I have made a video explaining how to play this piece on my patreon page (link above) you can view it for free!🦉 www.patreon.com/posts/how-to-play-1-104517724?Link&
Thank you, it is a special one. I have a classical nylon string guitar. One day I will get one to amp it. As a beginner I feel it might be a stretch to some of the stretches.
@@ngairewinwood2124 it is a bit stretchy at times! The basic shapes are ok I think, start there and work out which notes work around them to make your own thing. hopefully I can help you more over on patreon.
I reflected on parts of my life when listening to this..I’m 72 on Thursday and have found a lot of peace in later life after a turbulent past..thankyou for this beautiful music
Happiest birthday to you. 72! Huge congratulations. I'd love to hear more about "peace later in life after a turbulent past" - I keep hoping it is ahead for me. I'm turning 59 this year, and honestly, I had planned not to make it to 50, so, I've outlived and outlasted a bunch of turbulence myself, some self-imposed of course, and changed my life's trajectory. I realize this isn't the place to discuss, but just your posting stokes that dwindling flame of hope inside me, the one I keep trying to squash because hope is so addictive, and let downs are all I'm used to.
Too often my guitar work has had a deadline of some kind, which has always seemed to push creativity to the side, exchanging music's beauty for clunky utility. But every so often, if we're fortunate enough, some musician finds themselves in this serene state -- where it seems they're tapped into the universe somehow, and pluck melodies out of the cosmos like fruit -- and they fortuitously record it for the rest of us to catch a glimpse of their bliss. Thank you, sir, for taking us along on the ride.
As it might seem I came upon your music just by chance tonight after finishing my meditation. I believe that as my friend’s wife who is an author says “we don’t find great books they find us”. I think the same is true of great music we don’t find it, it finds us when we are ready for it . Thank you for sharing this beautiful gift! My meditation continued on for another hour and a half peacefully taking in what you have created. Much gratitude 🙏
Thank you Cameron, that is a beautiful contribution. I was just listening to Charles Eisenstein and Ernst Laszlo discussing how we over emphasize chance as an organizing factor in the universe, when I noticed your message appear!
How calm and warm my soul is... It is drizzling outside the window, the rustle of leaves is heard...My heart is pounding calmly, the day's stresses have passed. I'm sitting in a comfortable armchair with a glass of wine, delicious smells are coming from the kitchen, my wife is preparing dinner for us. I watch the children playing with the cat, it's his birthday today and he's waiting for a pate cake.. This is happiness...
Absolutely beautiful, contemplative music. I sat down at my home office to catch up on a mountain of paperwork. I was feeling anxious but your music has given me a space to breathe. I will be a frequent visitor.
I just had exactly the same situation. I hope your anxiety lifts today. I know how debilitating it can be with so much work to get through. I don’t know you and you don’t know me, but I wish you all the best 👊
This is incredibly beautiful, and it’s so cool that you are sharing this. I love that you are just sitting there playing, without anything really fancy. Thank you so much.
Been suffering from anxiety lately. This is just so calming and soothing. Thank you. The way music is supposed to be, just makes you feel something, in this case, peace.
I was feeling quite anxious this morning, and nothing seemed to help. However, as soon as the first notes of this song played, I felt instantly relaxed. It was exactly what my soul needed. Thank you so much!
Struggling Mentally at the moment, this hit the spot. While listening I pictured my life as a child and how everything was new, slowly progressing through the life I’ve lived thus far. Some music just talks to your soul and sends you elsewhere. Thank you for this.
Sheldon, many of the videos you have here remind me of when I used to just sit, back over 40 years ago, sometimes with other musicians, with no plans and just see what came out. We rarely recorded our impromptu sessions. Lots of magic on our journeys, sometime someone or two might start describing their thoughts, or their day, or of a time from the past and the music would wrap itself around the words, enhancing and amplifying the mood. Your music is the closest thing I've found to those times. Thank you for making these videos and recordings. I have already told some old friends to tune in to what you're doing. Best wishes.
Thank you Ward, I am very grateful and encouraged by your words. I also really appreciate that you have shared my work with your friends and I believe you are listening in the conscious way I am hoping for.
I've been getting lost for hours playing like this on my guitar here lately. Just a meditative flow. This is very inspiring and beautiful. Thank you Sheldon.
@@zacharybraverman4870 that's great question! I might even make a video about that. Actually I began as a classical player, experimenting with open tunings is a great start, try to find the scales and chords in different tunings (i am using open g here). Think about drones and how open strings and doubled notes in chords can create interesting textures rather than just finding the correct harmonic notes- I hope that helps...
Oh, this just stokes my soul! Just for now, listening to this and reading the comments, the world seems like a soft and precious place. Loving wishes to all, especially those going through a turbulent time.
I felt pretty low today. This soothed me somewhere deep inside like a stream of cool water. I want to move my family back to Scotland after 15 years working in Taiwan, but I need to wait until next spring. I need to grow roots again. The comments showed me that you reach a lot of peoples emotions. You have a gift man.
I’m planning to settle in Southern Scotland, Peebles maybe, since my boy loves cycling. I know England pretty well and love the various vibes and people of the UK. Take care. Glad to find your channel.
Listening while studying for a big exam tomorrow, work is kicking my butt, puppy got hit by a car (but he is ok), and aint got no man at home. Thank you for feeding my soul to me keep going, god bless!!!!
Like a cabin in the mountains where you find all the love you have dreamed of ... Thank you for your dreamy and very beautiful guitar music, God bless you ! ♥️😽
Except no one is allowed to eat from the tree of life Mr.@@ecosticks . [] Genesis 3 : 24 So he drove the man out, and he posted at the east of the garden of Eʹden the cherubs and the flaming blade of a sword that was turning continuously to guard the way to the tree of life. I have never heard of you before and didn’t know what I was going to hear when I clicked on this but I am soooooo glad I did. You have touched me deeply with this beautiful music. Can I hear more ? Thankyou again my friend
that’s so lovely to hear. I have two solo guitar albums on spotify (and apple music etc) also bandcamp ten tree shadows and ekosticks- under my name Sheldon King plus more coming here soon. Thank you Paul
Wonderful, thank you. In this speeded up world where everything g is jackhammered into submission, this demonstrates the peacefulness that the world needs more of!
So glad your video came across my path. Your beautiful guitar music is filling my home and my spirit with a peaceful calming energy. Saving to my playlist. Thank you for sharing your talent of music 🎶. Blessings to you 🙏🏻
Your guitar playing is like heaven to my ears. I am going through a difficult time in my workplace and your sound brings me places where I feel safe. At night, I can close my eyes feeling in peace within myself. I am grateful for such a beautiful music and thank you for taking the time to record and share to the world.
For me, one of the biggest mysteries and wonders is this: Music is "just" waves of air molecules hitting our ears at varying speeds, densities and frequencies. How can this resonate so deeply and cause such an emotional response? Beautiful, thank you for sharing.
It is indeed a massive mystery- I have lots to say on this subject, but perhaps a video about it might be better- thanks for the comment I really appreciate it
Hi Sheldon, I wanted to share something very interesting about this video with you. I'm a big fan of ambient music, and in particular I love good acoustic guitar (I don't have any musical background so I don't know how to say it in the appropriate way - but I mean just guitar, nothing else). In the past, I've had this big, subconscious desire to just have quality acoustic guitar playing in the background as I draw or paint. While I've tried searching before, I wasn't really able to find something that could address this very particular itch. This video popped up on my feed yesterday and this is already my 4th time listening to it. It's as if I was waiting for this exact video to release so I could listen to it - it's exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for posting something of such high quality - I love it. Keep it up!
Unashamedly had this on repeat for the last few days after stumbling upon it through a recommendation when listening to Alan gogoll. This piece and your talent are incredible. Thank you for this
Thank you for sharing this inspiring piece, dear sir. After many years playing the guitar, it's got harder for me to find contentment in music. Listening to this, brings me some hopeful energies to pick up the guitar again.
Listening to this i just laid on my bed, listening to the common swifts'calls outside. For the first time in the past 3 years i meditated, during 20 minutes. I surprised myself smiling without any reason, just feeling myself as it was I feel way better than an hour ago. Thank you for that.
It has been quite some time since I have experienced such a deep sense of tranquility. Inhaling the breath, what a truly divine gift of life. Exhaling... so incredibly precious. What a blessing! May you be blessed with a mind, body, and soul that are lightened. I wish for you to be centered and blessed.
Thank you so much for sharing this to help me unwind after a very hectic day ❤ I am 27 and just now learning guitar. There is nothing more peaceful than just letting go and playing in my own world. Detached from the other noise . I hope to be this talented one day so I can share it as well. 🙂
that’s a nice idea Bianca. I don’t have Cds of this at the moment but I am doing some recording in July, based on this kind of material which will probably come out on CD. If not you may be able to take the sound from these videos and put it on CD- sadly I don’t have the means to do that at the moment. Let me know if you have any luck- stay tuned and if I work something out I’ll let you know. What country are you in?
. THANK YOU 😃your music allowed me to remember that another human can also soothe the loneliness of my soul 😇 sometimes i forget it....thank you for love you give
Listening to this while editing photos from a recent adventure, your playing adds to this air of reflection in such a sweet way. Thank you for this lovely work, my friend.
Such Andy McKee vibes from his old days -- and I mean this in the best way! I totally recognize your own artistry here and that you're not him, but it carries a similar spirit of a man I appreciate so much. Thank you!
Yes he's great. I've actually been around longer than he has , playing this style, but when that video broke (drifting) I though 'yeah that's what I was trying to do!"
