This specific scene had me thinking about how good the detail attention was, when Lester tells Carolyn that she looks different and great, you can really see that in the actress aspect and in the same way that lester, she looks different but you don't know why
Yeah, she is an amazing actress, I just listen to a podcast break down this movie, and they talk about how her character is written as a complete ice, queen, and that there is a a lot of redeeming qualities in her, but in Annette Bening‘s hands, see, plays it with hard, and really made this character fully slashed out and three dimensional. They also brought out some thing that I thought was pretty funny. It seems like you know this movie, so if you’ll remember, they go on some Miguel after this, and she makes one remarks about him putting his beer down because it’s a $3000 couch, and he flips outs, totally abandons the intimate moment, and goes on a diatribe about how she’s a stuck up person… I get that he’s regressing and rebelling, but I just feel like if he hasn’t had relations with her in a very long time which is implied… Just put your beer down… I mean shit if I spent $3000 on reupholstering a couch , I mean, it’s not too much to ask on her part is all I’m saying, and she honestly gets a bad rap throughout the whole movie because she’s unhappy just like him, but he is quitting his job, they have a child together and he’s just abandoning all responsibility. Don’t get me wrong is a great movie, but I feel like a Lester isn’t quite as cool as I thought he was when I first watch this movie
I take it you haven’t seen the rest of the film then? 🤣 I have my thoughts on Kevin Spacey as an individual but the guy is one hell of an actor and that cannot be denied, this is one of his best performances. The monotone sarcastic, almost lifeless arguing they’re having is entirely intentional in this scene, as it is throughout most of the film. That’s why she sits down so over-dramatically, she’s trying to provoke him and it doesn’t work.
