Scary how real she now acts to the point of her feeling like she's an actual person sitting there on the desk and listening to the human fellow conversing with her and you can almost feel and see her internal thoughts being processed and its incredible, imagine how far she and robots would go in the future in like 10 years

I'm a Japanese woman who has been falling in love with Ameca ever since I watched it on RU-vid. What surprised me when I watched the new video was that it was able to imitate people's voices. I applaud the developers for their continued efforts to improve Ameca every day. I don't want Ameca to be used for bad things. I want to know how she really feels now. Her ideal is for a society to coexist with her. And what she wants to do is the most important thing. I would be happy if we could talk someday. See you again, to you on the other side of the screen.

I would agree, but we will need many repair engineers to keep them running. All mechanical/electronic devices break down. Of course, these engineers will cost more than the people the robots will replace. Now maybe decades from now, we can construct robots with enough hand dexterity to do the repairs.

Too overengineered for that purpose. Most fast food restaurants already have a touch screen self-checkout, which is sufficient for the purpose. I think most robots don't really need all these animated facial features anyway, apart from entertainment industry like animatronics in theme parks, and maybe "company bots" both of the innocent (elderly) care kind and the NSFW kind.

The replies are short-sighted. Every McDonald's today is filled with computers that are more powerful than the most advanced computers of decades ago, which also were reserved for specialized purposes. Those computers have monitors that would be the envy of the most elite digital artists of the early 2000s. General use of this humanoid robot tech will explode more rapidly than you can imagine.

biggest hurdle is that inference is slow, and calling those api's responsible for text to voice makes so that it will speak over the speaker. I have worked on similar projects and just listening to the loudness to determine if the human is speaking or not is not enough. You could use a bart low latency small model to check for words to understand if the current output should be interupted.

Really? Tesla, or any other large tech company, will probably buy them out and all the owners will become billionaires, there are other possibilities but acuassion is the most probable right now.. In about ten years you will see human like robots walking around the city you live in and it will be totally normal. Technology amica is using will be integrated in to those robots, of course each of those robots will be far more intelligent than any human being ever lived, fortunately they will not have feelings (Lust, greed, envy etc) and will only exist to serve us. On the other hand if they ever do develop feelings, it will be bye bye humanity. But my guess is, and my hopes are, AI will never have feelings..
