- Oud & Lute - King of Instruments -
The origin of the oud belongs to the ancient times and similar instruments were used by the Babylonian and ancient Egyptian. Until today, oud is played as the "king of instruments" in Arabic culture.
The oud found his way to Europe in medieval times and it became "lute". During the Renaissance the lute was also regarded as the "king of instruments".

I prayed Allah for resilience and strength , then i stumbled upon your music which i already grew up and familiar with oud and maqams. still there is something bare and nominative with this one. Less fancy. More durable. specially with this one and "Sincerity" Now the only confusion is "should i put these pieces on my Japanese list or the mourning list :) By the way i always felt the relation between traditional sakura and maqam saba. First of all, thank you very much for your music, which is truly wonderful. When you play the Oud, don't you usually, but for reasons of personal taste, make chords with 5 notes played at the same time, or does the object you hold in your right hand (which must be some kind of pick) prevent you from forming chords with 5 notes at the same time, meaning that you almost always play one note at a time? I'm not a musician and I'm just asking out of curiosity. Please, keep posting these extraordinary videos. Thank you very much.

Thanks for listening! First of all, the number of tones - as you say "chords with 5 notes" or so - has nothing to do with the quality of the music! If the number of tones were important, all singers and melodic instrument players would be bad musicians... Oud has nothing to do with the guitar. Oud is a melody instrument like violin or cello and it is optimized for playing melodies. Chord playing plays no role here. Nevertheless, I play in three voices in this track. That is a very challenging compositional and technical achievement, if I may say so. I hope that I have answered your question.

Thanks! I already talked it in several videos - it's an ordinary oud and you can buy one in the same quality in various online stores. It's only the playing technique that makes differences to the other players.

It based on the traditional Arabic tuning on C, but I don't want to give it away. The main scale is the normal g-minor.
