In this video I share our experience using a history curriculum that relies solely on picture books. Yes, you read that right! It's that simple, but here's the thing...it works! Adding this engaging literature to our homeschool has been one of the most joyful and educational experiences for us.

Have your heard of Build Your Library curriculum? It’s literature based history/geography and also has narration cards.

I love this idea. Have you considered making one for world history? Ancient world history in particular....

Im definitely considering it but right now I’m just creating what my family is currently studying. We will probably jump back to ancients in Fall 2025. I do have some blog posts when we studied ancient history last year. I can share a link with you if you’re interested. We used a variety of books and crafts so it was set up a little different but it was still a lot of fun!!

Oh I love this!! I definitely need more simplicity and more open-ended than “do a then b then c” because it feels wrong when we’re missing pieces!!

Would you say that this would work for a Highschooler as well? I’m just wanting to build a chronological timeline of history for all three of my children. I’m not looking for a deep dive. Obviously I’d supplement things for my highschooler as needed. I have a special needs child so a lot of homeschool time will be outdoors or at a local library because he does better in that environment. Thank you, I’ve been looking for a family style history.

Absolutely! I’m 36 years old and I’ve learned more history in the last two years using this method than I ever did using a textbook in school! It’s such an engaging way to learn for all ages.
