American Heritage Museum Walkthrough | World-Class Military Vehicle Collection

Footage from my last few trips to the American Heritage Museum in Hudson, Massachusetts.
The 69,000 sq. ft. facility is home to the Collings Foundation's collection of over 100 fully-restored military vehicles from WWI, WWII & through to the War on Terror.
Many of the tanks, tank destroyers, artillery & aircraft on display are some of the only examples anywhere in North America, including a fully-operational Panther A (restored by Jacques Littlefield & team), a Higgins Boat that participated in the D-Day landings & a Sherman Jumbo from the Battle of the Bulge.
This is not a paid promotion - I'm just a big fan of the collection! Enjoy!

I have been here twice before and i must say, it it a truly amazing experience! I didn't read a lot of the signs, so i didn't know how many of these were 1 of 1s in the US!

I can’t agree more about The AHM! I’m actually take the opposite approach you did. I’ve been volunteering at this museum for more than a year now, but I’m just coming back to scale modeling after a 55 year hiatus. I’m finding your videos VERY informative and look forward to viewing more.

I live in New Hampshire and I have been there twice. What you showed was wonderful but I also found WW1 trench display really nice. Enjoy you're modeling videos.

That's great! It's an awesome spot - and totally agree, the trench exhibit is very impressive. I didn't want to film in there too much so folks can experience it for themselves... it's quite an experience. Cheers! 👍

Very nice job with the video. I have been a volunteer there for a little over 2 years and enjoyed seeing myself in a couple of your shots. It is a great collection and many modelers come in and take very detailed photos.

Great video editing. If you're ever down in Colorado, be sure to visit the National Museum of World War II Aviation. I think you'll love it and be able to make a great video out of it.

Unless its moved, there is also a T-34/85 at the AAF museum in Danville, VA. They also have one of the few remaining Panzer IV H's. It came from Israel and was used by Syria in the 6 Day war.

There's a T-34 85 on display in Oshkosh, WI my dude. Also that Panzer I A has some very incorrect fittings on one side. I have to get to this place at some point.

Oh cool! Yeah I just read into it - I guess they're calling this "the only one on display in North America" because the WI one is in storage right now? The Panzer I restoration was just completed by Jacques Littlefield's mechanic (& team), so I'm guessing whatever decisions were made about the fittings have to have some historical grounding. It's an awesome place & totally worth a visit - thanks for watching!

Overall very good video. However I'm surprised you didn't film our M1 Abrams tank , SdKz 222 or the last surviving Japanese Ho-Ro SPG. By the way the P-40 has an AVG motor in as well. The Bf 109 started in life as a G-14 but was partially updated to the G-10 standard. It's a bit of a mixed airframe actually. The IS-2 is also a very rare surviving one of the first built early variants with the original KV hull. We have added a few more pieces since the vid like a type VII U-Boat wintergarden and original 1917 Neuiport 28. Also the original Rosie the Rocketeer recon L4 Grasshopper.

I noticed on your channel that you have a walkaround of the M4A3E8 Korean War paint job - was that you that painted up the tiger face? I was there that day & have a few pictures of the work-in-progress 😁

@@SpruesNBrews Amazing place isn't it ? We hope to have our SBD Dauntless for the Dec 7th anniversary . Rob announced he also acquired a N1K Rex floatplane as well as the 6 or so restorations already going on. To answer your question yes the paint job is mine. I really put it here only as a link for another site. I have a good number of other paint works on the tanks and planes but Kitty is by far the most extravagant. BTW make sure you stop by when we run some of the tanks outside. You can get a first hand view of what real field conditions (dirt, mud, dust)look like on a vehicle. Nothing like the Tamiya catalog pictures for sure!

The 17pdr Antitank gun (British) is in fact a 6pdr AT gun.

You might want to check on the Bren Gun Carrier and the anti-tank gun. I believe that is the 6 pounder and not the 17 ponder which is much larger. Very enjoyable video as I have never heard of this collection before. Thank you.

The vast majority of the AHM tanks were the best part of the Jacques Littefield collection. (Take a look on RU-vid for the numerous videos there.) There were 240 pieces to his collection when he died in 2009.

Actually, when The American Heritage Museum opened, all but 3 of the 80+ tanks/armor had been fully restored to running status. It’s really a kick working there.

You state at the begining of the video that the Panther A is the only one in North America, this is incorrect as there is one at the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa, Ontario

@@SpruesNBrews some t72 where used in the Iran Iraq war although most of them where t72ms and m1s but its not impossible that they had some Urals in where as well and maybe one of them where captured .

i was there this month with my sister and her son it was great and wonderful i saw in the World War two a film it shows Hitler our father was in that war, but it got me to thinking to worry and afraid like Germany in the 1930s we too may be face with the same problem here in America. a Donald Trump Dictatorship,
