7” 2 blade I have it mounted on a 14ft aluminum V hull. When it is just about to plane the prop looses its grip on the water and feels like it goes in neutral. The only thing that I can figure is there is something different about how the water flows off behind the boat causing cavitation.
@@brentharvey9858I have the same thing happen 6.5" prop will rev to the moon without getting on plane. Grips at low rpm then feels like a slipping clutch. 7" does the same but can spin fast enough to get on plane and to 15mph. Even my 7.5" cavitates/ventilates. 7.5" is what's in this video and will run 19mph unloaded. Can still hear the rpm rise due to cavitation when accelerating. Tried a #0 speed prop and the engine can't spin it. Long winded way of saying I have the same issue, just put a bandaid on the problem with a bigger prop. Plus, I like to see the water spray behind the boat.
@@TheDuke539 Got my plate installed and it made a huge difference! Jumps up on plane easily and no more cavitation. I got 14 mph out of a fairly stock predator 212 with a VM 22 carb that still needs some tweaking.
