Jdm has a lot of fanboys that are willing to buy into the hype for their cars. American Muscle guys think more logically, why the hell would you pay $40k for an SVT Cobra when you can pay that much for an s550 mustang GT. Jdm fanboys on the other hand are willing to pay $100k for a mk4 supra but wont even consider buying a 2022 supra.
In fairness, the viper was fairly limited run and we won’t be seeing anything else like in terms of a replacement so I can sort of seen why they’re are where they’re at no, new edge mustangs on the other hand…
New Edge Mustangs are getting less and less common to see in good condition these days and the Cobra was a car that held almost legendary street racing status 15 years ago. That's why their values are up right now. Even for a clean GT.
Came here to say this exactly. Corvettes notoriously depreciate and stay doing so until 40+ years later. It’s no surprise that vipers are far more rare and sought after in the long term, therefor appreciating. A clean low mileage newer Supra will be worth well over 100k in a decade or a few whereas something like a z4 won’t. “Rarity”, “cool” factor and nostalgia.
@@obomasinladen are you on about the new supra? Cuz the A80 is already 100k+ haha, and yeah, for a car to be a classic, it has to be at least one of the following; rare, beautiful or interesting, and imo the viper ticks all those boxes
The Terminator Cobra is an awesome car. They became legends on the streets, beating everything with a simple pulley and tune and then people starting figuring out how strong the Terminator was. You could push it to over 1000 HP without touching the internals and that paired with the reliable T56 made the car amazing to drive. The Terminator also became iconic for its sound. The supercharger screaming with the exhaust note of the modular 4.6 is perfection. The Cobra truly is a drivers car and it's from an era that many people are nostalgic about. There will never be another car like the Terminator. The story of how the Terminator came to be what it was is also very interesting, a lot of people like it. They only made 19,140 Terminators, a lot of those are already gone. That's why you're now seeing these cars being listed for so much, especially the really low mileage coupes. Theres a Terminator listed right now for 109K, I think some day we'll see the really clean examples going for ¼ million at auctions. The Terminator always was and will be a special car.
*Meanwhile in 2025...* "Are you the guy selling the base model 2004 Ford Focus?" "Yeah" "Are you willing to bargain?" "No. I'm keeping the price solid at $140,000."
I'm still patiently waiting for everyone to re-discover the forgotten Solstice GXP/Sky Redline. These cars have been holding steady in price. Clean ones go for around $14k
I think It's because It's considered the image of a middle aged man that has bought one In there mid life crisis lol. It's a great car though and they aren't crazy expensive. You can get a Z06 for like $25k that doesn't have a crazy amount of miles.
One of the first 300 to watch, nice. Hopefully when they discontinue the chargers the value of my Canadian Plum Crazy Daytona (only 120 in canada compared to 1200 in the USA) appreciates so I can make money off of it
My beater Dodge Ram is now worth twice what I paid for it 8 years ago. No improvements or anything. I have also put 100,000 more miles on it. I only know this because my wife told me to get a new truck and found out that it was a resounding no on price. I can get a new forged hemi and new transmission cheaper than just replacing the truck for something exactly the same. The world is crazy
I remember the mach 1 a few years ago I actually was considering buying one when I was 18. I wanna say it was the beginning of 2020 and one popped up near me with a manual and decent mileage for like $8-10,000. Also with the trans am the average cost didn't go up that much but the cost of the ls1 ones with manuals went up quite a bit more than the 90s ones with the old smallblock engine.
Yeah I've seen LS1 manual Trans-AMs and Camaros from that generation go for $25k to even over $40k and I'm just like "why?" This obviously isn't most of them but it's not exactly uncommon either. You could get a brand new Camaro SS or even used 5th gen ZL1s in that price range. It's insane!
Last year/two years ago, the 997 911 was going for mid 40k to low 50k for a nice model. Now they’re going for 70 & 80k which is absurd to me. I was looking at GT3s a few months ago, and the 997 GT3 was priced higher than a lot of 992 GT3s
@@aestheticswim3397 yeah Man my 2012 86 costed like 28k and those thing are like 35k but you could get a normal 1998 civic and tune it but yeah it will cost you some 💰
I’m so upset from this. I had the opportunity in 2020 to buy a c5 for 9k(and the leader of the Kansas corvette club/my neighbor knew the owner and said it was a good deal). But I didn’t get to it in time and now the markets fucked me over. This is a sad day.
Hey Bladed, just wanted to say that I started working on that Fan Art i talked in some videos ago, sorry for the delay but i had finals and other stuff that made it busy, but i started it right now!
I really like this and could see it being an annual thing to compare the markets throughout the year. Great idea to save all the calculation headaches for the rest of us and no longer people guesstimating how much prices changed, I could see this being a great longevity idea for this page
I actually just bought a 89 foxbody and we’ll sadly I wish I was able to buy a car 5 years ago Everyone I knew like my dad and his friends would tell me how cheap they are except for the fact they haven’t looked at the recent market they went up an extra 10 grand in value in the past five years
Honestly don't see the hellcat going up too much even when they stop getting produced. Never seen a "special edition/highest trim" sports car sell so much before in my life. In GA I literally see one almost every day. Probably will be able to get a decent premium for a manual in the future, though.
Me when I bought my 04 GTO for 8k. " Man this is a good car....I want to buy an 06 later on." Now that GTO's prices are going for almost 15-25k. "NO.....Monica"
Comparing Terminator Cobra prices from early 2020 to now makes me sick. Edit: I'm actually surprised to see you mentioned the Terminator Cobra as the 2nd spot 😂. Wasn't expecting to actually see the Terminator make the list but yeah the prices of Terminators have gone insane.
I love the fact that you mention the young generations that want to be car guys in 10 years, and you acutualy care about them🔥. I have much more to learn from you 👍🏼❤️
All I want is a rust free mid size toyota/nissan truck... I swear everytime I put another 'x' amount towards savings the car prices also increase that same amount
Yep. Just like how insurance is going up and anything right now is going up in prices. Like they want 900 dollars a month for a tiny ass apartment room. 🤦♀️
I know the 2017 comparison is because thats when you last ran the numbers. But most of these increases are because of the past single year of CPI inflation that put the used car market at a staggering 37% increase year over year (new cars increased 11% btw) So the silver lining is quite a few of these cars actually have increased a lot less than the average. Especially considering that 37% is only one year and used car inflation since 2017 is close to 50% cumulative. Yes I am an economics nerd.
Dude its getting crazy down south too like obs chevrolet trucks and suvs are everywhere yet ppl wanna sell them for close to 15k when they're worth not even half of that. At least from what I've seen. One guy asked to buy my truck for 5 like if u saw this thing it be better off working at the junkyard.
As an owner of a gt350 who absolutely loves the car, I wouldn't bother with the r unless you plan to track it. What you lose vs gain for an extra $30k+ isn't worth it to me. Especially considering you can pick up the aero pieces for a couple grand and rims for $10-15K depending when you are looking. Now obviously there are other slight differences and if those things matter or just the idea of having the r matters or I guess potential appreciation, more power to you. I just would wait for them to all go up in price hoping to finally be able to get an r when the non r is still an absolute blast to drive.
I see why Bladed likes the C7 Z06 now. Recently saw one at a car show in New Zealand, and damn, they are awesome cars. The low slung body is just 👌. The way it flows together but remains aggressive is so cool. They pretty wide though, don't need a wide-body at all.
Carlos was an easy pinkslip race for me, it was Jack (and Melody) who always screwed me over, made worse because he had a very finite amount of respect in a playthrough, so any damage done was a major negative... XD
C5 corvette prices makin me wanna grow my gray hairs. Im saving up till May, i may be a pensioner by summer. Also: Cadillac CTS-V prices are making me cry rn
Hey, can you do a video on which cars that either have done well, and arent outrageous, or what are good buys? I have been looking at the 300ZX lately and it seems kinda expensive
A trend I have noticed with corvettes right now is 3 generations back from current is the generation that will be rock bottom. C4s hit rock bottom with the C7, C3s hit rock bottom with the C6 (prices on C3s are starting to climb especially on early models), and now the C5 is going to hit rock bottom with the C8
Man I did some calculations and apparantly 2nd gen Ford Probes with 2.5l i V6 are 74.1% cheaper. Cool car with low price. Ive planned to buy one as my first car bc you know popups and v6 engines aint really popular in my neighbour hood
You're probably going to do European next but I got some examples that you might want to test out and see what the prices might be if you do have the 2017 listings, if you have to listings for the E46 M3 then maybe try check it out because I don't know if it's gone up her down in price that much.
Just you wait, You have a C7 right? Those things are going to do the exact same thing as the Vipers. Expectedly more mild though. The C7 was the last legitimate Corvette, and their gonna skyrocket too because of that. Edit: That works too.
As a Viper fanboy you don't understand the pure hatred I have burning in the pits of my blackened heart for this idiots who are inflating Viper prices especially considering that people didn't buy them when they were new but now they're buying them up smh damn I'm mad now
I'm not sure if this is a problem just in area or anywhere else. But they are some people who are so stubborn on trying to buy my car on the spot with cash when it not for sale, saying " let to that car off your hands and real car enthusiast drive it" or something of similar.
What I think sucks is the price of even Malaise era American cars. I’d love to get a ‘79 Thunderbird, but the prices have shot up about another $3,500 depending on the trim. Getting a Heritage Edition under $10,000 now is unlikely.
Crown Victorias appreciated so fucking much after ford released the new explorer police package, hell all panther platform cars, Mercury Grand Marquis and Marauders, as well as Lincoln Towncars went up in value a bit as well (Marauders especially those were a sick sleeper) crown vics were worth fucking nothing a few years ago the most expensive ones were like $1,000 and now you can't find a driveable example at all for under $3,500.
Can you make a top 10 awd video I’m really undecided about a 2015 wrx and a Chrysler 300 c Awd but there doesn’t seem to be a lot of awd on the market also I think I saw you otw back from atl one day did it snow the 29th
my stupid dream car, a 2017 viper acr gts-r commemorative edition, nobody has put any miles on them and I know its a rare spec but 300 to 450k, for a viper?! nuts, anyways great vid blade
As the owner of a c5 that I got got 15k with 75k miles, can confirm that people are still sleeping on these. They have gone up a little over the past few years but not nearly as much as anything jdm.
Found a 2000 Camaro SS with 35k miles near me. Looks very well maintained for $21k. Not bad at all. I honestly thought they went up In price. Corolla and Civics have gone up In process more than the older cars have.
Me in South America: you guys get cool cars? Jk, but still, some of the few cool cars that I see in my country's Ebay equivalent (Argentina btw) are absurdly expensive compared to the stuff I see from the US.
@@imnotusingmyrealname4566 pre-covid, one could buy a decent working car with less than $1000 dollars (of course, old cars, but cars that still are running and working relatively well)
Hey Bladed, so call me stupid, but what actually made the Dodge Viper a dangerous car to daily drive? I mean I've seen all the jokes about it, but is there like an actual reason for it? Like does the car break down randomly easily, does it lack safety, etc.
it’s not a safe car to drive, the main reason it was discontinued was because of lack of saftey features. It also declined in sales because it wasn’t built for the mass public.
