I think it is not until they are retired that people will start to truly appreciate what they did for the sport. Excellent players, but hands down for me Messi is simple amazing.
Also neither would have been that great if it wasn't for the other. Two absolute masters constantly competing with one another and getting better and better in the process. One day they should thank eachother.
Ronaldo is a training machine, Remember where Messi started, Where Ronaldo started. These are 2 legends, but Ronaldo is the man who made you fall in love with this sport!)
One of the reasons these attacking plays are so impressive is because of how Ronaldo (and other successful strikers) handle the 'offside rule'. This rule states that the furthest player(s) back in defense creates an invisible horizontal 'line' that attackers cannot pass unless: 1) A teammate kicks the ball your way, 2) You are already in possession of the ball, or 3) You steal the ball from a defender. For example, if a teammate passes you the ball while you are too far ahead of the defense, then you are considered 'offside', which awards the opposing team a free kick. Without this rule the players could technically go anywhere at any time. With it you have to be strategic. That's why you often see professional defenders forming a straight 'line' to take advantage of the rule, potentially catching attackers offside. As an attacker you have to time your runs so that you are behind the defense as your teammate releases the ball, and run past the offside line at the right time when it's legal. You'll see what I mean when you watch professional games / play FIFA XD.
Good effort trying to explain the offside rule but a couple huge mistakes: "player(s) back? so 9 defenders back would create a line? and a fail in your 1st exception (thats precisely the point of the offside rule that you don't receive a pass while being offside) Important exceptions you didnt mention: you cant be offside on your own half and you cant be offside when receiving a throw in Short version of the rule: A player is in an offside position if he is nearer to the opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent.
Both Messi and Ronaldo were the best players in the world. Messi is pure talent, his hability and skills are natural, he has to work his fitness, but his hability is pure instinct. Ronaldo is a work horse, he works countless hours to develop and learn a new skill. To me we wouldn't have Messi becoming as great as he is if we didn't had Ronaldo, and works the other way around, Ronaldo wouldn't be as good as he is if he hadn't Messi. To me they are, and will be the best players in the world. One has something he is better at, and the other has his strengths. And I'm portuguese...
U have to count the trainer, both of them are prodigies but messi was trained by ronaldinho while ronaldo was trained by less profesional players, thats why messi performed quicker
@@insanedmgofficial That Sir Alex Ferguson squad of players were absolutely not less professional than Ronaldinho, as much as I love Ronaldinho. Sorry, but that's an odd take.
@@Vincent.Wilson i agree, never said otherwise, but i was strictly about messi and ronaldo debate,i am a messi fan but i take the side of ronaldo as he wasnt with so many good players such as ronaldinho
@@Vincent.Wilson Messi started on an already amazing Barcelona (with or without him), became a financial parasite to the team then moved to the most expensive team to ever exist. Ronaldo came up through Sporting Lisbon and had to prove himself in order to make it to a better team (ManU), peaked at Real Madrid, had an amazing season at Juve (When he was thirty fucking five), then became a financial parasite to ManU. Ronaldo will always be Mr. Champions League, and Messi will always be known as one of the best club players to exist. Both of them sucked internationally, even Messi's WC win doesn't really change the debate that much.
To understand the beauty behind these players, you have to watch an average full match, and get a sense of the average game. Only then will you realize how different, unique, and unusual these players are compared to other players. Directly watching the highlights of these players without knowing how the average game plays will actually desensitize you to their beauty. These players literally used to carry their whole team (Messi and Ronaldo).
The more you learn about the game, the more impressive he is. Some of the stuff he does is mesmerizing and you don't realize how amazing it is, so I cant wait for you to realize his greatness
I hope when you finally understand the sport you go back to the Messi and Ronaldo videos with a different perspective. Understanding the sport is not difficult, it’s a beautiful game with so much passion and history. Looking forward to your next video as you embrace on this journey of exploring the world biggest sport.
Your principal is sort of right, CTE being talked about in soccer is still in the early stages but it's gaining momentum. In some countries they've banned heading for youth players or changed some rules like no throw-ins to reduce the amount of headers. There's not much action for the senior teams though, you still see players going in a fencing position getting checked by doctors and then play on. There has been talk about allowing an extra concussion sub but people feel like teams would exploit that to get an extra sub by deliberately causing small head collisions.
The people crying about messi and ronaldo wont even know the names of the starting 11 in their teams right now. just ignore them, they're just fans of the players not football. They are both amazing in their own way and have been the best in the world multiple times in their careers. Lets just appreciate how amazing they both are, in the next 5 years you wont see them playing anymore.
They've gone head to head MANY times, the last section of this video, the 'El Clasico dribbling, passing, goals' part was him vs Barcelona(team which Messi played for for 17 years, is now at Paris Saint-Germain) they went head to head a few times while Ronaldo was at Manchester United, and after going to Real Madrid(El Clasico is any match between Real Madrid & Barcelona)they went head to head every season at least twice. Now, Ronaldo's back at Manchester United, I do hope we get to see them go up against each other at least one more time, or maybe see them play together for at least a season)
his freestyling made it so if you locked in on the ball and didn't try to predict, you'd have no chance to react when he made his next move. A nightmare for defenders, but a different kind than Messy. His shot was outrageously powerful and long distance shots had his own unique "double curve" (knuckleball). He jumped too much, ran to fast and was too athletic. His precision and sustained performance over 20 years are products of his obsessive training and preparation, absolute perfectionist. His signature skills... we saw him develop them over the years, test, improve, or discard depending on how efficient they were. He seems smug to many, but this confidence he projects has lifted his teams, especially as an older player with new talent on the team. It's his public persona, but personally, he seems as very much of an introvert when he's not in his game mode unlike say.. Zlatan.
Neither Ronaldo or Messi are the best of this era. The real answer is they both are the best . They both have done so much for the sport and they should both be recognized as being in the only Era where we was able to witness 2 greats instead of just one like every other Era. They do have different styles. Messi is more control no one has the ball control messi he can pass through multiple players .Ronaldo just makes them dance in a square he is a more complete player which makes this video about doing and showing everything much easier with Ronaldo then Messi. Both. they are both The Goats if that's what yall want to call them. They are both the best. If I had a team they would both be called and they would both play cause they play different styles and positions
1:24 185 cm / 6 ft 1. Taller than average but there are many players taller than him. He can, however, win balls higher than any other player because his jumping ability is just out of the charts. That's why he's able to score so many headers.
El clasico is the match up between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. it's such an important match because they are the best 2 clubs in Spain and for a time they were the 2 best clubs in the world. Ronaldo is an icon for Madrid and Messi is the icon for Barcelona which is also why it was so big because you had the best 2 players in the world fighting each other in a matchup against the best 2 clubs in the world
I am a Real Madrid supporter, Cristiano is one the best player EVER to wear Real Madrid's TEE and that It is so much, really Real Madrid is the most sucesfull Club football history. He is a really physical portent, he has an incredible Shot but always has a problem of selfish with the ball. Even with that He is incredible player that is, in the TOP 10 of the BEST PLAYERS EVER. His rivaltry with Messi has been always increased because He has been playing for Real Madrid and Messi for Barça and these two clubs has one of the longest and more intenses Rivaltry in Sport History
People says that messi is better but trust me he is world class player but ronaldo is something next level and he is definitely the greatest of all time CR7❤
With time you get enough experience to not having to look at the ball as much as at start, it just grows onto you so at Ronaldos point he knows where the ball is just by his touches that he did and the strength he put into the ball, you dont have to look at it at that point that much so it gives you more time to scope the field and others
6:13 Both Messi and Ronaldo have been playing professionally for over 15 years know while also being at the absolut top. No other players have been that consistent over more than a decade like those two. They are different and still playing at different clubs. Messi at Paris-Saint Germain and Ronaldo at Manchester United. They will also be playing their last world cup in a cupple of weeks and likely retire from professional football in 2 or 3 years being 35(Messi) and 37(Ronaldo) years old (most players would already have retired at that age so we football fans are really lucky to still be able to see them play). You should also definetly check out the "Art of passing" and "Messi- The art of passing" (Two different videos) since you seem to like that part of the game :D Also If you specifically like a part of the game there are likely some highlights videos out there so you can simply ask the audience for some recommendation videos. For example: "Defence is Art" "Impossible goalkeepers saves" "Legendary Longshot goals" "A guide for americans to understand football xD" Etc. (Sry for my bad english)
The big difference between the two and for me is what proves that Ronaldo is the best, is that Ronaldo played for several teams and in all of them, he made history and won trophies. Everything Messi has was at Barcelona, where he played almost his entire life. At PSG, he did very little.
There is a video on youtube where Ronaldo was tested at a facility its like 45 min with like 22M views. His physical ability is insane. You can find it if you just look for "Cristiano Ronaldo lab" on youtube
YESSS I like this kind of reaction, not too much talking and actually give attention to the video. Idea for next video : react to "Kevin DeBruyne : When Football Becomes Art" probably the best player right now, famous for his passing skill and outside of the box goals. new sub.
The difference between their ball handling skills is that Ronaldo throws his legs over the ball and jumps over it in one position as if he's saying please allow me a space... While Messi controls the ball with superb balance between defenders.
The thing that is impressive in this and Messi’s videos is that they dribble past defenders and not just 1 defender, but 2,3,4 which is crazy. In football if an average professional footballer tries to dribble past a defender of the same level they would lose the ball 80% of the time.
There is video made by legsus which is 30 min long but it shows how good of a passer Ronaldo is. Ronaldo has a wide variety of passes which messi doesn't possess but that doesn't mean messi is a bad passer. Messi one of the best passers of ball in football ever but doesn't have the variety possessed by Ronaldo.
majority of the time, the very BEST players don't need to look up for the goal because they know where it is at the time of shooting and if we're talking about each ability? Both in their primes? Ronaldo - Speed, Strength, Long shots, free kicks, heading, free-styling Messi - dribbling, shooting, chips, passing, penalties, IQ, can win a game by himself. As i've got older i've learnt to just enjoy the both of them and call them both the GOATS... enjoy them while they're here guys... they won't be here forever. As of their longevity, Ronaldo started in 2003 and is still playing to this day, his prime was around 09-2018 Messi started in 2003 and is still playing now and his prime was probably around the same time, if not longer 04-2021 They have both dominated the sport for 2 decades , both of them winning the player of the year award every year for 20 years.
Messi is "the artist" and mostly a natural talent, he also is a game maker with a great vision of the game on the pitch who dribbles and sort of avoids physical contact. Ronaldo is a totally different player, he is "the athlete", a very developed product of his well known discipline and physical condition, his position is more of a pure striker, usually receives the assistance from his team's game makers. Both great, both different.
He fully adopted the striker role only after being 30. Before that he was THE inverted left winger. To me, Messi and CR7 are the top 2 best ever, which one is nº 1 is entirely to personal preference of each one of us. There's virtually no reason to compare them, they are very different in every aspect of the game.
When you dribble with the ball you should not look at it. Most of the time when you dribble your head should be up so you know where your teammates are and to look at your opponents feet so you can go past him. This is tricky sometimes because you need to rely on your instincts and coordination to play with the ball without looking at it most of the time. And they are not going to remove headers from the professional men's football only for the little kids like under 10 or something
both played for the best teams in spain, rival teams by the way, and at the time the best in the world, being the winners of the best player of the year award for 11 consecutive years
Yes, Ronaldo is the ultimate athlete. He is better than Messi at everything else, except playing football. Running, jumping, diving - you name it, he can do it. He could probably compete for gold at the Olympics , in any of those disciplines.
You are actually misunderstanding about the passing, messi is in fact the best passer, and even if some people argue about who is the best player everybody would agree that messi is the best at passing. Simply search for a video about messi's passes and you will realize that.
Watching these highlight videos also makes people think Ronaldo is good at dribbling. When it comes to dribbling, he may not even be in the top 10. He got a bag full of tricks but he does so many moves without getting past one defender. It's hilarious. He realized that and changed his game, that's when he became great.
@@TienNguyen-dg4fe yeah a lot of videos were manchester ronaldo, when he was the young incredibly talented winger but still a bit immature. The polished efficient real madrid ronaldo is the scariest one
Messi has the best ball control. Best passing is modric no doubt. But I get what you saying he a good passer for sure but the best passer is Luka modric the passes he do are in a league or their own .
Please react to "Ronaldinho footballs greatest entertainment" it's a must watch if you want to watch some football. The player who Messi and Ronaldo fans adore
CR7 can pass, assist, finish goals, headers, free kicks, penalties, dribbling, sprint speed, help in defence with his physicality, he can adapt to every team he plays in (as he has proven time and time again) + he played like a midfielder, winger, striker, second striker and was world class in all positions..... so there is a strong case he is GOAT + as COMPLETE as it gets.... also his logevity 20years at the highest level ❤❤❤❤❤
Ronaldo: 817 goals and 233 assists in 1,136 appearances Messi: 784 goals and 343 assists in 992 appearances Hat-tricks: Ronaldo 60; Messi 56Career goal ratio: Ronaldo 0.72; Messi 0.79. They are both great.
,,and don`t forget to check up the awesome Brazilian player who used to play in Barcelona,, Ronaldinho.. Nr1 of his time!! He got to play with the young Messi for a season or two.. His skills and talent was something else.. :D
u have to understand, there is no better or not better, there is the great luck we have the privilege to see the 3 best footballplayers ever walked the earth withing our lifetime, messi =best intuitive player, ronaldo best technical player, and ronaldinho the overall best player ever
You need to see Ronaldinho, Brazil's talent is amazing, so many from my country, Ronaldinho (R10), Pelé, Neymar, Ronaldo Phenomenon (R9), are just a few of them. Brazil have 5 Fifa world cup titles, more than everyone.
The nutmeg is in fact kicking the ball in between someone’s legs. This is one of the most disrespectful things you can do to someone in a game. The nutmeg is the ultimate form of humiliation in football
Knuckleball is when the ball changes direction mid way just(he puts rotation in , just like in the NBA).He hits it that way intentinally to fool the keeper.
Ronaldo started playing for big teams at a very young age.. Like Man united signed him when he was only 18years old And Messi joined Barcelona at the age of 13yrs old but only made his competitive debut at the age of 17yrs
“i don’t know any of the historical moments with messi” him watching video about the whole career of messi until he moved to psg and says it’s not historical
One player who you need to watch is Ronaldo Nazario. The original Ronaldo, El Phenomeno. Whatever you want to call him. He was also one of the best to ever play, and would likely have been unanimous #1 if injuries didn't hamper his career
Since you’re an American football coach and you have tactics etc… you HAVE to watch a compilation of pep guardiola’s tiki taka with FC Barcelona. It’s the most satisfying thing you’ll ever see. They basically just pass it around the defenders in such a way the opponents are clueless.
IMO Messi is great and gifted. You can love Messi all you want but if you are not gifted then you must follow CR7 for inspiration, dedication and hard work.
The best player is probably Manuel Neuer… Germany/Bayern goal keeper… INSANE shot stopper, that likes to have the ball at his feet… he has a CRAZY chop, and launches the ball 70m and hits a hoolahoop, with either foot, and if he ends up in the opponents box for a corner kick, you put your tallest 2 guys on him and pray…
The thing about isolating the conversation to those two, is that people come to believe that whomever is second becomes an afterthought as a result. As much as I believe that Messi is the player with the most impact and virtue of the two, Ronaldo is historically elite, and there are not 10 players in the history of the game that are at his level. Ronaldo's longevity and ability to evolve his game are incredible and rare qualities.
A knuckleball shot = a shot with zero spin on the ball, giving it an unpredictable trajectory. It seems the ball is wobbling through the air. It’s insanely difficult to pull off consistently.
For me Ronaldo and Messi are the greatest players who ever lived and we are all just lucky to be alive to watch one the fact that the both of them are playing at the same time is just a gift.
Messi: Short, lower center of gravity, can squeeze between a bunch of defenders and has a great left foot. Ronaldo: Has everything else and still can pass through a bunch of defenders (in speed and physique) and mastered he's weaker foot, the left. Messi is not as strong with headers, body strength, speed. Messi was born with the amazing talent he has, it's natural to him and we're so lucky to see him play. Ronaldo is the product of a kid that dreamt of being the best in the world and never once stopped working for what he believes in. You'll have a bunch of fanboys fight for one or another but the world is lucky to have seen them both pushing each other to their limits. Both, to me, the best in the history of football, EVER, PERIOD. Ronaldo is (personally) a step above because he's trade is all he ever lived for. The constant progress. Half of the world hates him because of his extreme confidence in himself without understanding that that confidence is what makes himself challenge himself everyday into being better than before and for all he did and for all he is, Ronaldo is an example of hardwork to achieve your dreams, to me. It will end for both of them eventually and it will be a sad sad day. Unless they end up, at last, playing in the same team (maybe MLS) and that will be the perfect ending to the most amazing duo in football history.
When someone master in something it is called talent. Messi don't gym but he is always juggling , handling ball in training. Ronaldo wants to be fit but Messi wants to master his skills. You are saying that Messi is not strong , what?? Having six packs abs and good physique don't mean one is strong. Messi also has good physique. Are you were a person who put skills in him when he was in belly. How do you know he was born with dribbling skills. Messi has been playing football since he was 4. When he was recognized he already master in dribbling. So you see it as a talent. You will not see the hardwork behind his success.
@@surya.6907 Messi had to take growth hormones, Ronaldo had a heart surgery but you cant deny the fact that no other footballer trains as hard as Ronaldo does, his discipline is godlike and he wants to be the best in everything, a goal not many even dare to dream.
Messis style is very textbook a genius with great vision. But ronaldo he’s what you would call a joga bonito a very flashy player that became a huge influence in the game, the likes of American football players wearing his cleats and doing his celebrations even in tennis and the ufc. He’s a player that can play at his best even in a bad team and for a playmaker like messi that’s a lot more difficult.
