multi hulls are great fun to watch going in a straight line but for the combat, and sheer number of competitors you can't beat the cups from 1983 to 2007 (excluding the 1988 debacle). Brilliant stuff.
every time i talk about the americas cup all the monohull fans just beat me down and say terrible things. I think this year is better than 2010 that was the most ridiculous year I think.
In my opinion: ruined. It's not like the all carbon "Black Magic" America's Cup class era was exactly ancient. It's also not like recent changes to the America's Cup has exactly captured the imaginations of the public either. So it can't be justified on that basis.
I'm willing to stand corrected come the 34th regatta but Cats just dont have the majesty of the ACC boats. Or 12Ms either for that matter. It looks all a bit bubble gum today sadly. And a best out of 17 final for 2013? Really, is that necessary?
