As an American, I found it odd that Thomas never revisited American during the entirety of BWBA. If he did, then I would have loved him to reunite with Hank.
I love it when they introduce American designed engines and vehicles in the Thomas universe!!! However, I think some of the voices should’ve been exclusive to the UK 🇬🇧 dub such as Timothy’s, Marion’s, and Philip’s.
I have a headcanon that Timothy, Marion, and Philip were built in Crovan's Gate Works Also, I don't like Connor and Caitlyn being American engines with Irish accents, it just feels wrong
There’s a theory that Connor and Catalan were built with a lot of Irish immigrants in the shops and that’s how they got their accents. I actually really like this because a lot of Americans were and still are Irish with or without the accent.
Stanley (RWS) was shipped to be built on sodor in the great war, his parts came from Pennsylvania, and as for Vinnie, he is Actually a mix of American and Canadian
They should've just gotten me to voice Philip in the US dub tbh. Loved this new style of video bro, and it'd be cool to see more of it! Happy fourth Samster, and take care.
That is an interesting video regarding the American-built engines in Thomas (especially for 4th of July). The fact that a few ones had English accents rather than American accents always boggled me when watching both dubs of the show (weird how some of the main cast in the US dub have American accents, while the American characters have British accents as the same as was in the UK dub, same goes for other characters who have the same voice in both dubs). Even the Class 08 diesels in the Great Race spoke w/ US voices in both dubs despite being British built. I may think possibly they did that for these new characters from that country was through the production team looking through the real basis of the specific one and then picked it randomly (while not giving them the specific dialect from their backstory). In my headcanon, I tend to have Philip and Marion being built on Sodor instead of America hence the British accents. Vinnie is an okay pile, but it annoys me how he's dubbed as all American despite being a Canadian design. Carlos is from Mexico and that country is part of North America. Would've been cool to have two separate engines to represent Canada and the US: One a Canadian Pacific 'Royal Hudson' class (I would've given the name of specific character as 'Roy', short for 'Royal) and the other either Connor, Caitlin, Beau or even Hank (a missed opportunity to bring him back in TGR).
Honestly my favorite American engine in Thomas is Sam. I’m a big fan are Articulated Steam locomotives, especially ones that originate in the Appalachia coal fields, so Sam really hits close to home for me
@TrainsRKool1999 I have strong bias for Sam just for the mere fact that he's American and shares the name with me. As well as being the largest engine in the series.

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY GRAAAAAAAAAH 🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅 Also very interesting essay style video this time around! It was cool to hear your take on why designs don't align with accents for the CGI series. I think I share most of your take on the matter.
@ThatOneOSCGuy Well maybe not a common thing but if you guys would like to see more of these kinds of essay videos, I could try. But I'm not necessarily good at writing things like this.
TbH I not a fan of most US locomotive in the show. All of them feel they don't feel right running around on. It probably helps if they pick bases that can fit on the UK loading Guage.
I kinda find it weird how Rosie had an American accent in seasons 13-16 in the US dub, then in season 21 onwards in the same dub, she gained a UK accent. PICK A LANE ROSIE!!!
@ljandthomas I mean I like Mavis but I honestly just have an easier time writing for other characters in my series. The most that I can really do is acknowledge her in some kind of way.
