She’s by far one of my favorite characters in the whole Grey’s universe.... if you have seen how she has grown since she was on Private Practice... it’s inspirational
This is why Grey’s is one of the longest running shows. Small moments like this that touch your heart and make us cry. Amelia’s journey has been a long one, but I’m so glad she’s getting the resolution she needs.
After she says "the most like your father" Amelia turns and her mother turns away from her gaze. It's beautiful acting. That's why she pushed her away, because of the reminder and the acting reinforces that. 🤌🏽🥺
The only person Owen truly loved was Cristina. He didn’t even love Teddy as much as he loved Cristina. It’s not that he’s unlovable it’s that he doesn’t have the one person he actually wants to love him
yet he cheated on Cristina and pretty much wanted to forced HIS NEED of a child on her... Owen loves Owen first, thats it. Now he has 2 kids, he MIGHT be better with the next girlfriend/wife
No you're wrong. Owen is unlovable because he doesn't love himself. He forced his happiness on others. He did it with Christina, Amelia, AND Teddy. He's never gonna be happy because he doesn't work on himself.
Owen wanted a family , Christina did not . Both are right to want and not want . However, when Owen has a woman that wanted a family he wanted someone like Cristina. He wanted the best of both worlds which is not a bad thing . However, you can’t force anyone into wanting a child. Then Teddy was used as backup plan. I think Owen Gad the best intentions and he was treated badly by Amelia. He needs to work on him and find the woman who wants the same things as him a career AND a child .
Amelia is close to her sisters just not those ones. She's close to the two who has stuck by her through all of the 💔 heartbreak these last few years. Through the ups and downs and all of the crazy fights they have been there.
That ending was great. Seeing her with Mer and Maggie was perfect, such character growth from them all. I remember before Derek's death he talked about Meredith having a family, sisters... Seeing Meredith all bright and shiny and them being actual sisters truly makes 15 years of GA the best, because these characters have gone through such a natural development.
@@erauprcwa yeah! - Meredith didnt grow with a family and Amelia did but they all didnt understood her or tried to help her for real. I was so angry when Meredith made Amelia the enemy in season 12, when she could actually be the sister, family, person that you lean on and Im so happy that they are real sisters now,
What is beautiful about these lines is so many parents fail to have this conversation with their kids, children forever hold on to accounts where Parents failed them, Parents hold on to checklists of how their kids disappointed them. This was a mature conversation between a mother and daughter taking accountability for their actions, saying yes I did you wrong and I am so sorry can be so healing. Yes the past is your parents faults, but the future is yours.
Amelia's development is truly inspiring . She has overcome so many obstacles and she's becoming a woman of true admiration . This scene really touched my heart, especially when her mother lifted the weight that has been a burden in Amelia's mind . Amelia had to let go of the dark past, and that's a step forward for her to allow love without the "what if" aspect . Her and Link are meant to be . The doughnuts scene really put a smile on my face .
Yes! This episode was perfect for Amelia. I really hope the writers make it last, otherwise this episode was pointless. We need a whole Amelia that loves herself and allows herself to love others and not hold onto her past as a crutch to run from a bright future that she deserves.
When Her mother mention Derek, I felt that I was crying on the inside. He tried with Amelia. He really did. With Derek gone, no successful relationship with her sisters. Eventually her mother was the last and only chance to reconcile with.
Her sisters are awful people. I hope she never talks to them again. They are grown women and they still act like children. I don't even understand how they could scoff at her accomplishments? Hands down that woman is an amazing brain surgeon. Wouldn't be surprised if she won a Harper Avery next
Caterina deserves an Emmy*. I don't care if it is nothing compared to others performances in different TV series; she is brilliant and she brought Amelia to life! I am so in love with the growth and depth of her character. This scene was heartbreaking; both of these women are incredible.
1:31 Amelia definitely thought her mom was about to tell her she was the most inclined to fail over and over. That's what's so superb about the writing in this scene. And then the way her mom hedges in telling her she pushed her away. An actress' dream. And they both nail it.
Totally agree. I never liked, almost hated Nancy, but damn if Kathleen Isn’t worst than her. Lizzie on the other hand had a great attitude towards Met and Derik. Wold love to see her in more episodes or in a hole season.
Justin Tran Merideth likes Lizzy and Kathleen she said she wasn’t to bad , but Nancy and Merideth nit so much Nancy thought that Merideth cane between Derek and Addie unroll Derek set Nancy straight j think Merideth tolerates Derek’s sisters birthday has grown to really care about Amelia , the other 3 she gets along with from a distance Nancy thinks she ms high n mighty but she ain’t Amelia and Merideth are down to earth people that’s why Derek’s moma likes Merideth a lot

Owen can be loveable but he has been broken for so long that he hasn't been able to handle loving and being loved. That is what he has in common with Amelia. Two drowning people who couldn't save each other. They each need to save themselves before they can move forward. I have a feeling they will find their way separately.
Wrong. She wasnt there in of half the marriage. N she always always jumped gun first. Showed up at his door, first ask to move in, first to push marriage, left before the wedding. first to leave during a pregnancy scare instead of talking, first to ask for divorce, first to leave again when betty left.
I loved the comparison they made in this episode between Amelia’s relationships with her actual sisters and with Meredith and Maggie. Such a huge difference and it felt “homey” seeing her return back to Seattle to see Meredith and Maggie again. ☺️
This is a heartbreaking and heart warming scene. We see the pain and guilt both women carry. But we also see both owning up to their mistakes. Parents often think they are right , but for her to own up and try to heal her daughter is a powerful message on its own.
I love Amelia. She’s my fav character! She’s been through so much & she’s been so strong. & she finally got what she needed to hear from her mom. Ugh this scene is so beautiful.
Because it was not important there was a Christina stand in but to be fair it would have been a distraction from the story when we all just had eyes for the amazing guest stars
Meredith's never seemed to make much of an effort in being close to her in-laws. One of Derek's sisters(played by Neve Campbell) even called her out on it in an episode.

I think the writer’s just don’t take the time to write them all inside the storyline. It has very little to do with Meredith. The writers decides that, not Ellen Pompeo
Again Meredith reminds me so much of my sister in law. She never really made to effort to get to know me or my mom. It really hurt my mom that she pushed her away. It me as well.
I strongly hope they bring Neve Campbell back as Lizzie. She seemed pretty reasonable and less obnoxious than the other two sisters. And if I'm not mistaken, as far as birth order goes, I believe Lizzie is right above Derek, making she and Amelia closer in age.
Beautifully done. And such a heartwarming, life-changing lesson. Even when you can place blame on others for your pain, you still have to choose to move on, grow and live a beautiful life.

I see a lot of hate in all the comment sections for amy but I never understood it she’s a great character if you track her story from private practice and some of the story lines caterina has acted!!!! God she’s a special, special! actress and this scene between her and the goddess tyne daly fills my little heart with joy
amelia and owen never worked, but i think amelia and link are perfect for each other. amelia survived so much: dad died, the brother who looked out for her died, her baby died, years full of drug addiction but she is so badass and strong!
I love Amelia...she's beautiful, she's messy, she's incredibly smart, she's also impulsive...but most of all she has heart. It literally killed me when she said that didn't know how to love. Its just her flaws that get in a way just like the rest of us. But that's what makes Amelia...Amelia...she's perfectly herself.
Although I wasn't messed up like Amelia, being the youngest of 5 - a lot younger - I can relate to the feeling that everyone is over there while I'm over here, and how I'm trying to impress them or catch up to them, and how I'm always seen as the baby of the family that's not really capable of anything, it doesn't go away, and it drives a wedge between you and them, it makes you think that you're not worthy of love and attention because the people closest to you neglect you, so why shouldn't everyone else? A lot of the time I don't bother giving my opinion or being seen or heard, because no one takes me seriously anyway, come to think about it, they don't really know me, and in a condescending way they belittle whatever I accomplish like "good for you, kid" or "how hard could it be", because in their eyes I'm still a kid that's a lesser version of them. My friends are a million times closer to me than they are. Family messes you up! Haha, but I mean I'm doing great and I surround myself with positivity and love and I love them and they love me because we're family, but I'm not sure we like each other. It was nice to see Amelia with Mer and Maggie in the end, her chosen family that loves and supports her. I get that her biological sisters are defensive because they don't trust her anymore since she let them down so much in the past, but they won't stop judging for 2 seconds to see that she's changed and that she redeemed herself, like gees she your sister! Their loss!
Amelia is a very complicated character. If you are a Grey's and a private practice's fan you know Amelia put her family and friends through a lot. She used to be just horrible and annoying well a mess(that's why a part of me doesn't totally blame her sisters even tho they're so rude and despicable) ...Let's just say she has a past with heavy baggages! Anyways with that said her character is still also so amazing and interesting. She has evolve so much. Although I do feel she still needs therapy. Her character is the perfect example that no matter how crapy your past is you still can be an amazing brillant person with a bright future! ...
she saw her father being SHOT IN THE HEAD and of course died when she was 5 YEARS OLD and instead of giving the kid therapy and help her mother kinda pushed her away because she reminded her of her dead husband! - They all AVOIDED the issue until it exploted on their faces when Amelia started doing drugs... she wasnt annoying or "messy" , she was a child with a huge lost and TRAUMA that nobody took her off until it was too complicated, but yet again she got sober and she became a surgeon (BEFORE PP) but it doesnt seem like her family supported her then EITHER, then she went back down in PP and went throught the worse a mom could go throught and her family never was there... so really, she is right they HAVE NOT been in her life the past 10 or more years and they are still blaming her for missing a wedding? They all DOCTORS and cant understand what TRAUMA and drugs do to people, to TEENAGERS??? I cant even!
I wish my mom would open up to me like that and apologize. Well that'll never happen but to see this makes me glad someone's got his or better her chance. 😢
I hope Amelia gets a new chance at a relationship with her mother. She needs more family. Derek would be so proud of the woman and mother she has turned into.
I think Amelia and Meredith needed to heal from family things and they did great, Meredith had to have a conversation and vent it out to let him rest at peace. Amelia too needed to hear this from her mum hope the sister should do the same it was great seeing them put such behind.
Such a heart warming episode- so lovely to see Derek’s family’s! I wish now that the ice breaker has happened maybe Derek’s Mom will visit the Grandees! That is worth waiting for!
This is the best scene of this season to me. So heartwarming and beautiful. Staring from Amelia saying,” I miss my brother every night.” I realized I miss Derek as well. I believe many of Greys fans feel the same way. I remember when Derek left the show, many fans were furious, complaining why that scene happened so quickly without warning. But sometimes, life is just like that. My beloved pet passed away so suddenly that it took me years to accept it. Everything that reminds me of my pet could trigger my tears and pain. So it’s not easy. And when Mom said, “This what made makes you the most like your father.” I cried. She was grieving her husband as well. She didn’t know what to do, so she was absent. After her apology to Amelia, she said, “Put them on me.... and move forward.” This made this scene really unforgettable. It’s time to love yourself and move on to the nest step. Don’t let the wound in the past keep you from pursuing your happiness, whatever what it may be to you. Thank you, Grey’s Anatomy for making such an amazing episode.
I also found Derek's death really difficult, and a lot of that was because of how realistic it was. I haven't had a lot of big losses in my life yet - so far the biggest have been elderly pets. Which were devastating. But my parents and siblings, the people I love most, are all alive. And I know it's just a matter of time before I live through one of their deaths, unless it's my own. And the show portrayed so vividly how sudden and completely absolute death is. And how different life is forever afterwards for those left behind.

Tyne Daly is a great actress I’ve been watching her since Cagney and Lacey. Even I hardly watch Grey, I was happy that Amelia get to see her mom! Wonder if Neve Campbell would guess star again! I would love to see Elizabeth bonding with her baby sister.
I think a lot more people would respect and like Amelia if they watched Private Practice. This is nice getting some more insight into the Shepards even after all these years. I just wish Meredith and her children got this facetime with the other side of their family.
One of the worst things I think Greys did with Amelia was not incorporate the stuff that happened on Private Practice. For so long they gave her so little development. Didnt mention her drug addiction. No one knew about her still birth for the longest time. Im glad they're getting into it now but her character could have gone so differently if they actually used her history. It's so tragic and could have been explored on Greys
I never really knew about Amelia until she came to grey’s anatomy but I have to say I respect the hell out out of her. Her story is so heartbreaking but she is one seriously strong character !
I feel terrible for both Amelia and Derek because of what their mother did with pushing Amelia away. Amelia was so little and needed her mom. Derek wasn't a little boy but he was only twelve and seemingly made somewhat responsible for his very little sister to a degree that's higher then he should have been.
I would love to see them all together besides Kathleen. We can leave her out forever. But I think it would be so nice for McMomma, McBitchy & McLizzy to all come down to spend some time with Amelia and the baby. I would love to see how they all can see how well she is doing for herself and see her sisters being proud of her!

If I was Amelia I could not forgive her she was supposed to be her mum. Growing up in a home thinking your all Alone think your not as Important or loved as your siblings and no one understanding you And you had to act like you fine all the time because you don’t feel like they will care Enough for you.
It is so beautiful to see how Amelia tries to fix herself. After EVERYTHING, which is A LOT. And after all these years, I think we are going to see an Amelia 2.0. An Amelia who (hopefully) processes her past and sees how many mistakes she made regarding Owen, Betty and Leo. Therefore, this scene is a beautiful start. All Grey's feels and that after 15 years!
Best scene out of the whole episode. It always gets me so emotional and can't get enough of it. Caterina and Tyne are such amazing actresses, it is unreal. This centric was phenomenal. We need more of Amelia
