This is way before his days with Journey. Cain was in "The Baby's" in the late 70's before joining Journey.

On this day in 1976 {February 28th} Jonathan Cain performed "'Til It's Time To Say Goodbye" on the Dick Clark ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'... At the time the song was at #44 on Billboard's Top 100 chart, that would also be it's peak position on the chart, and it spent nine weeks on the Top 100... In 1980 he joined Journey and was co-composer on all ten tracks of the group's seventh studio album, 'Escape', and on September 6th, 1981 the album peaked at #1 {for 1 week} on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart... Jonathan Cain, born Jonathan Leonard, celebrated his 68th birthday two days ago on February 26th {2018}...

@@chhangzhou Until C.V. hit he was still playing several nights a week. He's taking this "time off" to work on some original material in his studio.

Looked for the song on RU-vid and nothing. Then googled it and still nothing. Put his name and solo album and nothing. I bet the song they played first was the more known song, even if not well known. Maybe Chris can give us the name of the song they played before the interview. That or some other song that can be found to listen to. Or maybe even upload the album:

@Caroline It is a cool tune that Jon co-wrote with a singer songwriter named Candy Kane (no relation to the late blues singer) about a woman trying to escape an abusive situation. I played guitar with Jon back in those days and did the records and this show with him. I have been looking for the performances from this show but so far no luck.
