Any item that makes it into my already too small kitchen must be 1. Functional 2. Stylish and most importantly 3. Highly durable! Which of these do you already have in your home? Any others I need to add to the list?
I was happy to hear your review on the granite sink, that just ensured me even more that we made a right decision on ordering one for our laundry room in gray color. Love how it has the drain to the side not in the middle. I like to watch videos like these. Thank you so much for your hard work and happy parenting ❤.
Julie, I have had the Blanco sink in Truffle for 12 years and I absolutely love it! Unlike stainless steel, no scratches, mandatory grids on the bottom or hard water stains if you don't completely dry it out every time you use it. Best tip ever given to me. After cleaning the sink, dry it and using a microfiber towel, or any cloth rag, rub in a coat of Liquid Gold or Pledge furniture oil. It MUST be the oil. It will instantly bring back the sheen and make your sink look brand new! My niece recently bought a house that had the black Blanco and hated it because it was drab and looked faded. Once I rubbed in the oil, she was stunned and thrilled with her sink!
I hope it works for you. I use Bartenders Friend to clean. I was shaking my head in agreement when you spoke about the sink corners because everytime I see a marble or soapstone sink on the internet or design shows, they seem shallow and have straight corners and no slope towards the drain. Much harder to clean. I have Emtek for all of the doors in my house and I specifically bought closed end kitchen pulls when I redid my kitchen 12 years ago because I was always catching my clothes at other people's homes! Great minds....One thing I don't understand is why people would want leather pulls or cup pulls in the kitchen. Your hands are wet or you are in the middle of cooking or any number of reasons why you want to be able to easily clean your pulls.
@Jennifer Shevin I have a friend that has straight corners in her stainless sink. They are hard to clean, you have to take a knife In a dish cloth to get in corners and edges.
Thank you for doing the leg work! I go on Amazon and end up spending hours on reviews. You have picked things I would never have thought of so Thank You for sharing your kitchen. That ice machine though....my freezer is packed and barely room for ice cube trays. But and iced coffee or sparkling water with those little nuggets??!! I think I need to start saving. But yes the extra clutter. I'd love to see under your cabinets too. How you store your flour, sugar, dried beans etc. Have any favorite storage? Thank you again for this awesome video.
Loved the video Julie! Just watching it gives me ideas on how I'd like to organize and also, recommendations are great as I trust your taste and functional expectations of the product I purchase. Could you consider doing a sourcing video for home study please? I have decorated mine but still feel that I could use some ideas of how to make it functional but still a bit of glamour so that it doesn't come off "office -y".
Great video! My favorite kitchen essentials that are in my kitchen are Breville juicer, Breville smart oven which replaced both my air fryer and toaster and performs 13 tasks. I also use my vitamix and Instantpot regularly.
Hi Julie, Thank you for your video and your great ideas. I like that you give why it is good for your use and some of the features. Electric Hot water Kettle is a fairly new thing to my kitchen (about 14 years! ha, ha). Some days it will be used once or twice and others, it could be used 10 times.
I had one of those kettles then bought a Zojirushi water boiler from Amazon. Those monsters were so hard to keep clean I finally caved and invested in the insinkerator. Haven’t looked back since Kim! I need hot water on tap a dozen times a day, especially with a baby!
@Julie Khuu We got the kitchen shears, 2 8" Tuo knives, and the silicone spatula set. Considering Emtek pulls, but black wouldn't work so we're researching other colors. Really appreciate recommendations from you☺️

Absolutely love this video. Another home run. Julie!! So helpful. Definitely going to be picking up these pots and pans set so lux! 🙏 More videos with your other favs😁😘
I’ve had a blanco sil granite sink for the past 11 yrs. the best sink ever. Really easy to clean. Also have a 4 in 1 insinkerator hot water tap which I love love love. One appliance which I could not live without is a thermomix. Best thing ever.
@@JulieKhuu it’s amazing Julie. I think you should definitely invest in one. I use it every day to make all sorts of lovely meals. Batch cook sauces, curries, Soups. Best think for working mum like us is that you can leave it to cook whilst you answer emails and see to the kids. No pan on the hob to catch fire or boil over. Had one for 5 yrs now and won’t look back x
Great tips! My husband loves his ice too so the ice maker will be a consideration. We just finished a major kitchen remod and a few Amazon items we love are the plastic baggie and foil / plastic wrap organizers. You can wall mount or put in a drawer-- game changer! We also love our 2 in-drawer bamboo spice racks (48 spices!) with glass spice jars & labels. Another fav item is the Lomi Kitchen Composter that benefits the environment & my garden. Lastly, I love our workstation sink and all of the accouterments, but if I didn't have that, at minimum a roll up drying rack that goes over the sink is essential for keeping your countertops clear.
@Julie Khuu It's a great gadget if you have a garden for the scraps turned soil amendments. Very easy to use too! We store it in our walk-in pantry with all of the other appliances so it's off the main kitchen countertop, but it can go in the garage too. There's no smell either!
I wished we got it sooner, but I was intimidated by all the accessories. But now that I have my mix down, I love this morning ritual with my Breville ☺️
This is so timely! You must have read my mind! I have been considering that exact sink and was concerned about mineral staining. I’m also shopping for cabinet pulls. How does the black faucet clean up?
Like all black fixtures and faucets, you have to be diligent about the hard water/ calcium buildup Joan. But I love my Blanco sink- it’s so dang chic 🖤
Thank you for sharing Julie! I have black granite and black faucet as well and because we live in NL, we use many Dutch brands. They are strong and beautiful. I have one question gif you, which brand of the rice cooker do you use? I find it is hard to make this decision.
As always, Julie, a great video full of ideas I want to implement. I already added the air fryer to my Amazon wish list for both the black and the white ones (white is $10 more? why?). Thank you!
Love your videos! Do you have one on Farmhouse style. I think this is a misused name when designers or clients don’t know what to call it. Watching HGTV -so called style is mentioned many times. It’s not really my style but I’d like clarity !
I currently rent and the stove control knob constantly get caught on my clothes, and I actually turned on the gas without turning on the fire a few times, which is terrifying!
Hi Julie! Emtek?! Yeah I know all about that! Two story house Addition, kitchen and two bathroom demo renos. I had to buy lots of solid brass knobs pulls and door hardware including for pocket doors. Emtek was a solid source for all that! Don’t they make towel rods too? I learned about knobs bc when my kitchen had them from the other owner all I did was rip my pants pockets off walking by them in a kitchen with an island with less than two feet space around it! Got rid of the island and the lower cabinet knobs with the reno. I also have white cabinets with black counters but mine are Corian bc that’s what I like for easy cleaning. But I do love your counters and your beautiful black sink. I also have a dark one handle kitchen spout so it is camouflaged in the black counter. I am going to see if I can have my water filter replaced with that hot cold one you recommended. And I am going to look into that air fryer too! Thanks so much! See you next week! 🥰🤗 Happy Valentine’s Day❤️❤️
I found Emtek at the beginning of my career when sourcing for clients and was so impressed by the quality of their products Margaret! Minimal designs, but A+ for how chic and sturdy they are
I keep debating about buying a table runner for my everyday dining table. I've never been a fan of table runners because I feel like they're so outdated, but I'm trying to expand my ideas. What are your thoughts on table runners?
Hi Julie thank you for showcasing these products- my favourite is the black blanco sink - I hate our stainless steel one - but I’m wondering how it would look in a white kitchen with the organic brass kitchen mixer and stainless finish cupboard handles - don’t think I care as that sink is awesome 😅 - yes do the other rooms too 😊
How about a storage cabinet under 36 inches that is toddler safe and can hold small kitchen appliances, vita mix , crockpot and so on have very little counter space and small kitchen, but space under a window about 5 ft wide . Gmom wanting to make safe for grand children. Also earth quake area ,so no glass
A rounded bullnose edge is the best for safety, but I find it too bulbous for my taste. My countertop is a polished square edge, but make sure you have it mitered to showcase the continuous slab instead of seeing two slabs sandwiched together. I have that second condition and the seams are visible. That was how I saved on budget for labor, but I should have splurged and cut somewhere else Michelle
I am really curious, why do you need hot water dispenser? Is it like hot boiling water you can make coffee/tea with? Or lukewarm water ready to drink? Or just hot, not boiling water for soups or something? I am just confused.
This did not age well, the 5.8 gt Cosiri air fryers were largely recalled recently. So definitely look that info up. The 10 qt is fantastic though and has shelves
We use the dishes every.single.day and they get washed afterwards Ann. That’s how I keep everything clean. Open shelving gets a bad rap, but you’ll notice that my shelves are opposite my stovetop/ so there’s barely any grease/dust accumulated. I have yet to find a bug in a dish or perhaps I ate them up without noticing 🤣
Love your proposais, except the black sink. We had one from the previous owners. That black sink drove my husband sooo crazy from the soap letting always visible spots and lignes after washing the pans. That’s how i got a new kitchen quicker as planned :) We got a beige sink and now we have black lignes inside from the pans...Seems there is no perfect solution for a sink. Anyone has an easy-to-live sink proposual ?
I requested a link a few months ago in regards to your Emtek cabinet handles. However, it doesn’t appear they make them in an 8 inch. The other option you link in this video is well over $100 each (I need 26). I’m so bummed! Is there a link you could provide to your lighting fixture?
Yeah, that’s the thing about these handles. The sizing was off, so I just made concessions based on what’s available. My chandelier is old from West Elm! They don’t make it anymore 😔
@@JulieKhuu You’re always so kind in responding. 😉 How do I make concessions on handles when what I’m replacing is 8 inches? If so, do you mean pick another brand? What do you recommend?
