Seeing how much power can be unleashed from some 50cc clamshell saws. Then to see if one is the clear leader in performance. These 50cc homeowner type saw have a place, and a much cheaper price point than the pro grade 50cc saws. Not everyone needs a high end pro saw.

The first saw I ported was an ms271. I was really surprised at how well it responded…your dyno run shows there is potential.

Hello thank you a interesting video. Just wish to give a shout out to my made in Sweden 2008 husqvarna 450. She has eaten many of saw over ther years and bars and chains. Still going strong. I have grown up now and run a 550 mark ll to and a 372 for work saws, but the 450 still gets a run. Keep her starp, good oil and they keep running fine.

That graph for the homelite can't get no better damn what a solid running saw. Decent horsepower with mad torque to pull through the wood. 👍

That ported ms271 chainsaw is pumping out some power for a 50cc homeowner chainsaw. When you get the performance similar of a ms362 chainsaw, that is impressive from a ms271. I own a stock ms271 chainsaw and a dual exhaust ms362, there is quite a difference in cutting speed, but the ms271 is a strong reliable saw.

I wonder how much of the 450 gains were due to the muffler mod. I did a muffler mod to mine and it made a noticeable difference with throttle response and speed in the cut.

I don't like any of the flippy caps. The early Stihls were a pain. I'm super stoked - I picked up a teal blue Makita 6100 at a yard sale this weekend. It's just the power head and appears to be new in the box. The box looks like it was dragged behind a truck but the saw is perfect. Not sure what I have. Paid $225 for it. I won't get to mess with it until later this week. It appears to be complete. Has a chain - no bar. Happy 4th.

I've been thinking about a 271, but the 291 has entered the discussion too. I'm gonna stick with Stihl because of local support. I can't swing a stick without hitting a Stihl dealer where I live. It seems to me the 291 is the same as the 271 but with a few more CCs and a little more HP.

A bearing pocket mod would seem like reinventing the wheel on a 50cc. But content on the machine work involved a large clamshell saw would be interesting.

The 450 Rancher has been out for a few years now. I wonder if husky would do it differently if the were designing today. They did make the 465 Rancher which was autotune but didn't seem to be that popular, maybe cost was a factor. I have the 460 which is an okay landowner saw, but i think I'll have a bit of a tinker with it and see what i can get out of it.

I would like to see some Dyno tests on 562xp vs 560xp setup, 3/8 vs .325 if possible. Since 550mkii with 3/8 had perhaps 0.7 hp more then .325 if i remember the test correct. It says both has 3.5kw(4.7hp) on sales spec but perhaps there are ways to improve them without changing anything on the engine itself since some prefere to make them stronger without affecting there lifetime or possibility for free repair from where they bought the saw if it has damage first years.
@dynojoemods2764
@dynojoemods2764 Год назад
I hope to have a 562/60cc video up sometime. Chain size wont matter, as it dosent change the amount of power the engine makes. But will effect how much power is used. The 3/8 Chain will use more power to spin.

How did you decide how far to notch back the lower transfers? It looks like it may have added a lot of volume to the crankcase. I also wonder if the longer lowers allowed the flow to attach to the transfer tunnels earlier on, like a velocity stack, and that effect may have been lost in forming that big wall.

I’d guess the ms 382 will have substantially more torque since it’s based off the 038 super at 72 cc but cutting smaller wood the 365 may have more speed and will be lighter.
