Thanks for a thorough view of pretty much everything in the park - especially that last pool, which most people have only shown for a second or two. That park is probably gonna get graffiti'd all to hell, so it's cool to see it all clean and pristine. Well done!
Thing to note after skating this for the last year plus. 1. That’s a rounded top not a flat bar. 2. Ground unless it’s just rained can be very dusty and will cake your grip tape on occasions. 3.coping is fairly good not super recessed for good lock in on transition tricks. 4. The wow sign is skate able but definitely extreme transitions. 5. The park is fairly clean on a regular basis. 6. Bathrooms are decent as well. 7. All transitions are very smooth 8. Night riding at night during the summer are usually packed 9. It’s typically more windy bc of the location near the river but also makes it cooler. 10. It’s amazing. Cardio for days :)
First off, the red metal skate art looks cool and all and I'd be willing to give it a try but it is narrow and can be quite hazardous. Then long ledges next to it are great but being so close to the metal skate art will all it's exposed hard edges I can see a few skaters very probably bailing off the ledges and hitting their heads or bodies against those many hard metal red edges. The skate art should be further away from any other skate obstacles to not be a hazard. To me given how narrow and strangely shaped it is I feel that it is more of a novelty obstacle that will only be skated a little than alot. Sort of like a carnival game that is fun to give it a go just to see how it is then move on to the next thing. We are having skate park meetings in my town and I will totally recommend watching these videos for design ideas but we will omit all the unnecessary ones to not waste money time and effort.
Personally for me it's a 9 of 10. Its truly a masterpiece. My only quarrel is the big jump in the bowl and it's not 24 hours but I understand that case. Have fun
This seems like a pretty good skate park. I live in Grimes, but I think I'll go and see this. I don't skateboard anymore, but it would be fun to watch. I wonder why this place is in Des Moines. I would think a city like Los Angeles would be better. It has more people and you can skateboard all year round. I wonder how long this place will be around.
