Unfortunately Nandos ads require context ... they are normally a reaction to current affairs happening in south Africa which makes them funny in a shady way. 1 thing about south africans, we find humor in everything which is what connects us as a country during good or bad times

Fun fact the go back to where you came from is my personal favourite. At the time there were some south Africans who were violent towards other African nationals and basically saying they should go back to their counties. The ad was basically saying only the Khoisan are natives to south Africa and Real south Africans love diversity therefore they shouldnt discriminated against fellow Africans just bcoz they arrived later then everyone else. And yes we definitely did buy the chicken afterwards!!!

🤣 🤣 🤣 Yip, this was on our TV and we laughed about it. South Africans aren't very sensitive and we can see the humor in everything. Also, Nando's is known for stepping on toes. My coloured behind would've poofed little by little..

The foreigners ad was actually funny. I don't think anyone should have taken offense with that one. It was just depicting that as much as we are a rainbow nation in SA. The only true nationals of our country are the khoisan people( that was the last guy standing in the ad) but they only make up 1% of our country's population.

The second ad was about the last dictator standing, Gadafi, Husain, Idi and Botha and the the guy sitting alone was meant to be Robert Mugabe

Also, there were controversies about how our ministers use "blue light" vehicles unnecessarily to get to their destinations and how reckless their driving is, so the second ad was making fun of that, but they also show that taxi drivers will remain undefeated as the worst drivers on our roads.

The first advert is a Diss to ABSA's (a bank) "Africanicity" advert which was basically a "mad max in Africa" kinda vibe, check it out its actually a very beautiful piece of art The second is a dig at how South African ministers and other dignitaries tend to have convoys of escort cars driving and break neck speeds generally ignoring all road laws The third past African dictators having a grand old time, but they kept "dying off" and now there was 1 left, eating alone The 4th one is rather self exolanatory

Nando’s has been pushing the boundaries with their ads for years, they have become known for it, often their ads are banned but they always have a new one ready to go just in case someone (boring person) objects. Nando’s not scared to make fun of our cultural differences and sensitivities, or point out how out of control our government ministers are (we get to laugh at ourselves). South Africans love them for this, and their chicken is fantastic. They have become an international brand.

The one with the breats was introducing a new "double-breasted" burger, hence the big-breasted woman. The one with the lonely leader eating at the table was making fun of Robert Mugabe being the last dictator remaining. If you look at his other friends, they resembled dictators who had passed away. So, the leader was feeling lonely being the last remaining dictator, kinda the last remaining one.

The other one about ministers tightening their belts & moving to humble homes it's actually Nando's shading ministers for doing the opposite Politicians are misusing funds that are posed to be helping the poor = things were not gonna be that bad if they only bought Nando's because it's affordable. Yeah finally! Nandos adds are the doopest ever and most controversial. They are always dissing someone. They are so hillarious. The one where they are telling people to go back home is because the original people of South Africa are the Bushmen or Khoisans , the man you saw at the end. I must agree that the advert may come across as offensive especially if you are outside SA or you have never lived in SA or you are foreign . It can easily be taken out of context given our history with xenophobia. I know they meant well but for me personally, the timing was wrong because it can easily raffle some furthers However, I do get it. All other South African tribes ie Vendas, Zulus, Sothos etc were also mentioned that we must go back home because the Khoisans are the only original people of SA . It has been said that we (blacks) are Bantu people who originated from somewhere in West Africa, I am yet to research this though. I hope this makes sense.

The Khoi and San (two separate groups and/or tribes) was first here we agree. However when the Colonizers went to the Zuurveld (present day Eastern Cape) they found the Xhosa living side by side with the Khoi! www.sahistory.org.za/article/eastern-cape-wars-dispossession-1779-1878 I'm Colored (Khoi descendant) that find it strange to argue that we were here alone when the Colonizers landed here. The Bantu peoples have been here 2 millenia before Christ was born. The Bantu tribes don't have to feel sorry to be be called real South Africans alongside the Khoi and the San.

I love that you said the first ad screams welcome to the future. Because I'm not sure many people realize it but africa is the future. Lots of black people in the diaspora are going back to secure their spot in that future and don't be surprised if in 20-30 years africa becomes the continent to be at. Yall will probably be looking for real estate on the continent by then to retire lol. I'm jamaican and I can't wait to start building in Ghana and catch my slice of the future

Ntandos ads are sarcastic ads about socio political events happening at that time as in currently . They make more sense if you understand what's happening currently. For instance they displayed leaders who were perceived as dictators by the mainstream media like Robert Mugabe and Muammar Gaddafi as lonely

With Nandos you always need context otherwise things get dicey LOL. The ‘sad old men eating alone’ are supposed to be African dictators i.e. Mugabe and Gaddafi… so pretty much imagine the same ad with Putin and Kim Jong Un and you’ll get the sting. The diversity one… it’s says South Africans should stop being xenophobic and saying others are foreigners when we all came from elsewhere. So same, imagine this in America where the last man is a native American. Love your honest reactions…

Homo sapiens migrated from East Africa millennia ago. Khoe-san is a way of life description: African hunter-gatherers & pastoralists. In genetics, the L0d mitochondrial haplogroup is found almost exclusively in descendant populations only. (Alternatively, it's a linguistic abstract classification, now largely moribund "Latin".) SA native modern evolved cultures (Xhosa, Tswana, Sotho, Zulu, etc) are their descendants with millennia old heritage & all have significant L0d markers. Hunter-gatherer, pastoralist & agro-pastoralist blended to form the SA extant native cultures long before the arrival of Europeans, who found that millennia-old lineage here. To fall for the propaganda about natives having equivalency with Europeans or recent immigrants is pretty daft & gullible.
