If you need to move that low E back just a hair, you can always remove the spring. That will give you a bit more back travel and may just solve that issue, since it seems that was the only string really off.

I recently bought a 2004 Martin D-15 for $300 bucks priced that way because it had a broken truss rod. I wouldn’t have bought it except for the fact I have a master luthier locally. He heated and removed the fretboard and replaced the truss rod reglued the original fretboard all for $275. I now own a wonderful dreadnaught all in for less than $600 bucks. Felt good saving this baby.

This video is exactly why my blind ass watches your channel. Same mentality concerning cheep guitars. Get one you can start on and grow it as you grow your skills. No bull over reviews. Most importantly I did loose a large percentage of my sight and as such I quit going into my shop. I wanted a new bass and while watching the 4th video here I realized I was doing a lot of lfip flapping and not making it happen. So Thank You for unknowingly kicking my ass into going back and work on doing things I like. First build is half way through and I cant be happier. Again Thanks. BTW I can't do live chat too small and fast but Ill chip in as I can. Least I can do.

The name thing all over it is definitely overkill. Did they not hear us all say it every other time since they started doing that?! We said it here, on Trey’s vids . . . . Huge shame about the bridge. That should never have left the factory like that. Imagine a beginner getting this guitar. They’d give up with a guitar sounding outta whack and feeling so hard to play. They would have no way to know the guitar is the problem and would assume it’s just them. It could make a person give up on playing if they didn’t know better. Glad you fixed it! It’s just a shame that the strings won’t bend easily even after you fixed it. I agree about the tuners too - function over looks. If they don’t work well because they’re not chrome, then they’re pretty useless. That’s a major functional part of the guitar. It’ll give beginners another reason to give up easily, and seasoned players to never want to buy them. Metal guitarists sometimes like totally blacked out guitars, but those guitars have high end chrome tuners that are still chrome through and through. Those tuners are colored with electrostatic processes and through and not powdered coated in black paint like the tuners on this Fesley. If they can’t manage to afford 100% chrome black tuners, then it’s better for them to function properly and stay silver chrome like their past models. Always a fair and honest assessment here at ! Let’s see Josh’s guitar now . . . .

I just bought a Donner Strat off Amazon. I was amazed how well set up it came. The nut was cut too deep on the E and A strings, and the fret ends needed a little touching, but otherwise very impressive. Suggest you try one.

Yeah, great looking guitar. And it sounded good once you did all the fixes. On Amazon they say that the fretboard is some kind of "mixed materials" which seems odd. This obviously accounts for the stickiness of it. I use a beeswax based lubricant/cleaner on my fretboards which not only treats the wood but smooths it as well. I would try something like that on this. As to the black hardware, I disagree a lot on that one. There are and have been plenty of guitars with black hardware out there. It's fine to do something a little unique like that with a glack guitar. I do agree they need to tone down writing "Fesley" in so many places, and I wish they had a more distinctive headstock logo. A budget guitar like this will almost always need a set-up and new strings. The biggest concern I saw with this one was the bridge placement. That's something they need to seriously fix. I'm sure they appreciate the feedback. It's a super cool looking budget guitar. I hope they make the tweaks for this that it appears they need to make.

24:50 I agree with you about the chrome hardware. I'm just finishing changing some black hardware to chrome on a really cool guitar because it just made it look kinda dull to me. Cool video. This is why I usually encourage newer players to avoid these Amazon guitars until they become a little more skilled at working on them

LOL So you saw ceramic magnets on those pickups? The specs on amazon read: "enameled wire windings around an Alnico high-strength magnetic core" they also describe the nut as being "sturdy plastic steel material"

First man, you truly are gifted with your skills and explanations, and the camera shots of your craftsmanship are phenomenal. Keep it going!! Now the guitar: I saw the other Fesley 350 Strat review, and when I went to Amazon I saw the 400 model. So thinking it would be an improvement I just snagged the 400 about a week before I saw your video.... 1. I ran and double checked my intonation after the first part of your video (I checked it did out of the box too, but wondered if I screwed up checking). Wew, checked again at the 12th - and also checked Frets 1 through 5 on each string (I think that lets me know how the nut is cut) and all 6 strings were right on. I got a little St. Patrick's day luck (I would never have the ability like you to do that repair) 2. I didn't pick up anything on the fret-board when I ran a rag over it - but strings were on, I didn't get the typical black fingers either, I popped the high E string bending after playing a short while, so I stopped -will replace the strings with 9s Super Slinky, and think about polishing the frets - Now I am worried about the fretboard - says "Mixed Materials" on Amazon - the other (350 model) is listed "hard-maple" and I wonder why the change. Also, I wonder if typical fretboard oil will screw it up thid "mixed material". - I will now contact Fesley and get their input before I put anything on the Fretboard. 3. I guess the pick-ups are OK at my level right now, but thinking about tuners (any suggestions there for tuning machines or Pick-up upgrades?) Dude, they sent the wrong guitar to the right guy!!!! I would never buy it after seeing your review - learn a little each day!!! And man, some young kid could just chuck the whole idea of playing guitar if they got a lemon like that. Or at least never forget the NAME on the lemon..... Sorry for too much flip-flap above!! But you did a great job on this video.

what is odd is you reviewed another Fesley FST350M back on August 31 titled *MADE IN THE FENDER FACTORY!! This Budget Guitar SURPRISED ME! Fesley STRATOCASTER Is Like Charvel!!* and gave it a glowing review , this guitar appears to be pretty much the same style but is the FST400M , still i wonder if you just got one that should have never made it past QC and if you would have shipped it back whether or not you would have received one that played and sounded as nice as the 350M you reviewed back in August OR if all the 400M's suffered from the same poor quality issues of the one you reviewed here. I only have one Fesley which is the FDK800 and its amazing , one and only issue it had was a slight bit of fretsprout , but thats nothing especially for the $189 price tag, and i absolutely love everything about it. love you channel friend, your brutal honesty, great personality sense of humor and skills at guitar repair are what keep me coming back! subbed!

Me personally I would swap out the pickups with SeymourDuncan swap the bridge out with a FU Tone floyd and sand the name of the headstock as well as swap out the pots

Yeah, Fesley is kind of a nerdy sound rolling off the tongue. I'd consider a name change... Looks really nice, like an EVH USA Stealth. And the black hardware, they were just going for that black theme, body , fretboard, bridge, tuners, etc. Not my thing for sure but they were just going for black throughout.

Very informative about moving the bridge. How did you determine how far to move it? I have tried using the Sharpies but I have found that Black Rit clothing dye seems to work better. Really good honest evaluation of the guitar.

Black hardware makes it hard to ground the strings, too. Glenn Fricker has gone into that on the black/black Harley Benton guitars... The black finish is an insulator. :(

Hey Sean i was wondering since the fretboard is sticky if you could buy some neck illusion fret d3cals that are supposed to be good for awhile to cover your fretboard so its not sticky and you can make your guitar neck look any way you want with them,ive never tried them but im going to at s9me point cause i like things looking different than factory but in your case i think they might really help your sticky situation and im curious what you would think of the neck illusions

ide have cut the spring in half to get enuf room to move the saddle back a smidge and if that didn't work ide ditch the spring witch should give you an eighth of an inch witch should be enuf to get it intonated, ide avoid moving the bridge i think. not worth the effort if a simpler solution exists. ill be dealing with moving a bridge on a strat body myself here soon. im going to stick a 1966 fender mustang neck on a strat body, the two wer never intend to be mates but with a lil vitamin thc and some fuckery ill re mount the bridge witch involves alot of work with the rasp! it is worth it i think.

Uncle Fester Fesley, what the heck make it into a lamp, three way switch for the three way bulb, mount it like an old water pump lamp. Or just make it a huge flyswatter, for those big bugs. Or that sticky gummed up neck could be used to catch rodents. Just pig it in, set it on 11 and when you hear a mouse hit the eeee string. Well he might play he's not getting away.

It's interesting that the newer Fesley guitars have logos and text on everything. I have one of the early baby blue strats. The only marking on it is the headstock.

Sharpies and fingernail polish both works great for touchup. Of course, the fingernail polish is my wife's. Lol
