We all know that Amber Riley is a star, but what's even more inspiring about her journey is that she has never shied away talking about her mental health. While she was winning awards, slaying on stages and starring in hit shows, she noticed a change in her emotions. She made the decision to get help to take back control of her thoughts, emotions and power. Listen as Amber and Gia discuss how therapy, medication, and her commitment to being her best self changed her life. And she opens about how she dealt with haters during Glee, grieving friends like Naya Rivera, and why she will never give up on love.
Check out her latest movie, "Single Black Female 2," streaming now on the LifeTime Movie App. And support Amber on all of her latest projects by following her on socials, @ msamberpriley.
Your healing journey is yours, and we support you. Please consult a physician before if you are interested in learning if medication is right for you. No matter what era you are in, we thank you for being here and we hope something helped you on your journey.

it's always so heartwarming to see how people talk about naya. no matter if it's kevin or amber or heather (especially heather), it's so true that they love her so unconditionally. i wish the world would have gotten more of her- i never even knew her, obviously, but i still miss her like hell

This comment made me smile so much! 🥹🥹 I wrote a story about Heather and Naya and I would honestly love for you to read it. Something tells me it would be special and make you smile in the midst with missing Naya. ❤️❤️

I relate, being a successful black woman who had to accept that success doesn’t cure depression. Still working on accepting it

"You're afraid to take medication and I'm afraid for you not to". That is one of the most powerful sentences I've ever heard. I literally felt my heart stutter. I have been debating whether or not I should be taking medication. Because I have depression and I'm pretty sure undiagnosed ADHD. The prospect of taking medication has been concerning to me for a number of reasons (and not because I care about the stigma of being on medicine). But this past year, I've been looking around me, realizing that everything in my life is so much harder than it needs to be because of my mental health. Thank you so much for this interview

WOW. Thank you so much for watching. I am honored you'd take the time to watch and excited that it sparked this inner dialogue for you. Praying for you as you figure out whatever is next for you to heal. Thank you for sharing this powerful comment.

Amber stole the show the second she came on the screen. I was obsessed with glee in middle school and Amber as Mercedes will always be in my heart! As a bigger girl growing up, seeing a girl/woman who although struggled, truly loves herself and had confidence was so important!! also knowing what the representation did for black girls everywhere shows how impactful Amber is. I think I get what she means about that wasn’t her story, she didn’t get a fully fleshed out character (due to writers and creators) but amber made mercedes so authentic, truly played the character with such beauty inside and out! loved this podcast! ❤️ also it’s so funny to me EVERY time i check comments on an IG post on my feed, amber is in the comments somewhere 🤣🥹❤️

Gems were dropped, a smile was plastered on my face. Love Amber. Like Gia, Amber is who brought me to "Glee." I wasn't into musicals, but that show turned it around for me. She and Naya were the best assets to that production. I love that they had an actual relationship off the show. That's special. Here's to continued success to Amber. She is more than deserving.

I love that in her future "thank yous" for the incredible awards we know Amber is worthy of receiving, she said, "I deserve this." Let that be a reminder beautiful Black women everywhere that you DESERVE what it is your heart desires and it's more than okay to say that out loud with boldness, pride, and not blink one eye. I DESERVE THIS.

Being a high functioning bipolar person is so hard. People never know I’m at my wits end until I’m calling my fam n saying I’m going on “vacation “ (admitting myself to the ward for 5 days) because i feel unsafe. Bring self aware is very important when you deal with depression
