This is the final piece for the summer snorkelling project. I entered the water in Coldingham Bay and swam round the headland and into Milldown Bay.
Soft synths used were Dune 3, Analog Lab V and Omnisphere. The search facility in Omnisphere has been extremely useful on this project. Simple to put in a characteristic you want and up come plenty of appropriate sounds to work with. I was a bit stuck with the comopsition of this piece for a while until I listened to the promo video for Luftrum 30 for Dune 3. I heard just the right sound for an arpeggio so that was duly purchased. It fitted very well for my ears.
Three other new plugins have been used on this. First is Duck from Devious Machines. This is essentially an ADSR that can be made as simple or complicated as you want. I used one of the presets that gives a lovely rhythm on one of the Omnisphere lines you’ll hear in the second half. Automation was applied to that fading it in and out.
Second new plugins were the new DIG and El Capistan delay plugins from Strymon. I used them on some very subtle Ebowed guitar. The El Capistan was applied to the guitar as an insert with DIG as a send. El Capistan kept the sound in the centre with a shorter delay but fed into the send to widen the sound with the digital delay.
