That’s because probably about 0.01% of the population here has read a single self-help book and probably 90% or more have spent LOTS of $$$ on alcohol, gambling, fast food, candy & drugs. And considering about 0.01% end up changing their circumstances you can see it’s really not a politicians job to help people change their attitudes and behaviours. The politicians job is to stay friendly and amass fortunes for their buddies, themselves and keep the peace with other countries. Nobody is going to help someone who genuinely does not try to better themselves in any way day after day. Such is free will 🤷♂️

I remember driving past the entrances of certain neighborhoods with my dad when I was a kid. They had armed police officers standing outside of their marked crown vic’s warning people not to enter in 2012/2013. During that time the CPD was disbanded and in the process of getting replaced by camden county police, the city was completely unpoliced and lawless. Cops didn’t enter, and didn’t patrol. The city was policeless. It was f*cking insane. Like a dystopian post-apocalyptic free-for-all. Most dangerous city on Earth in 2012, highest violent crime rate.
@@Roadtripmik I’d say among big cities Baltimore, St Louis, Cleveland and Memphis feel the most hopeless. At least New Orleans is a fun city despite all their problems
@@Entername-md1ev I would say cleveland is solid, new orleans is interesting but sketchy, Baltimore + st louis def major hoods: but theres good neighborhoods in Baltimore/st louis, Cleveland demolishes buildings but Baltimore just leaves up vacants
It's crazy to me how a city like this can just, persist and function and operate, like people live there, they still get money, they get electricity, they need food, the city needs large amounts of resources every day. Yet it looks like a lawless apocalyptic wasteland. Really surreal. I didn't know it was still this bad. I have been to NJ but only the very north, and though Newark might have some rough parts, I am not sure anywhere looks even close to this bad.
welcome to the garden state.i used to long haul out of canada,i would bring canadian beer down to philly hope over the ben franklin into camden and load scrape paper back to montreal.this was 25 years ago,the old black guy on the fork lift said to me son dont ever come in here at night.me a white boy.never had any problems.miss those days miss long haul.may do it again.love the us even the eastern seaboard.👍
How does it compare to Bridgeport or hood parts of New Haven, I have been to hood parts of New Haven and it didn't seem that bad, drove through Bridgeport but don't know what it's like
@@applejuice5635 I work in Paterson. It's not that bad. I wouldn't hang around at night. Same with Trenton. Same with Jersey City. Newark has really rough areas. Camden is the worst but the downtown, waterfront and college areas are pretty nice. NJ cities are cleaning up. It's a process but one thing rings completely true. These cities are filled with good honest working class people that just want a safe place to live and have pride for their neighborhoods.
@@JCVACCARO i'm from Newark and it's in fact not cleaning up Newark was 9th on the murder list before Chicago and it's way smaller. Camden is 10 minutes away from philly so they basically take on Phillies attitude same with Trenton Paterson isn't that bad either it has it's hoods but it's not as cutthroat as those other places
Hello, do you live in Canada? I'm from Central Asia, I watch your channel all the time. Can I go to Canada with a travel visa to work and live with my family? I like Canada, I want to, thank you
Jeeez, now this is bad. How can people let a place get to this awful state? The local politicians have failed this city. If there was an actual sense of community here and programs and funding, things would be different
"The city experienced white flight, as many White residents left the city for such segregated suburbs as Cherry Hill. In the 1960s, 1,289 families were displaced due the construction of the North-South Freeway, 85% of which were nonwhite families. " this is what google said when i asked .
@@softwetbread248 camden was white flight then apathy by the powers that be to my understanding . i woked with an old fella decades ago who grew up there , white , and he said in the summer when it got really hot everyone drug their mattresses out onto the sidewalk to sleep . the only constant is change ,
@@William.Shakespeare White flight was engineered by the fed and investors with redlining, the GI bill, and block busting. You don't just build a freeway in the middle of black communities, label it an unsafe area, deny black vets the ability to leave it, and then claim no part in it. Camden's situation is 100% fault of racist policies and government.
Im from nj and its rough considering it's size but its actually really small in comparison. It's more like a disconnected part of philly since It's literally 5 miles away, although in a different state. Idk I heard Chicago goes hard but Maybe it's one of those "grass is always worse on the other side type deals". Murder rate and drug sales are def high tho.
@@pauliewalnuts240 "I heard Chicago goes hard..." From who? New York? L.A.? Haven't you also heard about Detroit, Baltimore, Memphis, New Orleans, St. Louis, East St. Louis, Cleveland, K.C., D.C., Philadelphia, Little Rock, Milwaukee, Oakland, Gary, Mobile, Jackson, Birmingham, Flint, Louisville, Cincinnati, Newark, Atlanta, Buffalo, etc.? Have you heard the rumors about 9-11?
Why are you singling out Chicago? Just because New York & L.A. do that so much? Are you one of the sheeple? Don't you even understand what "per capita" means? What state are you from?
Many of the houses looked well kept. I suspect that the reason so many viewers perceive them as slums is not the crime statistics so much as the fact that the population is African American.
I like neighborhoods that look lived-in and neighbors gather in groups on the sidewalk, rather than sterile manicured neighborhoods. Perhaps you would do a walking tour and take us inside some of the numerous little corner markets. You can buy some stuff, like cheese-filled crackers and Slim Jims or whatever, give something back for the scratch you're making from gawking at their hood, and film the interactions like we're right there with you.
Do you say that to motion picture companies when they film inside neighborhoods ? You must not be familiar with this channel. He goes inside the stores, does street interviews, and recently did a food review at a hood restaurant in Detroit.
Many of the houses are far from dilapidated. The neighborhood would benefit from the city’s attention to streets, trash removal and demolition of abandoned houses.
I was in Camden to help a friend once (I'm from Reading). A homeless guy saw me nodding off in my car and asked me if I needed anything. I thought "wtf, let's do it." So we met up with his guy and got some real fire. It was just getting dark as we were picking up and I got the hell out of there (I'm an average white guy).
I'm from Reading. Happened to be in Camden one evening and met up with a homeless guy to find some. And fire it was. I almost drifted into the side of a semi on my drive home. Probably about 6 or 7 years ago. Everything is fent now isn't it? I've been on subs for 6 years.
What is it with whites and “nice cars”? They can’t have nice cars? They probably own their homes and can afford the nicer cars. How does it affect your life?
That changes fron year to year. Bessemer is usually near the top also along with E. St Louis and several others. Camden has consistantly been among the worst small towns since the 80's, at or near the top of the list more than any other small city in all the worst categories. Also Bessener is really small with only 25,000 not really even in the same class with Camden which has about 80,000.
Darn right depressing and trashy. Cannot imagine living in that type of environment. No privacy. No garage for your vehicle. Just park it on the sidewalk. 😮 Keep up the good work Charlie. Stay safe When are you going to do another food review?
Унылый райончик 😟 Слышала, что Нью-Джерси это богатый пригород. Что-то не похоже... // Depressing area 😟 I heard that New Jersey is a rich suburb. Something doesn't look like...
Well, images like that don't make me happy. If this happened in my country, I would be walking around with a read head with shame, deep below my navel! 😊
You don't have to actually see crimes being committed live on camera to prove a place in dangerous. I've driven through gang areas before and nothing happened, but I know it's dangerous. For your info the video I made in Camden about a week ago a man tried to abduct a woman and that was on camera.
@@rachelnan6875I fuck wit Wilmington DE it's popping out there and they definitely get busy and I'm from jersey city NJ been to Camden NJ alot too Camden just a lil worse over all
Stop it. People already know. Compton isn't bad. And doesn't look bad. Compton was worse back in the 80's and 90's just like everywhere else but was never as bad as those rappers pretended. Compton more famous than it is bad.
