Evette is a beautiful doll. Many collectors has complaints over her wig, but I’ve never had any problems, just keep the brush away , and your ok. Congrats

I'm a "contrarian" like that as well. It's not cool to me if everyone else thinks it's cool. 😉 I have always loved specifically the really tiny poly pocket sets, so it was fun when you mentioned Poly Pocket. ...and I actually love Evette's meet dress. As a doll-lover who also has doll-loving sons, I really appreciate your videos.
I wish someone would make an AG collection app... like at least the historical dolls uploaded and their collections and you could add them to "your collection"... see what you have and what you need to get. I have an app for my crystal and rock collection and it's so nice for me to keep with me on my phone when I'm looking for new pieces. It's easy to just type in the name of the rock or crystal to see if I have it or its properties. You can even have a "wish list" and they have collector lists to help you if you don't have an idea of what to collect next. I keep wishing there was an app for AG... at the very least for the historical girls. Like Wiki is nice, but... ya know.
I am actually working on something like this! I just finished Samantha's, and I'm hoping to do it for the original 6 PC historical dolls. I made my own so that I could keep track of all of the stuff I've been buying, and I'm adapting them so they can be used by other people!

I got 121, 123, 124 and then 103 and wellie wisher Willa during the sale. Still waiting for 103 and Willa to arrive - they are currently somewhere in New Mexico. I also bought a second Evette I plan to customize and I might get a Corinne to customize as well. I really want to add 76 to my boy collection and I’m sad they retired him. I do have 75, 77 and 113. Your collection is so impressive.
Evette is definitely one of the most beautiful dolls ever made! I bought her too during the sale, my second Evette actually. I thought I would customize one of them, but was so surprised how different they look, I don’t understand why and how, but their faces are different. My original is chubby and has different face expression she is more childlike, the new one looks more “grown up”, but they both stunning and will be staying in my collection as sisters (:

Question: why don’t you collect Josefina if she’s one of the oldest dolls that were released along with Addy and Felicity? Esp if you say you love her face mold? I’m a new viewer so I’m not sure if you’ve answered that before!
I actually do! I have her and a small collection of outfits. I grew out of dolls around 1994, so she wasn't part of my original collection goals of childhood-era dolls. I got her last year I think. A lot of my collection is still in boxes from moving a few months ago, so she hasn't made an appearance yet!

I'm so happy you're getting the boys! I would've gone more buckwild during the holiday sale but there wasn't as much for the boys. What's great about them too is that I've combed the archives and there's only a handful of boy/gender neutral sets meaning that you have to go the handmade route for lots of their clothes which is a ton of fun (and a lot cheaper). And the stuff that isn't marketed as boy stuff, you have to be creative with. For instance, Julie's original basketball shoes (the fake Adidas) are fantastic for the boys; Molly's PJs work great; Maritza's jacket is SO CUTE for Spring; half of Courtney's collection (even the cardigan) looks great on them; etc. I think you'll have a lot of fun projecting yourself onto them. I know I do.
I'm feeling you with the Barbie stuff too. It breaks my heart to think of all of the dolls that are being bought as a fad and will probably end up in the trash. 😭 I managed to get a vintage Ken over the holidays so they are still affordable. Just wait for it to blow over a bit. And Polly is so much fun! I got to have one as a kid too. Polly is a whole ass rabbit hole though. Very expensive and very difficult to find overall, but you have the right mindset for it based on how you collect AG.
Evette is probably the pride and joy of my collection simply because of she looks. On top of somewhat resembling a character from a published fiction I wrote a while back (I promise that was not a self-plug), she also gives me heavy Beyonce Vibes with her hair. It so fluffy
I'm finally getting a chance to catch up on your videos! I've been moving and everything has just been all up in the air- I'm still unpacking and trying to find space for everything- all my dolls are still at my parents house and I miss them! I love Evette so much- I need to get her. I also really like the World By Us line, it's just been hard cause I haven't had new doll space (or money!) for a while now. I moved into my grandpa's old house (my parents kept it- it's technically a lake house but not nearly as nice/fancy as the words "lake house" make you think of) and since a lot of my parents things are still in here it's been hard to find space for stuff- my furniture and a lot of my trinkets are in storage for the foreseeable future. As far as collection goals for 2024, right now I'm trying to calm down on spending cause I'm paying off my credit card and saving for a house of my own but also I have three big events this year: mom and I are going to Disneyland, best friends wedding, and another friend and I are traveling. I'm concentrating more on Star Wars dolls and Disney dolls- both the new ILY dolls and there's a couple of retired lines themed around the different park attractions. Right before Christmas I was able to get the collector edition Constance Hatchaway doll from the Haunted Mansion! A few years ago they had a line, sold in the parks, that was themed around different rides called "Attractionistas" and I'm looking for the Haunted Mansion doll, and the Tower of Terror doll which is REALLY expensive (for me anyway) second-hand. There's also a series from the early 00s themed around the rides and they also came with a little pin collection and their own little lanyards, and I'm looking for the Haunted Mansion and Tower of Terror dolls from that line too. My other doll related goal for 2024 is I'm FINALLY going to build a couple of rooms for my American Girl doll house! I'm determined! I've been wanting to do it for years and I finally have a garage I can do that in and I'm not having to haul things up stairs. And even though all my dolls are at my parents, all the doll furniture is here with me and building the rooms will definitely help with storage- I'm doing each room as its own independent thing that I can stack, so it would actually take up less floor space than all of it does now. Oh WOW, I did not realize how long this comment was! Sorry ^^;

I was driving home listening to part of your video and the way my jaw dropped when you said Polly pockets! I had tons of Polly Pockets and Littlest Pet Shop (the original ones) when I was a kid. I have a few of each still that I saved but I had soooo many my parents made me get rid of back then. I'd love to get some again but they seem $$ at least to include the people. I had always wanted a Molly when I was little. Last year I finally started my collection - 2 tan body Pleasant Company Molly's and one white body Molly. I'd like to get most of her outfits. Can't wait to continue my Molly journey! Thank you for all the great information.

It's a tough call, but if purchasing Evette is inevitable (inEvette-able LOL), go ahead and get her while she's cheap. You'll save more money in the long run!
Im that same way. If too many people gravitate towards something or someone like a celebrity than I drop them like a hot potato. Prime example was JC. When everyone was feeling Justin Timberlake, I was team JC. Now I am learning towards Justin Timberlake music colabs with other artists and unfortunately JC is just not singing in that classic, beloved JC soulful voice. Such is the case with Barbie. I love 1980s We Girls Can Do Anything campaign, didn't see a lot of references to the CEO who championed that phrase. So iconic, yet no air time in the movie. Love Evette's story theme for biracial families ❤. THAT KERI Russell hair is everything.
My Holly Grail dolls im wanting are White body doll it doesn't matter who and what year , #4 I've always wanted her, I'm wanting to get Molly's rerelease item's since I got Kits rerelease items and outfits for Christmas.
I love Evette so much that I bought a second one at the sale price. I have fewer than 10 American Girl dolls and a space packed with 200 other dolls, so an AG duplicate is a big thing. I also bought Corrine, Makena, and the boy #75, as well as several items of clothing. Unfortunately most of the good clothing was gone by the time I found out about the sale. I live in Canada, so AG is more expensive for me, but I would have bought more if I had the money and space. I really hope those low sale prices don’t mean AG gets into deep financial trouble. I just started collecting them in the past year or so, and I want them to be around for a while yet.
Loved your intro, was so funny! I did buy Samantha and Lila and some clothes that were reduced! Samantha won’t be shipped until May 😮 and Lila will be shipped Jan 26th. I have 4 AG dolls. I’m so excited you chose Evette! I ordered her on sale too. She has been on my wish list for a long time even though I mainly collect historical girls. I am only missing, Emily, Courtney and the Hoffman twins. I have two girl of the years, Corinne and Blair and I can’t wait to get my Evette. I have Evette !! My last doll was Grace ! so it has been awhile since my collection. But Jonny you have inspired me to get back into AG and Evette was my first doll I paid for myself. I am so happy to see I made a good choice!
