I've already sold many high-end books on eBay and now I'm ready to jump into the deep end with Amazon. Hoping to get started at the beginning of next week (doing yardsales this weekend of course). I'll be referencing this video quite a bit in the next few weeks. Thanks so much!!! We watch you all the time:) Keep it up!!!
I am a single mother of 3 and im so tired of the rat race. I found out about this and im super new but i need to start today because this seems promising to me ❤ thank you so much for not playing games.
Thank you for this! Didn't know what to do with the books with no score. Threw out some good books! It's a learning curve but these videos are a huge help!
In Mike I trust! 😤. Needed the update video from Amazon shipment change with not seeing the "proceed to workflow" button from the year old video. Low and behold i see this UPDATED video and of course Mike is showing the new shipment process and I have relief. Actually Mike at least you will no longer have to click each and every unit to press "1" or "2" for each box. Thanks Mike, keep giving great value Coach ☺️
Thanks Mike!! Haven't jumped into FBA yet, though I have a few hundred books stored up, the Amazon account, Scout IQ and the Nadamoo scanner. I wanted to get the Ebay piece going first, but will take a look and see if now is the time!! Appreciate the education as always. I appreciate the time you take from your selling to help the rest of us!!
Great, in-depth tutorial! I’m new to this and not sure if it’ll help at all but I just ordered a zebra thermal printer with free labels from UPS. If you have an account with them you can get free labels and a printer for 3 bucks a month
Ok I've downloaded the 14 day trial. Mindset ready to change from the slow Amazon Seller Central. I hope my thermal printer works. Ok let's get it. Appreciate your help.
Thank you for this video, very interesting . Love that you are making money. Thanks again, I know it took a lot of time to produce this. Maybe I’ll get there some day!
Thanks fir the updates. There was one thing I had to check in amazon and thank goodness I did, something I meant to change and forgot. Thanks for updates.
Some good advice here. I started with Amazon and failed in my first year! Maybe i should do a video abt it?? I got to trigger happy sending what appeared to be decent books only to watch the price plumment... And a £150 FBA return bill a year later?! I will pull my FBA stock. Do MFA and watch videos like this to learn the craft. Thanks again😊
I have watched this video a bunch of times. I got all the programs set up thanks to you. I got all my books into Scanlister and then to Amazon and now I'm STUCK!! I ve been stuck here for a week. I have been all over Amazon for hours trying to find out how to fix it. I have also E-mailed them and no luck! Any idea where I can find the answer?? Thanks for all your information on this bookselling.
You ship out 7 boxes each week? We are trying to get 2-3 boxes out each week for now. Thanks for all your great information. I have learned everything from watching you.
Did Amazon just change the inbound settings? Now they have more options. No fee: Amazon-optimized shipment splits: You send inventory to multiple locations. Lower Fee: Partial shipment splits: You send inventory to fewer locations. Select inbound region: East Central West Higher fee: Minimal shipment splits: You send inventory to minimal locations and we'll spread the inventory. Select inbound region: East Central West
The new settings are causing major stress for sellers who send in high quantities of small items but as a media seller the placement fee for minimal splits actually went down from .35 to .23 Only issue for me is that I'm sending to an FC further away adding a day to the shipping process but not a big deal.
Hi Mike. Thank you for your informative video and willingness to help. I would like to ask for your advice. I would like to sell a large portion or perhaps my entire library, which consists of a few thousand books. Some are inexpensive, while others are quite valuable. All the books are non-fiction, with many on scientific topics. I've been researching whether I can sell them through Amazon. Could you provide your insight and guidance on what options might be available to someone like me? Thank you very much.
They will only tell you if you need approval at the time you send the book in. Apps like Scoutiq alert you to a book being restricted. It can take a couple of days or 10-14 days. you just need to build a consistent process of sending in books as fast as you can.
Great video as always. The community appreciates this info.. how many hrs a week would you say you invest in juat books alone? Im hoping my goal is invest about 20hrs a week to get to around 20k eventually.
Hi Mike, I love your videos. I just received approval on Saturday evening for FBA in the subcategory of books. When I scan the books into ScanLister, for about 50% I receive an immediate pop up Approval Required. For the remainder of the books that don't receive the immediate pop up, I am able to set the price and the grading, however when I click on FNSKU all but one book receives another pop up regarding inbound gating, etc. and it won't let me print the bar code. So I was only able to scan one book of maybe 20 total. Thanks for the help! Joe
I have heard people are having issues with that. Have you tried entering some on the amazon seller desktop to see if you get instant approval? I didn’t have those issues 4 years ago
@@goldenstatepicker that makes sense. I was just curious because I wasn't sure being as I'm new at this if it would. Thank you! I really appreciate the quick response and your videos! They have been so awesome working through the process of starting out. I just sent in my first shipment today!
I don’t have a seller pro Amazon account, maybe that’s why the first 5 books I have scanned “need approval” but when I go to apply it says “not accepting anymore applications for this book”? 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
Your videos inspired me to start this! Im knee deep in it, scouting and sending books in. (9 boxes so far) But. Since joining some fb groups recently, I'm hearing conflicting statements left and right. One side, buy those lower profit books and send them in ($2-$5 profit) vs ONLY send in books with a minimum $10 profit/low sales rank. Usually these comments are following someone new posting a screenshot of their amazon account being in the negative. These same commentors are saying stuff like, "amazon will eat all your profits in fees in the beginning ".....so I wonder....what are your thoughts on this? I know you're a one man operation and your scale is nearly exactly where I'd like to be. Your opinion would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to leave $$ behind in the stores but I also dont want to end up like those who posted screenshots and be in the negative. Thoughts???? Also. Do you have a trigger video? Im having an awful time with my app telling me a book is good and then my listing software tells a different story. Looking forward to your response. Thanks!
The on advantage I have is how I source my books. If you watched my channel you know that I find other stuff in those bins that more than pay for the cost of them. The rest that I put on AMAZON are pure profit situation for me, so a $2 profit book works for me. Now that might not work for others. Amazon is a volume related business. They do take fees as you have seen in my videos. One thing I do to track what I'm making is to go to Seller Central and scroll to bottom left look for Payments and look for transaction view. From there I will check all my books. I will also take the ASIN or SKU from some of those and see if what scoutiq is saying matches what I got paid for. I don't think I have had many books that I really sold at a loss. This is a business that just requires time to figure out what you want from it. It requires that you feed the beast books. As for triggers I use default triggers. I don't change anything. The way I do other books that aren't out of my bins is to just use the simple math. EX: I'm at a Savers the book is $6 and scoutiq says profit is $12...subtract the $6 and I have net profit of $6. Then I have to decide do I want to spend six to make six.
I need to resign for Amazon FBA but I forgot how to fill that form out. I cannot remember if I found the example form on your channel or someone else’s. Please let me know if you see this. Thanks!
You just might need to change your password and log in. To at least get to you old account. You will need to probably go through some more verification.
Mike, amazing video and really informational, so thank you. I do have quick question, I'm just getting started and will be waiting on the label printer for now, but does Scanlister print the 30 up labels directly? Or do I have to go into my Amazon SellerCentral account? I have the Avery 30 up 1" x 2 5/8" labels
Hey, I have been watching from the beginning but I usually watch on my phone. I am a 71 yr old seller. I have no time to waste. I am in Pa and I would really like to find a place to find gaylords like you do on wednesdays. I went to some of my local book stores and maybe because of my age, I don't know, they will not sell me gaylords of books. I offered 4 a month. Thats all I think I can handle. Can you possibly point me in the right direction on the east coast? Thanks either way brother. I like the way you do business. Gary Wallace Sr
Hey! Thank you very much for the great video! You help me a lot! I am from Germany and I wanted to ask if you think that the Buisness is also good in Germany?
How can you determine how many people in you city are already doing this? I live in a city of 100k so if a couple people are doing it the supply may be thin. At least that is what I am thinking. If you become an Amazon seller are you limited to only FBA? One last question. How much for a minimum profit do you have for a book to consider buying it? Thank you, thank you.
I'm in an area with millions of people. Same thoughts with pickers. All cities have them. I just go and do my thing and really can't worry about what others are doing. As for profit. If a book sells fast on Amazon I will make a $2. I can sell FBM also with the seller account I have.
Hey Mike, When first starting out how do you get past the "approval needed'' stage. Every book I have says that except 1. I have yet to send a book to Amazon, I am very new to this. It seems this is going to be an annoying issue. Your videos are awesome BTW!!
It never used to be that way. I do know that you have to go onto the desk top to make it easier to get approved. Are your books mostly textbooks or just regular books? Amazon can make it very difficult to start out. I have been doing it almost 5 years and don't remember have that many issues. I will have to look into this and see if I can find something out. Stick with it especially if you have a source.
OhEmGee Mike!!! You just kill me. ALL this work to help us - God bless your heart and THANK YOU!! I am feeling like a real sloth tonight - just watched this thru for the 2nd time, and had watched your first one like this last year. Hoping hoping hoping to finally get started this weekend - I used all of your links to buy everything you suggested, Arkscan printer, Nadamoo, etc. BUT - in trying to conquer my weird fears, I find there is one more question mark before I pull the trigger tomorrow .... Do I have to "do something" to handshake between ScoutIQ and Nadamoo and Amazon?? Meaning - when you have your book price decided and you are ready to scan the ISBN into the little box on ScanLister, does it just automatically populate there since my ScanLister is properly connected to Amazon.....or do I have to "do something" to connect my Nadamoo to Scanlister? Man...I don't even know if this makes any sense to you!! SO sorry for a long post. Thank you again for all of your videos. You are amazing.
It’s blue tooth. Just follow directions on the scanner. It will connect. Once it does it should connect every time. Open ScoutIQ and tap scan and start scanning upc codes. All the best
I'm getting a lot of "Calculated price fell more than your allowable percentage drop" in RepriceIt for my books in the Items Not Processed Report. Do I need to adjust any of the settings shown here? I copied them over from the video. Thanks!
How can you tell what other sellers are repricing to? I'd say 60/100 of my SKUs in inventory are falling into this category. I priced almost all using the automatic/suggested ScanLister price point. A good example would be ISBN 978-0060197360, it's giving me this error yet the price drop is below 15% (9.99 lowest vs 11.22 mine), Meow Neow is my seller name. I'm currently 2nd in the list of Prime sellers.
hi, i loved the video. i am actually trying to start but all my books amazon says that i need approval and i there's not an option to look for it... does someone knows what's going on?
They have gotten tougher on new sellers. I don't remember every having as many issues as people are having getting book approved. I'm going to look into it and see what I can find.
How would I change conditions on books that have already been sent into Amazon? I got about 7 listed as new and their my personal book I wanted to get rid of. I hope I don’t get an IP alerts😫
This information was invaluable, Mike, especially for those like me, who are just starting. So grateful to you for taking the time to update your previous video. But I have 2 questions. 1) when you got ready to scan books for the box to go to Amazon, you said you were switching to another scanner that was set up for Amazon (or at least that’s what I thought you said). At the moment, I am using my iPhone as a scanner. Do I have to set up something to differentiate between sourcing the books vs adding them to a list to go to Amazon or does that happen automatically when I open Scan Lister? Hope that makes sense. 2) I can’t afford a label printer right now. I noticed you clicked on a box to print a label after every scan. Is there a way I can make a different selection that allows me to wait till the end and print them all at once on 30 up labels? Thanks so much for all the help you give to so many. And I love the tip about keeping them from splitting the shipments. I haven’t heard that from anyone else. You are a great teacher. Just can’t tell you how much I appreciate your videos.
You can use the scanner you use for books as long as it is recognized by your computer. So it can the scan. All should be able to do that . You can set it up to print labels as 30 per sheet. I don’t have that on the video. Check scanlisters site. They should have a video. Or search RU-vid how to print 30 up labels amazonfba. Sorry not much help on second question
Hi Mike, Your video is the best!! Thanks so much. I hope you or someone out there can tell me why I am getting a shipping label for each book instead of 1 label for the box? I am tearing my hair out and I can't get help from amazon support. I AM a subscriber!
I just sent in my first shipment of books into Amazon and I added some of my own books that were almost brand new to the batch of books I got at savers but I started freaking out after hearing about IP Alerts with new books. I was about to finish another batch of 45 books of two boxes that I also graded as new on some of them. So my ultimate question is how do I go back in a regrade the conditions? I’m sure it’ll be a lot easier for the ones I haven’t sent in yet.
I’ve noticed that the shipping cost comes out of the amount of money in sales I’ve made and the current balance is in the negative. Is this normal at first?
Hi, Mike! Very understandable instructions....it's so apparent that you have had experience training employees! Thank you so much for your patient clarity! I'm seeing that I really need to order a handheld scanner to interface between my computer, Scanlister and Amazon. I thought I might be able to do it all with my phone, but now I'm guessing I will drive myself crazy!! My question....will it be difficult to set up the scanner to do this? I have not been able to find setup instructions on the Scanlister help pages. Thanks.
Just get a scanner and hook up via usb on computer. It will automatically fill in the isbn number on scanlister if the box is clicked in to begin with. Box on scanlister with have blue line around the box. Then once you scan the book it will pop up in that blue box.
@@goldenstatepicker thank you and have great luck feeding the beast! I really do not know where you get all your energy from to do Ebay, Amazon, and RU-vid, great job.
Thank you for this amazing video Mike. I just created my amazon account and waiting for verification. I noticed that Amazon will display my address on seller page. I will be utilizing my home address for now. Is there a way around this or do you just use your home address as well. Thanks for your time!
Great video! I have a question about restricted books. I had one that I found and ScoutIQ didn’t say restricted but scanlister did. I went to Amazon and requested approval to sell and it was granted immediately! Yay! But when I go back to scanlister, it did not realize that I have been approved to list it and I don’t know how to bypass scanlister so I can actually list and ship the book off to Amazon. Any thoughts? Thank you!
Everything was going great until today I got an update. I live in Texas and have always shipped to dallas fort worth warehouse and now it’s splitting my shipment and I’ve never been split before and on top of that it’s making me pay extra for shipping and it’s making me ship 17 units to Vegas and 1 single book to Arizona. We have the same settings. Let me know if you know a fix.
I needed to verify my address again for some reason. I got the postcard and verified my address again and went to finish my shipment and I didn’t get split but this time it’s charging me $22 to ship to Vegas instead of the $10-$11 to ship to Dallas. I called and they said the Dallas warehouse is full and I could pay the extra $10 or wait a week or two and see if they let me ship to Dallas again. Lol Amazon doesn’t make sense sometimes but God bless and thanks for the help!
I am trying to send my first FPA shipment and once you go to the shipment page that first button do you click where it says total prep and labeling fees and you’re says zero mine says $7.70. I think I need to pick somewhere in settings that I will print my own labels but I can’t figure out how. Any help at all? Thanks so much.
@@goldenstatepicker thanks for the fast reply. And no I’m talking about right now I’m being charged $.55 per unit labeling fee. I just got off the phone with Amazon and they said it’s a setting that’s on the third party app/scanlister that I need to change. Do you know where on scam Lister I mark that I’m going to be doing my own labeling?
I keep getting this message when I try to send to amazon: Cannot send data to your Amazon. Please check: - Confirm if you connected Scanlister to a correct Amazon account. -Does your Amazon account has any listing limitations on Amazon? Does anyone else get this?
@@goldenstatepicker Yes, I did. It communicates because it tells me I must get approval to sell some of the books, and then I get that approval, and I am allowed to move forward. By the way, I really appreciate your videos. Thank you!
Hi! Can you please tell me how you package your books to ensure they don't get water damage or any other damage? Do you protect each book individually as well?
Nothing special. I use the plastic wrap that is linked below by videos. Jar link is the brand. I make sure the box is in good shape. Most of my books fit in record album boxes and another box that I also use from Amazon. All are linked below each video. I can tell you I have never had one issue with water damage from a delivery. I have shipped thousands of books
Thank you so much!! Just to make sure I understand, with the jar ink plastic wrap, do u wrap each book after the barcode is on, or only box sets? Or do you wrap the whole box in it and then apply the postage label? Really appreciate you sharing all your knowledge!!
Hey Mike! I’m stuck. Idk if you’re familiar with this issue, but on my first try listing with Scanlister, I got this error message, “Cannot upload file to Amazon. Error: Create feed: The encrypted feed document contents were not uploaded to 53”. The accounts are connected and approved. I searched everywhere for a solution but couldn’t find one. I did message Scanlister and am awaiting a response. Thanks!
@@goldenstatepicker For some reason, your Scanlister looks different from mine, but I did make sure I chose preview FBA. When I click to make the order, I get the error message. Hopefully, Scanlister gets back to me with a resolution. Thanks tho!
For books/media, there is no reason to price down $.05 to win the buybox from someone else. (Currently) $.01 will do it. If you are going to undercut, then at least slow the race down by doing $.01.
I don't undercut anyone. The market is being set. I send in solid books that sell and that's it. A nickel is what I do. It's not a race to the bottom unless you aren't making any money then you have to blame something.
@@goldenstatepicker I’m not using “undercut” in the derogatory sense, but factual. Much easier to say undercut than say price under by $x. And just saying that .01 works exactly the same as .05 as far as the buy box goes. I’ve tested it over and over. If matching, then it will go to the best condition offer of the buy box eligible offers. And “race” down is just terminology as well, used in a good way I think, to make new sellers aware of the risks of many sellers using repricers at once with the setting to, ahem, undercut (or price lower than). Just info I hope will help us all out.
Hi, great video, thank you! Could you provide just some insight on how you're doing $15k in sales per month. I'm still a relative newbie - been running my butt off for 6 months with current inventory at 1,100. I'd appreciate any time management and sourcing tips. I'm starting to look into bulk (time saver & less cost per book), maybe get someone to help me source, trying to figure it out. thanks again..
How do I request a fulfillment center to send me back a package? My very first package still says delivered status, and I have done three other packages since then. But I have a feeling that it has something to do with the shipping label since I couldn’t get it to print properly my very first time
You can request individual items to send back. That box might have gotten split and items shipped to other facilities. Look on the shipping section for that box click it and see if it shows that it has been split.
Is there a way I can reach out to you personally? I just lost my job today and I’m looking at it as a sign from the universe that this business I just started will work but I need to make a higher volume of sales. I’ve only made $150 this week which is my first week of making money but I’d love to talk more about how to turn my volume up so it can become my primary source of income
Well, I have to wonder about the information presented in this video. Approximately $200 worth of hardware? Please do the math. The cost is over $400. Mare thsn double...
It would be nice to talk to someone to understand what I’m doing wrong. Because I’ve sold a fair amount of books as a beginner and I would think I’d have more money than I do
@@ehye2778 what you see in the video is exactly what I do. Are sending in books with good escores and profits? It’s a volume game. You have to push books in on a regular basis. I have 1900 books in inventory right now.
