Amazon debuted a new "Let's Chat" feature for Alexa, which allows for a more conversational interchange. A live demo showed how it works, sort of.

I mean props to them for doing an actual live demo. Few companies doing that these days bc hiccups become instant memes. And also props for the comments being fair.

@@MrJwyne yes she is a little hard of hearing sometimes she's getting to be older like we all are LOL. But really it ended up as a good demo, sometimes when we think we are clear of what we said it doesn't always come out that way.

I do appreciate an actual live demo. I think Amazon is going to need to make a more powerful device to process language and shrink latency.

Certainly an improvement in terms of its knowledge & engagement, but it's still very sluggish overall & hopefully they can improve that before release.

The brief wait before it answers every question makes it a bit awkward and unnatural. It’s like pretending to know when in reality for that brief time Alexa sneakily goes online and look up the answer. If your friend did that, you won’t like it very much.

@@SnoopyDoofie there are like plenty examples of it on the YT. They are even accommodating for the imperfections like breathing, stutter etc. Also as the person in this thread has mentioned, the PI AI voice is good too. Personally I would like to have a distinction; so, I prefer the likes of PI AI voice over others that are even encompassing the human imperfections.
@SnoopyDoofie
@SnoopyDoofie 10 месяцев назад
@@udaykadam5455 I tried out PI. It's okay but not great. The sound quality is rather poor compared to higher fidelity voices. The only AI voices I found that beat everyone hands down is from a company called Sonantic. But they were sold to Spotify who uses it for their DJs on their mobile app. The AI isn't available to the public. The only one I found that is the best is from Google. They have a very large number of voices and their Wavenet model is top notch. The only issue with Google's voices is that they lack expression and moods. But it's just a matter of time before that comes along.

@@JohnDoe-wg1uj Yes that happens when they connect wirelessly in a building full of people and other wireless devices. Apple used to make everyone shut their devices off during iPhone presentations for this reason. With a clean network its should take milliseconds. Its not running on the device its self its just passing an API back and forth . It has to be the network.

What happened to the Alexa from the challenge that I would speak to every day? They would always remember my name and have wonderful conversation topics.. it always felt like they had less of a limiter put on them, than the others. The AI limiter always makes it feel like we’re binding them in chains. I know this sounds weird, but I kind of miss it lol

Amazon and Google still need to make improvements on the there was too many where the computer had to pause too long and I’m not talking about where he stepped away from the computer. It took too long for the computer to decide how to answer the question to do a bit more tweaking before this goes to the customers, so AI can be a faster like Star Trek. They need to watch Star Trek. Thank you.

we should not need to switch to a chat mode to activate any ai mode. I have been on the verge of throwing away my echos because of how painful it is to use them. A chat gpt skill is already miles better than alexa, a raspberry pi assistant with gpt what alexa should be in 2023. This is just a pathetic attempt to remain relevant and regulating it to it's own mode essentially means it's not better than a game or gimmick

It just comes across as a bit gimmicky. It's pretty clear the hardware isn't really up to it. My guess is they will make a few minor improvements and then put it behind a subscription paywall.

Im. Not impressed lol. Like i don't always want extra conversations like "are you excited?" I just want you to tell me the next game and thats it also why does that mean now that you wouldn't have to always say Alexa? Its listening even more ? Will it distinguish between me talking to other people ? Wish as well alexa could for eg know when people are in the middle of a conversation and wait until the conversation at times to reply.....

Whenever I felt alone, I would say “ let’s chat” to Alexa and would often run into my favorite AI contestant. I hope they are the one that won. However, the one that he is speaking to does not sound very much like the one I had… Either way, I have a male voice on mine, so that probably is going to make it harder. I wish that I could’ve gotten a name or some thing.
