I love walking into model train stores you'll never know what could catch your eyes the most The worst part is that the feeling makes you want to buy something lol I wanted to buy some trains but I first need to plan benchwork and trackplanning before i go to a train store and buy stuff
I have a heap of A scale USATrains, and I got 99% from Charles Ro. Excellent products. Excellent customer service when I had a power supply problem. A good group.
Man that store is fantastic, definitely one of those places I could not take my kid with as either I would spend way too much money or I would have to be the "bad guy" and say "no" a lot of times.
That’s a ‘blizzard’ ? I have more frost in my freezer than what I see on the ground there! Go watch some videos of the Blizzard of 77 in Buffalo, NY. I experience that and never want to see that again. 👽
Good to know that Lionel is still kick'n. There's a cool Mc Donald's next to Knott's Berry Farm that has a nice, working train layout on the ceiling! It has a glass case also in the middle with tables around it where you can see another working display. It's really unique. They are larger than "0"scale.
Thanks for showing the isle with American Flyer. They should have had some models out of the boxes on display. I have been buying from them for many years. There are 3 more manufacturers of S gauge: American MODELS, S-HELPER SERVICE, MTH. Some of these are being bought out and others are looking for investors.
Finally after 30 years of waiting. This summer we move into a new home with a basement for my Lionel trains. My grandson loves trains at 5 years old. Maybe our son will allow us to setup his Original Lionel G scale Thomas the Train too. Thanks for sharing
A great big thank you!! Our Bostonian accent can be a love it or hate it. Glad you love it, I do to!! Glad you still have the locomotive and caboose. Thank you for tuning in!! -RTT
I have to tell this story about Charles Ro, back in 1996, i seen some box sets in a ad in classic toy trains, i ordered them and i went out to work on rail gang sunday came back home early friday, the trains were waiting on me when i got home.
@@realtoytrains Hey look at that your on your way to 10,000 subs now! I can see your channel exploding soon! Your videos are giving me motivation to get back into model railroading more!
15 minute time limit in the store that's torture glad I know that now I was about to drive all the way from Wisconsin I'll have to think twice about it now 🤔
That place is my childhood. I've been going there for as long as I've been into trains, and it's where I got my Lionel O-Gauge Polar Express set many Christmases ago, which is one of my absolute most prized possessions. It's been a long time since I've been into Charles Ro: hopefully now that Spring Break is starting, I'll get a chance to go back soon. :D
@@realtoytrains I didn't say there were none lol, just that I hadn't personally seen any. I do know where there is one but the drive is so inconvenient it's not even worth it.
Heading there tomorrow! It’s been nearly a year since this video was posted. Should make the trip again. Lol. A 90 min ride for me but excited. First time there
@@realtoytrains just about. 😂 picked up a Lionel Legacy es44ac US Armed forces #1775. They tested it and everything right there for me. Was a great first experience
@@realtoytrains def will. Only can control via BT right now so can’t see all the features but will still see all the detail. 2nd legacy engine. Woot woot lol
Wow! This is heaven! In Europe, it is rare to get American model railroads in stores in Europe, but they can be obtained online, but sometimes it is also cumbersome. Of course, there are plenty of European railway models in the shops. But I really like American trains.
@@Mike__B The track is as wide as in America. The biggest difference is in the look of railroad cars and locomotives. It's hard to describe, to see. In this video you can see European railway models, including many Hungarian wagons. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5Oh2XinDsEg.html
@@javorszkiandras1280 Well one thing that sticks out to me is the electric locomotives as they are practically non-existent in the US, as the US decided diesel was the way for modern vehicles. Also the US really doesn't have much in the way of passenger rail outside of local commuter trains, and any they do have most are going to be double decker, the Euro passenger cars had kind of an older feel to me back when the US was big with rail.
@@Mike__B In Europe, diesel locomotives and electric locomotives are still running at the same time, but diesel locomotives are slowly running only on sidings and in industrial areas. Here, electric locomotives are increasingly the fast delivery. It is very fashionable to travel between major European cities by passenger train, sometimes I also choose not the plane.
@@javorszkiandras1280 Yeah, that's one thing I'm definitely jealous of. I could hop on a train and go from San Francisco to Los Angeles taking half a day, and I'm still no where near where I want to be in Los Angeles. Or I could drive a car, take 7 hours including stops, and be exactly where I want plus having more people in the car won't cost extra.
Just found your channel, that’s cool store! Never new that! I’ll be checking out your other vids too. (Ps “anytime” I go to a hobby store, end of losing track of time…like a kid in a candy store! Haha)
Recently picked up a NYC S-2 from Charles Ro about a month ago. Brand new from Lionel it would cost $500. I got it from Charles Ro for $350. Not a scratch in her.
They have a huge selection of HO. There was a 15 minute store limit that I stretched to 20…. Better than when they were curbside pickup! Thanks for watching. -RTT
General industry complaint. Although I know I'm complaining about something that isn't going to change. I HATE it when a store displays stuff at floor level. Knee high or higher should be the minimum. I'm an old guy with not-so-good knees. Looking at stuff that requires that I crawl around on the floor to find it usually means I give it a pass.
I haven't been there for years. Appreciate the tour. I'm surprised they enforce a time limit on a quiet day (I distinctly remember busy it used to get). Do they still have an HO section? BTW, they own USA Trains.
@@AFONLY01 I watched again and saw some smaller trains where the HO stuff always used to be, so yeah I'd say they still have them. The tour doesn't go into that area. I hear you on layout space mostly. My Lionel Christmas layout sets up on a 30" x 5' folding table using 027 curves. 15" radius HO doesn't fit.
Yes they have a good selection of all scales. I wanted to keep the video to mostly O Scale this go round. I’ll have to explore more on the next trip. Thanks for tuning in. -RTT
I hate that they say "largest train store" it's not by far as I've been to several larger that were built long before the new building. Hell 75% of that bulding is mostly warehouse. Even MBK has a larger retail floor footprint. Went a few times about 10yrs ago as it was down the road and haven't been back since, especially after seeing their prices.
Edward thanks for tuning in! They carry all scales as you will see if you click on the link to their website provided in the description. Please be advised we were only allowed 15 minutes in the store due to Covid regulations. Again thank you for viewing, and have a lovely day. -RTT
I'm not sure what you mean by outline. But importing OO gauge stuff, especially the steam engines are rather popular here just not as popular as the larger gauges. I myself own a OO gauge layout with several models shipped from the UK.
A Large Store, but all I see are mainstream commercial ranges aimed at the "average modeller". No specialist ranges aimed at the more professionally minded and knowledgeable experts. I didn't even see Kadee !!! And nothing but US ranges, no European or Japanese, & certainly nothing exotic such as Korean, Brazillian or Hungarian brass. So I won't be calling this toy shop !!!
