@@SimonSarka1 Nah, Belgium is Black, Yellow, Red. Germany is Black, Red, Yellow. However, the mind game the Netherlands and Luxembourg are playing is vile💀
i understand that americans focus more on learning their states than other countries but there are other countries who have states and manage to learn both so i feel like that's a poor excuse for the american education system xD
Oh yeah, here in Austria back in school we had to learn our 9 federal states as well as the 16 German ones. On top of that 5 Swiss cantons, 3 Italian provinces and 2 Hungarian counties.
In Lithuania we had to learn all 60 municipalities of our country as well as every other country in the world with their capital cities, so yeah that's a poor excuse
I think most Luxembourgs think the same.. We were somewhere on the map, weren't we? Benelux should fuse, with 2 standard languages Dutch and English (as already usual in the Netherlands). A standard language for the country and a bridging language for international trade.
@@You-mr3lo But in Luxembourg and the Southern of Belgium, they speak French as well. So I don't think they would be happy living in a country with only Dutch and English language
@@You-mr3lo many words are similar just like English. English is a germanic language. So if you can only speak English the germanic languages: dutch, German and i geuss belgian?( Cause its a tiny tiny bit different then dutch) is the easiest languages to learn
I can get Europe perfectly, US states and Asia 70% or so, my Africa knowledge is pretty bad though. I can tell you the general area the country is in, but not point it out directly.
I got 100% in Europe, South- and North America, I got all the U.S. states except 1 in New England area. Then I got all the Asian ones correct but I guessed a little on the Stan- nations and in Africa I got all except some in the Liberia, Niger, Sierra Leon area.
This guy is like “I wanna see you try the states of the united states.” But these are like literal countries u could tell us to do countries in North America but if u are going to say states in united states I would A: definitely do better than this and B: not to be compared to this but than u should compare it to like provinces en counties within those European countries because that is the same level of geography
Welp, first of all I got 98% on the US test just because I clicked on Delaware instead of Maryland. Used the same kind of system where it would tell you and makes sure you can't press the same one after you got it right, so this test was insanely easy.
Same. And I've even heard of them all! I hate that Americans compare their geography to Europe - a US state isn't equal to an actual country! Do I expect you to know all of Croatia's subdivisions? No.
In school for geography we did a different one of these quizzes every Friday (not as a test but for fun) so I honestly feel like I could do this for any continent quite well but I've heard Americans don't get taught history or geography other than their own
@@beatrizribeiro1811 if the country with states is about as big as the continent, and there are about as much states as there are countries, it actually is quite comparable
@@stephmod7434 Cyprus actually is "divided", the northern part is mainly turkish and is only recognised as an official country by Turkey (what a shock, I know), the south is mainly greek and is recognised as an official country by everyone, including Turkey. The strip of land that would be the "border" belongs to the EU as a whole to prevent clashes and the UK owns some land because... empire.
placing the UK, France, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, Australia, Japan, China, India, Italy... (any many more) on a map should be as easy as placing California, Florida, Texas, Hawaii or New York on the US map
Right? Some countries you just should know where they are from history or just common sense. When he couldn't find Germany even though he clicked on it like 6 times before and the game told him it was Germany...Jesus.
When you couldn't find Germany I started laughing so hard, omg!! And the way you click near Russia for the Netherlands, it's on the other side of the map, hahaha
I mean.. A map is one google search away. Almost everybody has 24/7 access to the world wide web. We live in the age of constant information. This dude is an adult, if he doesn't know basic geography by now that's his fault.
There's no inherent shame. Like you should know a portion or at least know their geographic proximity, but like most knowledge it's easy to forget when you don't constantly use/look at it.
4:00 The thing is that the states of the USA are not independent countries, they are just "regions". They have no importance on the international scene. If they were, we would learn about them in detail just like about every other independent country in other continents. We still learn about the USA states though, even if they are not countries, while we don't learn about the states of Mexico or Brazil, so the USA states are getting special attention. For every country, we had to be able to find them on map, know the capital and other major cities, important regions, know the geography (rivers, lakes, mountains...), what minerals are mined, animal production, plants grown, important industries, population, size of country, languages... that's what all of us learn for every country and have to know it from memory for regular exams. Of course, with so much information you forget most of it later in life, if you don't keep hearing or reading about it, but the basic knowledge about the world will stay with you. It's not your fault that american schools don't teach at least the minimum of world geography though, at least the names of all the countries. Now you know a little more about the european countries and that's cool, right? School is not the only place where we learn. 🙂
Not just that but we Europeans have at least heard of every US state… while many Americans have never heard of the majority of countries here - plus, now consider these are actually relevant politically and culturally unlike the individual States 🤡
With us was the same. And it is true that due to many information lots of is forgotten but still we have pretty good general knowledge about world countries and their histories. I wasn't even aware until I moved to Belgium and in my language classes I met so many people from all over the world. They were generally impressed with all the things I knew about their countries and that they didn't need to explain at least basics.
The thing i forget the most are the lakes and mountains that they teached me. But i can still name every country in europe, north and south America, oceania and i can name most of the capitals. We dont learn much about asia and africa. But i learned it myself. And i can name all countries in asia and africa but sometimes i forget a couple
“I’ve never even heard of San Marino”, literally you’ve been talking about how Flo Rida represented San Marino in like every single reaction on Eurovision. Also, keep saying “easy” in the end when you had already clicked the country 10 times thinking it was a completely different country each time… bro 😅 I would love to see the difference if it hadn’t revealed the wrong answers so you could learn from your mistakes.
The states are also not that difficult for the most part but why should we need to know where there are. Wheres Catalonia in Spain, brittany in France, wales in the uk, Tuscany in Italy etc etc?
You know, the US were a colony of an European country and your ancestors were European so you should know European history before 1776. It is impossible to understand what happened in the past without knowing WHERE those events happened. Then, you know, 2 world wars have changed this world: European countries are no longer superpowers and US is the only superpower left. You should know what happened in those wars and so you should know where European countries are.
In Spain we have to learn and take exams of the physical and political geography of our country, Europe, Asia, Africa, Oceania and America. Why don't Americans make an effort to learn and study things that are not from their country? 😅🤔😑
One word: funding. That’s why. Schools are not entirely supported by the federal government. They are funded by their own state and within each state it’s by school district. The more people are willing to pay taxes for education, the better the school. Sadly, there are many who don’t wish to pay for education because they either haven’t got children or their children are no longer in school, so why should they pay for something they don’t use 🤦🏻♀️ And, yes, I’ve actually heard those used as arguments, so not something I made up.
Okay but who is gonna spend their free time studying maps, when we should have been taught that in school. You can always just easily look up where places are located on google, so memorizing seems kind of pointless.
@@kamoko99 someone who cares about being educated and wants to know about other parts of the world too. so it's a choice to just stay uneducated and if you don't bother learning about other countries, maybe you shouldn't get so defensive about it, you could do it if you wanted to, you just chose not to. not trying to be rude, just a thought
@@yeppp00 What I meant was, it's not an essential thing to know, when we should be learning more important things in school that we will use in our day to day lives like how to pay taxes, buy cars, set up bank accounts, apply for jobs, etc. Anyone who wants to be "educated" about where Morocco is, is completely within their rights to do so. It's just that after we graduate from school, we have bigger things to be worried about than geography. And it's not fair to call someone who doesn't know where every single country on the European map is, "ignorant." It's a nice thing to know, but not essential. And most people forget that kinda thing after a couple years cause they never use it unless they are in a job that involves geography (hence why it's not important to the vast majority). You can always learn that later in life when you maybe want to travel, but to be taught that in the school system seems like a waste of time, imo. In America, the school system is trash don't get me wrong, but we are also more concerned with other things we find more important; so it's not fair to call us "uneducated" because we don't learn the same way you do. I got formal education and went to school, so I am educated; just not on certain subjects, just like you probably aren't educated on certain subjects either. But that's not our fault, it's the school's fault. And most of us aren't concerned with maps on our free time cause we got the internet for that so...😂(it's just my opinion)
@@kamoko99 i get your point and i should have said this in my first comment; i don't mean that if you can't place each country on a map, you're automatically uneducated. it came out the wrong way and i'm sorry for that. i was just saying that putting all of the blame on education system is kind of stupid bc if you wanted to learn, you could. not saying you have to or that you're stupid if you don't do so. i just don't understand when ppl say that there's no way they could know these things bc they weren't taught that in school, when you could educate yourself. that was the point. but yes you're right, not knowing every country in every continent doesn't mean you can't be educated on something else. i'm really sorry if my comment offended you, it was not meant to do so. also sorry for my english
@@yeppp00 It's okay, I understand where you were coming from. We just have different views on geography, but yeah of course people can learn if they wanted to. (And your English was great btw)
the problem is not that you can't place every country perfectly on the map, because honestly, i'm from Europe and i can't either (i could at one point bc we learned that in school but after a few years you forget). the problem is that you're kinda clueless about random stuff that everyone should know, like you asked if morocco was in Europe? when everyone should know it's in Africa? and i don't blame anyone if they can't place Morocco perfectly on a map but you should at least know which continent it is from... i couldn't place every state in the US, the main ones could be really easy but most Americans can't place France or the UK on a map, most think Africa is a country.. and if you ask them questions about countries bellow Mexico they wouldn't know either.. now, i's not YOUR fault, it's the school system i guess... the idea of only learning this history of my country in school kinda sucks, i can't picture how geography classes are like in the US, like??? but ngl i got mad at my screen a few times watching this lol sorry
I starred reading an atlas at age 7, so I knew where every European country was located, US states and other nations around the world. This was in 1980. Since then many borders or country names have changed, but I can tell which continent it belongs to if I cannot point the exact location. So yes, it’s also a matter of curiosity as well as school.
@@sturtl same aulthough i started in 5th. I will say some of my classmates act like they don’t know what the gulf of mexico is and thought the gulf of mississippi, florida, and ireland was a thing. so honestly, at this point, im not surprised anymore
US states arent even an equal. its like learning russian oblasts, not european countries. and europeans could probably do much better than americans even on north america quizzes
I love how when searching for Monaco he says "I'm just gonna click on a smaller one" AND THEN HE CLICKS ON MOTHERF*CKING RUSSIA!!!! Literally the largest country in the world. I'm crying 🤣🤣🤣
What's interesting to hear is that the names of the countries come up as only names and for American nothing comes with association with them. We learn a map at school but in a very forgettable way - location + a name. But as we grow and talk with other people we learn some characteristics of various countries, so even if I didn't know where Lithuania is, a clue for me would be knowing it's a Baltic country, for Kosovo we have a meme "Kosovo je Srbia", so I wouldn't think it's near Russia because Serbia is somewhere in the Balcans, I wouldn't look for Lichtenstein in the East because the name sounds Germanic and Germanic languages are being spoken in the west, Austria wouldn't be on the northern part because the names of both Austria and Australia indicate south ect. Looks like in the US nobody really talks about Europe in casual conversations and I never thought about that, that's an interesting insight I got. And as a Pole I got a bit sad that Poland got association with East while we're in Central Europe right above Czechs and Slovacs :< I have no idea where that association comes from since culturally we have much more in common with the West
As an European: I had to learn all European countries plus capital cities and find them on a map in 5th grade for a geography test (means I was 11 years old) and I still know all of them xD
Fun video You didn’t do that bad. 🤷♀️ There was a few times I almost screamed at the screen though, but that’s probably because we had a test on all European countries and capitals in primary school. 😅 Love from Norway 🇳🇴
The fact that he says in the end "oh easy, easy, l make a comeback.." after trying placing 15 countries before on the same spot and reading therefore the name over and over again and has only 5 spots left. He tried placing Belgium in Spain (because it must be a big country) and didn't know where Germany is 🙈
You can’t blame schools for everything. Schools in my area teach geography well, yet I didn’t know anything back then, I didn’t care, and it was my fault that I was an ignorant fool. Then I came through and learned a lot about geography on my own, without any school. Not saying that as a praise to myself, of course, I’m just saying that schools is one of many tools available for knowledge, and if you don’t know something valid and you recognize it as an issue yet do nothing about it, the issue is not in schools
i feel like the American school system is just shit cause we learn about the united states in grade 7(speaking bout germany) and could definitely place more than half of them right
same with Cyprus, and he did do a video on all winners right? so he should have heard of Monaco, they won one time and Monaco is very famous for F1 racing
Well,I can’t really blame you lad.I will blame the United States’s teaching system.it’s VERY different from us europeans(coming from the UK)(can you please react to more One Direction please)
Monaco is basically richer France. Something stupid like a third of the population are millionaires, the Monaco Grand Prix is the most prestigious F1 race and they have a bunch of casinos and stuff. That's about all people need to know about the place.
I'm from Europe and I've lived here my whole life and I got 56%, SOME of yall Europeans act like just because you're from Europe you know everything about geography.
Jeffrey: "Where's Luxembourg, where's Luxembourg, where's Luxembourg" Me as someone from Luxembourg: 👁👄👁 Anyway, you didn't do that bad. You did pretty good, actually!
Hey, be glad, if the USAians don't know where you are, you're harder to bomb. The money is mostly done online, so that's not a problem. Je suis trés heureux, les Pays-Bas et la Belgique sont rouges. Hup Benelux! Groetjes uit Nederland.
I am Italian too and I just know American countries (not US states), Asian and European countries. African countries? Never studied. I know because of history where Morocco, Algeria, Libya, Egypt and few others are, but I don't have a real knowledge of those countries and so many Italians.
At least you have the confidence to admit and show your mistakes. 🙏 But they're not your fault; from what I've heard schools in the US don't even cover European geography... Well, we hardly covered Africa (at my German school), which Africans might find very weird. But now you're learning! It's never too late to get excited about geography! 😅 (I'm a huge geo nerd).
I’m from Jersey which is the biggest channel island. The Channel Islands are between the uk and France. Jersey is small but not as small as the other ones. You have probably never heard of Jersey that is why I commented it as it’s in Europe. It has a lot of history and Henry Cavill was born here. 🇯🇪😀
I feel like the percentage he got was way to high. They kept telling which country it would be if he made a mistake. Which told him the names even though he didn't know them
lol, well this was surely entertaining. Glad you decided to make a video out of this and to be honest, 43% was way more than i ever expect anyone not living over here getting XD
This was amazing😂 as someone from the Netherlands, I'll say that most people here don't have a clue about all those small countries like Kosovo and Montenegro either. I think I'm gonna do a quiz like this on the States now to better my knowledge
As a geography and history nerd, this hurt so badly, but was somehow still enjoyable, and I would like to see you attempt Asia next. (Btw nowadays I never get anything less than 95% on the world map)
Speaking for Germany (we have a kinda different school system) in Highschool (grade 11-12/13) we get to chose the 5 courses we will have exams in and if you have English you have a whole semester about the United States and to get a good grade we had to memorise where the states are and what their capital is. I think I could still name about 75% maybe more. The first time we had to name the states our teacher didn't grade the test I got about 60% right and after learning about the states I got 100% correct. However I'm not sure if everybody could do it.
Unfortunately we didn't do that at my German school. But we do have 16 completely different school systems in Germany! I would have aced that kind of test! 😭😭
Girl the way this dude says “easy” whenever he manages to get something right is making me want to THROW MY PHONE ACROSS THE ROOM. Bestie don’t act like you know shit and then get a 43% on the easiest task imaginable
This title is amazing btw, definitely got me to click. I respect you doing this even though you knew you probably wouldn't get a high score and that first one when you said Monaako had me dying laughing. You: "I've never heard of this country before". Europeans: Yeah bro, we can tell 😂❤ You did way better than I expected though and that Cyprus guess was insane!
You clicked like 6 times on Germany already and saw that it was Germany and then when it finally asked you were Germany was you still had no clue. How can you not know where Germany is, lol?
lol I had to laugh I'm srr when you said my country (Belgium) was one of the bigger ones xD. I was like: "yep, sure click the bigger ones left, becuz we are literally one of the smaller countries in Europe" xD. Most people don't know we are even a country but at least netflix loves us :p mentioning us when they can. and i had a year in high school when we literally have to know all countries, islands with capitals of the world :O. + we even have to learn US states with capitals. It's a fail in the US system but it's always funny to see them try.
I thought "Americans are dumb a geography" was just a meme but it turns out it was true 😂 I got 100 in 3 minutes, and 92 in 4 minutes for America and US states is 96 in 4 minutes
sometimes i’m quite shocked when i watch these videos as a european also because in europe, we learn a lot about other countries but i feel like some americans don’t know anything about europe. sometimes you were right on the countries and i just thought: click it!! but then you clicked on another country though i think that half of the europeans only know like 65% of the countries cause there are so many little countries and most of the southeastern countries used to belong to yugoslavia, that’s why it’s quite hard to get those right.
