It is an analogy but it is also reality. Trump does have a gold-plated bathtub. Character wise he would Let it ever draining run and run all year long. I think Trump derives pleasure from waste, making him feel more powerful and he is a junkie for that feeling.
I cannot tell the last time that I have ever listened to another interview that was so truthful and unbiased. He is so knowledgeable and makes such great analogies . He totally understands the whole political spectrum.
"Do you know how many times in my life I've hired the wrong person for a job and had to look at myself in the mirror and say, wow, I misjudged that, I got that wrong?" We need more people like Mr. Scaramucci. Self aware, fallible, thoughtful, and intelligent. I'd vote Scaramucci.
It is very hard to forgive someone who got into the Trump camp. He was one of the better ones, which is not a very high bar, and he is definitely very smart and honest compared to the usual but the fact that he was willing to jump on board with a scam artist, and miss the birth of his child because his power ambitions is a very hard to dismiss stain in him. Apparently he was perfectly OK with a structure built on dishonesty and only grew a spine after he was fired. It's still a good thing but I'd prefer someone who was honest from the beginning. I prefer him to be a political commentator because he is definitely very knowledgeable, smart and seems very non-partisan.
@@blb1954he became that though. So, tell me, the ‘American dream’, which he achieved he is penalized for…what earns respect? Should a person not go that path if they can, in order to appease your anger at the capitalist system you live in? Is it jealousy? What is it? It’s a weird irony to tout the United States as a place to pursue such dreams…yet if a person achieves them, they are ridiculed? I myself am not driven to that definition of “success”…the riches etc. I also don’t love the way that some achieve that wealth. However, it is a system we live in. You can vote for changes, get in office, do something if you don’t like it. I just wonder if you’ve analyzed why you categorize him in a simple way. He’s from a working class and propelled himself somewhere else. Should he have refused the opportunities?
I’m liberal yet always enjoy hearing what Anthony has to say. It would be AWESOME if both sides could talk with each other using Anthony’s style: We’re people first, and our political parties shouldn’t define us. How can we get there?
I actually think this guy is right on with his analysis. He is far more intelligent than I thought. Thoroughly enjoyed this interview and gained respect for AS.
@@4thumbsdown I think he got caught up in the whirlpool that surrounded Trump as the campaign had progressed. Followed by an incomprehensible amount of Trump's antics, the appointments made, the people sacked, the people who left. Scaramucci must have felt trapped as it began dawning on him how awful, and stupid Trump really was as president. Perhaps he'd seen Trump do lots of stupid stuff, but dismissed it from his mind. Everyone was caught up in the seemingly endless horrors of Trump's earliest days.
I've listened to so many of Anthony s interviews and I'm so shocked at the wisdom he possesses. He knows exactly what the problem is and knows exactly how to explain it on a level people can understand. It's a shame he was fired from the White House. I truly believe things would be different today in this country if he was never fired.
This is remarkably insightful. Scaramucci has a gift of fast learning in real time. Mr. Scaramucci and Steve Schmidt are my two hands-down favorite Americans of the year.
Thanks to Frontline and RU-vid the history of the fall of the American Empire will be documented and preserved. Hundreds of years from now someone will be watching this video to do research for their Phd.
@@markboliek6130 Watch clips of The Mooch prior to him joining the Trump Team. He always hated Trump. Then Trump started paying him lots of money and he became Trump Defender #1 for a short while. When Trump stopped paying him he began to revert back to his original opinions. Kind of like Kelly Ann Conway, who was also very anti-Trump before she signed onto the Trump team. These people aren't stupid, they're just opportunists who lack integrity.
Robert Schrader I agree- though I would wish to add that he still is as always adapting his comments to the moment... his rarely stands on the same foot... What he says about trump not being able to find his team in levels of government... he avoids talking about the resistance of government employees due to the illegal and or non constitutional path his administration was set forth to undertake under trumps “guidance” ....
Really Enjoyed listening to this Guy. As a Die Hard Democrat (Liberal) I feel if more people (Republicans) take a approach like Mooch, then we’ll find we have more in common then the massive differences we believe we have.
Very insightful interview - Mr. Scaramucci gives insider's view of politics at its' highest level. He's a very intelligent & well spoken guy yet at times self-deprecating. Thank you Frontline!
I appreciate Mr. Scaramucci tremendously because he's one of the few that actually articulates President Trump, how we got to where we are today politically and the origins of some of its players. He's intelligent and honestly could have taken a different approach after his brief time in the Trump administration.
@@sford2044You Must NOT be Too Bright!! exactly the opposite of what you say!! You just don’t like hearing the painful truth of things!! that’s all! They don’t always tell you things that you wanna hear!! He’s definitely NOT a “YES MAN! “ Like Trump wanted!! that’s why he was fired!! Remember Trump knows more than the generals!😳😱🙈🙈🙈🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yep liking more and more, got burnt, admits it and is able to give his opinion without resentment or partisanship. Not too many out there like him. Maybe learning from Obama....
These extended interviews reinforce why I appreciate Frontline. These segments also prove that media, especially, the short format common to electronic media can shape and distort how someone comes across. Many of the sound bites I saw made this guy appear like an arrogant airhead. This extended time period allows him to come across as sane, articulate and less like a zealot with a limited understanding of what they espouse zeal for.
He was an arrogant airhead during his 11 days in the WH, but by the time this was filmed he'd already spent about a year trying to rehab is image and speak out against Trump.
Anthony Scaramucci suddenly became a Trump opponent after the gov't prevented him from selling his hedge fund to China. I'd keep the 'respect' in check until that is cleared up.
@lawomann You're right. Nothing to clear up. Anthony Scaramucci lost his job with the President because he was going to take a bribe from China. Plain fact.
I was pleasantly surprised at the honesty of Scaramucci. My opinion of him has changed ... I thought his observations and analysis were insightful... I think he has a good understanding of Trump and what his core support saw in him. Really interesting interview!
This is the straightforward TRUTH America like it or not! Oh I am not a Republican or Conservative. As a matter of fact I didn't like the Mooch until he came clean from the Trump administration. TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE.👍
Paul Kruse Yes, I agree. Once he broke from Trump, he seems to have calmed down and gained an introspective point of view. He speaks intelligently here.
The Mooch has a good redemption arc, glad he turned it around and came out on top in the annals of history in the end. Seems like a genuinely smart and nice guy.
Haha loved this comment ... Exactly anyone who is rational, logical, experienced in politics, life long services in the army or someone who is smart expert knowledgeable on all things related to how to run a government Trump will not like and will surely be an obstacle to his corrupted ways
Christopher Chilton-Smith he’s an opportunist. The opportunity presented itself so he sided with Trump. He was one of the biggest trump defenders in the media for years. When Trump turned on him, he turned on Trump to protect himself and became a vocal anti-trump voice
I give Scaramucci his props "just due" he was forthright and pretty honest. "Trump has turned into demigod, the founding fathers set it up to eject demigods." America needs to let Trump go.
Hes ALWAYS thought he was a Demigod.. only chumps believed it and other grifters.. . sorry moochers.. hes ALWAYS been a Douchebag. you live in NYC.. ask around
intelligent people who understand the historic importance of American Constitutional governance over all other models know that Trump was the only realistic choice to support in 2016 and 2020. anyone claiming otherwise is a liar, a fool, or both.
These Frontline interviews are great. The interviewee is allowed to speak frankly and at length. One may disagree with the content or statements, but it is certainly rewarding to able to listen to what they have to say without edits or commercial breaks.
I always thought Scaramucci was a lightweight but this interview certainly argued against that. He's very insightful and as a result I've a newfound respect for him... if only he could've been allowed to put those insights to work for this country when he was in the administration, but that, of course, was not possible because: anything trump touches dies, due to his numerous personality flaws.
say what you will about this guy but give him the credit he deserves for a smart Italian kid with immigrant grandparents growing up in a real working class home who through hard work got himself to be a true American success story....this is why our grandparents left the old country...
This is a well educated man with excellent people instincts. He does a very credible job of explaining the truth from the inside without being one sided. I believe him to have integrity.
I respect Anthony because he is pragmatic like me. people in the comment section instead of blaming him and trash talk him, you should thank him for speaking out. But im only a Swede, so i guess im stupid to understand that people can have a change of heart.. Also think its important to listen and talk to the other side because only then you can convince them that they are wrong.
Pierre Berglund you assume his opinions are facts. You assume that he is speaking with no malice or hidden agenda to undermine the president. You assume he is like you. You assume...
His analytical analysis of Trump and why he failed as president was spot on. I admired Anthony Scaramucci for using the PBS platform to speak candidly about Trump, the man, rather than to speak vindictively or grinding an ax about his failed position and personal shortcomings with Trump and WH politics. Great interview!!
Gus Jackson , What? Disaster? Which part is the disaster? The media’s handling of Trump, maybe? The deep states constant attempts to remove him or prevent him from being in office? The never Trumper‘s constant miss representation of Trump’s agenda? Just to be clear, most people believe they are doing much better under this president than any president over the last 30 years. The average man can see that Trump actually gives a damn about them. Trump has a high likelihood of being reelected in an electoral landslide. Go back and look at the election in 1984 as a reference.
This guy is really well spoken. I have never paid attention to him until the last couple of weeks. This guy would be great to be able to eat lunch with and listen too.
Just because people speak differently doesn't mean they shouldn't associate or even work together. Trump is a classic New York Businessman, who will talk very differently from a Goldman Sacks guy...They both understand the system, they understand its broken - benefiting the elites only. And yes, they are part of the elite, that's why they understand what's going on where your average Joe wouldn't know their politicians are selling them out for Campaign donations.
@@samuelwatson1445 oh for crying out loud the man is a terrible business who has filed for bankruptcy numerous times and now he's bankrupt this country. He's an idiot.
@@yvettesavo18 You've obviously never owned a business. Trumps had over 150 businesses and 7 have gone bankrupt. Look at the average bankruptcy rate for businesses. Go on, Google it. Such an argument can only be born in ignorance of how real business works. Sometimes businesses fail, it's normal. Trumps success rate is extremely high.
I remember the Obama time very fondly. He had zero criminal indictments in his administration compared to Trumps hundreds and counting. How I miss Obama, every damn day.
Really enjoy what Frontline offers. A bit more investigative than CSPAN, but still nice to cut through the bull without out all the constant pundit opinion.
I knew Scaramucce was cerebral but in this interview he gives us a look into just how thoughtful and intellectual he really is. And he is self-effacing and charming.
The Mooch is in complete denial of how far right and how militant the Trump base is. They are talking about civil war and spew toxic White Nationalism.
@@hebber1961 You are in the bubble. You're 30-40% of the public. The rest of us see you for what you are. Nobody is wearing those MAGA hats anymore in public. I rarely see them where I live. You all watch one news station...that is the definition of a bubble.
@@bwagner1800 Well first of all, I live in YOUR bubble. We all do. Unlike lefties, I get news from many areas. How would you know where I get news? I'm here for one thing, watching you watch an opportunist and all the lefties loving him...now that he trashes Trump. lol. Secondly, Brian Wagner's poll of MAGA hats should be tried by pollsters. It's only slightly less dumb than their methods. Did you ever think that people don't like to be attacked for wearing them? Open minded, caring lefties who attack people for a hat. That's many of you and if you don't participate, you certainly like those that do. Who's extremist here? So far, you think a large segment of the population is far right and militant, and a hat poll is an indication of support... oh and that a country on a massive economic rebound, is in distress. lol Just stop while you're behind.
Wow, I never saw this side of Anthony Saramucci. To be fair, he was only in the spotlight for 11 days... This interview shows an incredible insight into this time in history. I am very impressed with Anthony. Well done Anthony and PBS!!!!!
Scaramucci has a Harvard law degree, speaks well and looks good - So why hasn’t CNN or MSNBC or FOX given him a show yet? He obviously is looking for a gig .... they should give him a shot.
Clinton went to Kentucky--met with many people in a round table to discuss what was important to them. They attacked her--whether because of their character deficiencies or because they were used, she tried to explain the importance of training them for new jobs in their communities so they could stay there where they wanted to be, but get the new jobs such as maintaining the robotic equipment that had replaced so many in factories. THEY ATTACKED HER--CUSSING AT HER, disrespecting her. How dare she expect them to go to school! How dare she? She did not create the need to re-educate oneself for new jobs as decades pass! As tho it is so "elitist." They had enough school...well, then they are the people who no one wants to hire--ans anyone who says differently, like Trump, lied to them. I took night classes to improve and expand my skills throughout my career, after 7 yrs college/law school--it's not elitist, it's competing with the other guy for the one job that will remain in 5 yrs. Ivanka is now out there pretending she invented retraining workers! Aerospace companies have done this for 50 yrs. You retrain or you give up. But Hillary was lambasted for heartfelt, hardworked efforts to help those "forgotten" people. Trump used them, lied to them. More coal plants have closed, he did not stick by them with their insurance and pension issues that Hillary was right there to help them with. He cut their job training and job finding assistance, energy bill assistance, and came up with insane plans to force people nationwide to pay extra line items on energy bills to support coal mine owner billionaires on energy bills in places that stopped uring coal in the early 1980s bc Calif air was so filthy, little kids had asthma just bc of the air their breathed. So force these parents, grannies on SocSec, people on small pensions or min wage to support billionaire coal mine owners? It's insane! Coal miners have been used, made the worst decisios in history.
Some folks reach a point that they dont want to be educated further. The stress and fear and insult that they feel in being told what they do isn't good enough. I understand how those folks may have felt. You think uneducated people are clueless about themselves, but maybe they understand their own ability to learn and were striking out as a survival reaction.
Thank you FRONTLINE.I like this guy.hes f-ing smart an has a sense of decency and seems to be objective about the issues. ..respect ,,,i wish every one in washington would aspire to be like Anthony Scaramucci.
This interview is more relevant now, four years later than it has ever been. I hope PBS re-airs it in the coming months. Recognizing the forgotten, capitalizing upon their angst and feelings of disenfranchisement, the rejection of intellectuals, attacking academia and the media are textbook tactics of the most successful fascists in the history of mankind. The Trump book was brazenly selfishly focused. He reveled in it. His reckless selfishness made him an icon of the 80's. Now he has transformed his image into that of a person who is in the corner of the common man. That narrative shift was a remarkable metamorphosis. You are me and I am you. "I am your voice, I am your retribution." I am persecuted for you. As drastic as it seems from the outside it is not in contrast with the disorders that are known for their lack of personal boundaries. The manipulative, exploitative, selfish and entitled personality with a lack of empathy is one with an impaired ego. Is it responsible or safe to put one of the world's most powerful military forces in the hands of an egomaniac?
I am surprised at how Scaramucci sounds so intelligent here. His brief tenure at the White House made him appear dumb at that time. So this is quite a revelation.
After watching the Bannon interview, I love hearing all of these different perspectives and how they slot together. On surface, what they're saying seems to contradict each other, but each interview is like one piece in the big puzzle, and these interviews, taken together, fills in each other's blind spots and you really start to see what's going on.
Right. Except Anthony Scaramucci suddenly became a Trump opponent after the gov't prevented him from selling his hedge fund to China. So there is that.
Str8Shooter Scaramucci is one of the most self-serving people to ever be on camera. The purest form of opportunist. I don’t think he is capable of speaking the truth, ever.
@@thomass5169 Agreed. The only questioned never asked here is why Anthony Scaramucci suddenly became a Trump opponent after the gov't prevented him from selling his hedge fund to China.
After going from not liking to admiring him nobody articulates as well as Mr. Scaramucci he knows what the problem is and how to explain it well.....I hope he would get make into politics in the future.
Really good interview. It provided a good inside to Trump and it showed Mr Scaramucci as a smart man, I didn't know either of those things before this interview.
