We have had the American Iron Off-Road Ball Joint Delete kit installed on our Jeep for 3 months now, wheeling, rock crawling, overlanding, mudding, and more! Well it is time we gave y'all our honest opinion about this set. We will cover some commonly asked questions, tell you about some differences between the a balljoint and a delete kit, and overall talk about our personal experience having this set on our rig.

FINALLY... someone running a product and actually following up with a long term review. Tired of the installation vids and no update on performance. Thank you RSR.

We should have another video with them coming sometime after KoH. We're going to see Josh with America Iron while we're out there and talk shop and I'm sure he'll be interested to see how ours are holding up.

Addition too #2: every time you press a joint in/out the hole in the C, the hole gets bigger. Eventually never holding another joint in place

😂 nonsense, if that was the case, you'd eventually be able to install bj by hand. I have been running my 95 F350 since brand new... 27 yrs of replacing ball joints and they still require a press. Get out with that bullshit.

I would like to for sure give an absolute praise for these ball joint deletes as I have them in my JKUR. I have spoken to Josh at American Iron and he was awesome and their customer service was amazing. Josh with Rock Solid Rig was also as amazing as he was a valuable source of information when I decided to get these. I see no setbacks with the design and they have performed flawlessly and have been tested thoroughly while I was wheel’n with Rock Solid Rig. Thanks to you guys!!!

I’ve been following Josh with American Iron Off-road for a long time now. Almost since he started the Facebook group. He’s created one hell of a product! I’ve been waiting for my UD44 spicer joints to go out so I can get his deletes and never have to worry about them!

The best way I've heard these described... basically turns your dana 60 into a kingpin axle in theory
@hey_youtubeim_back2159
@hey_youtubeim_back2159 Год назад
The ball joint setups on Dodge front ends do not carry any load. They're more designed just to Center the upper knuckle. Do these kingpins change that in any way?
@Sniperssx

So you recommend it can that be use as daily drive also do i have to worry about alignment of caster and camber
@RockSolidRig

These are a direct replacement for your normal ball joints. They do not have an impact on your caster or camber.
@jeremy8715
@jeremy8715 2 года назад
Do these last longer than traditional ball-joints? Is the shaft / bolt of the ball-joint delete stationary? Once these are pressed in is there no need to press the housing back out? Is it just replacing the internals?
@RockSolidRig
@RockSolidRig 2 года назад
The shaft sits inside a spherical bearing that is able to be replaced. The cup stays in and never needs to be pressed out, just remove c-clips and remove the bearing and replace with a new one. They are extremely strong compared to other ball joints we've run and had friends destroy moog balljoints within 3 months. Strongly recommend these.
@TheRoadhammer379
@TheRoadhammer379 Год назад
These ball joint eliminators have been beaten to death in Moab, on King of the Hammers in California, and numerous other insane wheeling spots, these eliminators are stout
@Doubletap788
@Doubletap788 2 года назад
Thanks for the updated review. Are these okay to run on a daily driven vehicle? Wouldnt the spehrical bearing wear a lot faster than a standard ball joint from seeing a lot of both street and trail use? How often you need to change out the bearings and perform maintenance? I often drive my rig 300 miles to the trail and back but I also drive it to work . Wondering if traditional ball joints are better in my situation? Any feedback with your experience would really help. Im just sick of ball joints.
@RockSolidRig
@RockSolidRig 2 года назад
We run these on our daily and just got back from a trip about 300 miles away. They have a 2 yr 30k mile warranty. I haven't had any issues and we wheel the hell out of it. We've put maybe 10k on them already and love the fact I'll never have to press joints again.

I have the upper deletes on my 95 F350, they are from Down to Fab industries, they only offer the upper BJE. They are greaseable and use brass bearings, 4 yrs and roughly 20k miles, daily driving, winter road extractions, Rausch creek off road wheeling, they are stout. I would recommend BJE on daily drivers and I'm actually switching to the American Iron version because they offer upper and lower BJE.
@gabrieldalcomune3044

Would one have to worry about dust and debris ending up in the bearings? I was thinking of a dynatrac balljoint set on my JL, but this seems to be perfect.
@RockSolidRig
@RockSolidRig Год назад
They're pretty well sealed in there and at this point we have over 20k miles and zero issues.
@gabrieldalcomune3044
@gabrieldalcomune3044 Год назад
Interesting it seems like from a debris standpoint I should be a-okay then since I don’t wheel as often as I’d want. I figure if I do swap to them I feel like they’ll last longer on my jeep than others who wheel harder/more. One more question though, from what I know, the older ford king pin set ups had a longer turn radius vs the newer balljoint setups. Does swapping to the delete affect it at all?
@RockSolidRig

@@gabrieldalcomune3044 that I can't really answer, but Josh with American Iron would be able to give you the exact answer. You can message him on his Facebook page.

@@gabrieldalcomune3044 that is not true at all. The king pin F350 and the later bj F350, single cab, 133"wb trucks were within 2 inches at 51'6" for kingpin, 51'4" for ball joint.

@TheRoadhammer379

No, Dana 60 axles from Ford and dodge, 92 and newer for Ford, 2000 and newer dodge. But... I would call the company, they offer the kit for the dana 44 in jeeps. They may be able to work for your rig.

I installed these in Jan. I haven’t havnt had any issues until lately. They are hard to manually move and causes my tires to sway. Did I not lube them correctly? If not, can I still do that or do I have to service them?

Pricing lifetime balljoints vs these and its not too far off. Looking at 80-100 per on traditional and you need 4 so 320 to 400 vs 550ish.

@@simonearley3411 I'm looking at 50$ for 4. And 250$ replacing them every year for 5 years. So I'll make my own deletes versus ever buying them.
