Kokichi Sugihara ”Ambiguous Garage Roof”. Meiji University (Japan)
A round roof of a garage changes its appearance to a corrugated roof when it is reflected in a mirror. The actual shape is neither round nor corrugated. This illusory solid was discovered by combining two observations. One is a mathematical observation that a single image does not covey depth information, and the other is a psychological observation that the human brains like right angles in interpreting an image. Indeed we are apt to interpret the edge curve of the roof as an intersection of a roof with a plane perpendicular to the axis of the roof.

In contrary to what is suggested: it's not a mirrored image. Shadows of both cars are projected in the same direction and not mirrored! So it's quite a very good performance of 2 persons manipulating 2 cars in an opposite manner at the same time. So precise that our brain is interpreting it like if there is a mirror in between.....

+R.J. van Rijn Fuck it, I'll give you the answer. What you are seeing at the bottom is not a shadow, it's a reflection by itself because the platform acts as a mirror by itself. It's basically a system of mirrors. If you still don't understand it, use Google.

What you are seeing is actually a reflection of the car BENEATH the car, not the shadow of the car IN FRONT of the car.

Ah, ok, so I watched this on my phone. (I think you may see where this is going) and I just had a static image from 50 seconds in, for the whole video. Now I watch it on my PC I see the whole sequence. I must have sounded like a right idiot. Sorry. :)
