I really appreciate your channel. No nonsense, straightforward and you’re not afraid to try something and then change when you find something better. 👍🏻
Enjoyed your video Brad. I just wanted to let you know you need to do 1 thing that might save your life. IF you ever Roll your Jeep. You will want to either move your Seatbelt cutter OR Velcro it to the Console Lid or inside it. Reason; IF you roll it and you go to open it up...where is the knife going to when the console is opened-up? Out of the Console and on the roof or the door....And, You would be lucky to ever catch it when that happen's. Just an Tip is all.
Bartact makes a seatbelt wrap that has two straps on it. Great place to mount a seat belt cutter. In a roll over, it’s on your chest. If you can reach the seatbelt that needs cut, you can reach the tool.
I'm also running the Vector across my dash; love that thing. One thing I did for power to accessories (e.g. phone, GPS, iPad, etc) is to run a USB hub up to the dash. This allows me to run short USB cables just for power as needed.
This whole video was just a rock solid vid. I truly loved it. It explained all the rock solid interior designs. The rock solid leather seats and all. Your just a rock solid man. I just gave a rock solid like and comment.
First time watchin the video and channel. First half of the video as I'm admiring the jeep mods, I'm also wondering, why does this guy gives me a "Doc" vibe???? 14:58 Haha. Hell yeah brother. Anyway. As I was...
Brad , you put very cool videos on your site, I am hoping to get a Rubicon jeep here one day in the near future is my plan and dream. I also have a friend also who has one. If I am ever able to get one ,. I would hope to go out with you and your friend Marko. I have only been on a couple of trails with a different friend.
Hi Brad, I got hit by a drunk driver at 100+ mph while traveling 55 and it flipped my Jeep over and caught on fire. I was stuck upside down and locked into me seat by my seatbelt. I was hanging upside down for over 20 minutes fearing I was going to be burned alive or hit by another motorist. I now have three seat belt cutters in every vehicle I own, in fact I think it should be required as part as your yearly inspection. Thank god the first responder had a sear belt cutter.
I’ll second you on the seatbelt cutter. As a former Army Flight Medic these little tools come in handy when you have to extract someone from their vehicle.
Hey Master Chief, great channel. You have me hooked. As a retiree like yourself, I was wondering if you have encountered any businesses that give military discounts on Jeep mods? I didn’t consider it until I came across Morris 4x4 center which offers active military/retirees/veterans/First Responders a 5% discount plus free shipping on any order. Every dollar counts when modifying my toy plus I’d love to tell my wife that I received a “military discount” on all parts I purchase. I need something to counter the “I got it on sale” clothes shopping line that I receive. Just curious. Semper Fi Doc! Keep up the good work.
great looking set up brad. Its fun to watch the progression of someone else's gear as it makes me think i'm not so crazy after all haha! I really like that 67 designs mount system and need to get that in our Jeep. I agree that the iPad mini is a perfect set up and i also use Gaia GPS and it works fantastic!
Excellent video, might be a good idea mounting the seatbelt cutter, if you’re upside down and open the centre console chances are the seat belt cutter will fall and possibly be out of reach
Hello Brad, and thank you for all of your content. You really do a great job, and as someone who is still learning a lot about his Jeep, your videos are super informative and helpful. I have a question about the air compressor and CO2 that you talked about. You mentioned going from the compressor to CO2 when you went to bigger tires. Was the ARB compressor not able to air up the larger tires to a good pressure, or did it just take FOREVER to get to a good pressure? I'm trying to decide what I want on my own Jeep. Thanks again for what you do, and thanks for your time.
Both the compressor and CO2 have their pros and cons. The compressor will do the job, just takes a bit longer. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-S1Qc5PK_vd0.html
What would it take for a smaller RU-vidr to join you on an adventure? I like that you are no nonsense and I am pretty sure I would like adventuring and camping with you and your boys. I have organized many meet up events in the past but since COVID I have not had many outings. I am in Canada in BC and I love long road trips. Currently I have a 2003 WJ but I am ready to pull the trigger on a loaded 2014 Sahara. BrbAdventurer look me up I have all the socials just looking to grow my channel and make new Jeep friends.
A tablet is the way to go for music, movies and gps forget about the touchscreen radios they suck just make sure you get a good tablet not a cheap one i use a asus z10 for about a year now and travel every 2 months of 400 miles not counting on my daily drive. i use 3 vent magnets to hold the tablet had no problems or worries of it falling
I don't think that's the best location for a seatbelt cutter. If you have rolled, you can potentially drop it while opening the center console. I believe attaching it with velcro to a wall would be more beneficial. Thanks for the video.
Hi Brad, I just subscribed to your channel! Amazing videos, well edited and EXTREMELY helpful. Your knowledge of Jeeps is exactly the information I've been looking for since I am planning to get into this 'adventure'. So I have this question. I've been holding out to get one of the 2019 supposedly) diesel Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. But I'm now wondering, is the diesel going to be that much of an upgrade? Thanks!
Welcome to the channel! I am excited to learn more about the diesel when it comes out, but can't say if it is or isn't worth waiting for. The 3.6 has been very reliable for me.
Sorry we didn't film it, but when I go to re-organize everything back there I'll try and film it and show how we made the power outlet. Everything was purchased on amazon.. cheap stuff.
Hey Brad and Regina really like the content of your channel. Very informative and straight to the point of the equipment pros and cons. Honest refreshing. Thank you for your service to our country.🗽🪖🇺🇸
Level 999999999999999999999999999 Boss Just my opinion that every man that cares about the lives of his loved ones and others should carry a gun and know how to use it. Plus what’s a weekend camping trip without some target shooting?
Hi Brad, long time Jeeper and SAR guy here. Loved the video and appreciate your efforts and hard work. Please accept my comments from experience and personal impressions. My intent is from a place of respect. In the event of a collision your setup concerns me. One of the things you want to be sure to think about is flying interior "debris" (your audience needs to be aware). The dash crossbar strikes me as a point of potential injury. I love the idea but....A-Pillars are "fairly" strong but when compromised anything attached will be at the mercy of force..think chrome moly and welded, think Baja racing :) Manufactures (Jeep ) go to great extremes to reduce potential occupant injury. No-one expects the worst scenarios, but they can and do happen. Any accessories above the chest/torso, in the event of a collision or mutliple rollover can compromise or exacerbate the inability of airbags to function properly (interference/puncture) and severely injure occupants. My advice is keep the driver compartment as clean and uncluttered as possible. All of my electronic accessories are either secured via A-Pillar mounted, under dash, or under seat. I am curious about the Ipad and why the need to be mounted externally when there SO many in dash units on the market that interface with smaller form factor smart devices, GPS included. Regarding your SPOT device, I have carried one for years. I hunt, fish and "wheel" in very remote areas of Washington state. Please consider this an "On-person" device. The dash is not a place for this device, particularly trying to find it in panic mode and full of Adrenalin. I would also recommend "carry out insurance" in the event air transport is needed. Seat belt cutters....first aid kit, each door, secure to your headliners, familiarize your riders and occupants they need to be EASY reach. Wheel safe my friend love your Jeep and your hard work. Most Sincerely...
Nice video, you mention how the inserts into the top cut down on the heat and cold, but bot the noise. The only way to cut down on the noise is to insulate the interior sheet metal, floors, doors (skins and interior supports) Also wheel wells on the outside... Makes a huge difference.
Hey man really enjoy your videos ! Because of you I bought me a 2023 jeep gladiator sport . My first ever jeep and I wanted to ask you about tire upgrade, I will like 33” inch tires and will like for your recommendation? Thanks in advance
So I have a question concerning all the 12 volt drain. Do you run a dual battery system and high output alternator? With all the 12 volt goodies we install on our toys it would seem that a single battery would not keep up. I am wanting to install the Dual battery set up on My wife’s new Gladiator and eliminate the baby battery as well in the process.
Brad, I’m preparing to mount an iPad Mini 4 in the exact same configuration. I found the right Ram mount frame, but can you share the 67 parts, most specifically the length of the carbon fiber arm you used for the iPad mount? Thanks
Great video wondering if you know or have a cell phone holder you recommend for 16 JK, my wife would like one for Christmas. Or any other useful interior upgrades, we have Bestop freedom top for hard top and AMP steps both have been perfect for her. PS 4 jeep family 08JK, 16JK, 16JK, 17JK and every family has that one rebellious child (19 Subaru ) I know what is a parent to do :) .
I just priced your fridge on Amazon. What makes yours worth $1000 more than Amazon's #1 best seller, the Euhomy-55L @ $340? It also has 4.5-stars via 750 ratings, compared to only 16 ratings on the Dometic brand, likely due to the astronomical price tag.
Hi Brad ... I just subscribed to your channel. Can you please go over new equipment [2018] suggestions for HAM radios [handhelds & in car units and GPS models] for the jeep. I'm a noobie to all of this and have been trying to read up/watch videos for handhelds and can't seem to find anything great. I was wondering if you could explain/suggest a handheld that would be VHF/UHF with 1500w capable [yes, 1500w] to not just use in jeep outings for fun, but also if the SHTF as well and could communicate to anyone in the world to gather info. Would this be possible for you to explain ? I did watch a video here somewhere saying that you have to get the same kind of radio as the group you are going out with otherwise you won't be able to communicate ... ??? is that true ? I don't want a radio like someone else - I would like to think you could buy any brand, any model and still be able to communicate with all parties in your group. Thanks for your help on this.
Thanks for sharing Brad - wife and I enjoy watching ur vidz. We all know Jeepers are usually 2A appreciative. Any reason why you avoid that subject when outfitting a jeep or when out on the trail? Thx
Would you consider making a video going through the various options presented on the Jeep website where one can "Build & Price" a Wrangler Sahara model and making recommendations for new buyers.
How does the Wrangler compare to other off-road competitors? Toyota Tacoma TRD, Subaru’s, Honda Passport. I suppose nothing is more off-road capable but something else might be pretty good and better for all-around or towing use. Fire extinguisher? I did see the vid of this new Wrangler going up in flames. I wonder if a nitrogen cylinder is available instead of CO2?
Not to hate on anything you do but if you want a knife that's actually a tool you need to carry a fixed blade knife. I have a 20 dollar hultafors and that sucker is a mini prybar, fire starter, screw driver, club, cleaning debri out of excavator buckets to replace teeth on the fly and basicallywhateveryou can imagine. ... damn near 1/4" thick and you can sharpen any deformations out of it easily lol a folding knife just creates a weak link in your support system. A folding knife is only a cutting edge. You can get a nice molle / kydex sheath and attach it right to your seat back
You said you want to CO2 when you went to larger tires. At what point did you made the switch, going to 35" or 37"? Also, I am going to be getting a stock Rubicon and would like air on the rig, what is the advantage of the larger compressor?
New to the Jeep world, where'd you get your sPOD? I am looking for a set up but also with the unique naming; zombie lights, launch rockets (like you have), etc. TrailRecon
Hey Brad, I just bought my son a 2012 Jeep Unlimited Sahara. It has a pro comp lift on it. And 35 inch tires. The person previously that owned it. Had the spare tire in the back. What do you recommend for a rear tire holder. And brake light and license plate holder
Don't bother with the cellphone version of the iPad. Turn your own cellphone on hotspot, put it somewhere you'll get signal, and connect the iPad (or Android tablet if you prefer) to the hotspot. Eliminating an extra mobile network subscription will help to pay for your daily driving MPG ;)
I have a 2015 Rubicon with a 3.5 lift, im running a 20 inch rims on a 35 inch Nitto ridge grappler it does well on dry land but sucks on a wet freeway road......what should I change any suggestion?
ARB Dual Compressor: 37" from 15psi to 30psi, all 4 wheels in 7min. I couldn't be happier with that. Thanks for for your walk around Brad. Can't imagine to commute in my Jeep every day for 2h. There are for sure sure cars out there to do that task more in style. Hope to meet you one day out there on So Cal trails. Want to promote your barber too? You are always super sleek! ;-)
Glad to see a fellow ham operator just purchased our 2nd jeep 1st one was a cj5 1975 model got a gladiator 500 miles on it ..1st time viewer...kg4avh..
Brad, enjoy your videos….could you at some point talk about recommendations for self defense while overlanding and transiting to and from. Thanks, Dave from Colorado
Love the vid and showing what you can do. I love jeeps because they're so hackable. Hey I got a weird jeep interior question -- is there a company that makes a front passenger seat that comes out super easy? I want to sleep in my 2door and I can't think of any other way to make that happen.
I can't find the video where you are talking about how you installed your strip light system on your back window. Can you direct me to that one please? I overland in my Jeep and I would love to have something like that to read by at night when sleeping in the back. Thanks!
My guess is you don't take the top off? Or just the freedom panels, possibly. I would love to do more trails, but I don't live in an area that has a lot of that close by.
Not a car savvy person at all, so I'm kinda scared to ask but... What's the deal with the fire extinguisher? What kind of places do you visit where you expect a fire to break out? Lol
Sorry for my english. I write from Spain. Can you tell me where can I buy the black panel installed on the ceiling as acoustic and thermal insulation??. Thanks for your help.
Hey Brad you do have a bigger fire extinguisher with you if you had a blower nozzle for your CO2 kit it should work as a fire extinguisher. CO2 just displaces the oxygen and should smother the fire try it at home in a controlled environment before taking out on the trail
Nice interior upgrades Brad. I recently switched over to CO2 as well for speed and ease but kept my ARB dual setup under the passenger’s seat as a backup. You know the old saying, two is one and one is none. I went with 2 ten pound tanks as my wife and I routinely go on week long trips and this will allow enough for those long trips. Mike
Maybe you won't see this, since the video is almost two years old ...and you may have already installed the fridge slider...but, the safety factor is huge. If you wreck and a fridge is loose in the back of the Jeep...it might very well find itself in the front seat.
Something I recommend is attaching a seatbelt cutter onto the base of your seatbelt itself. Then whoever you need it it’ll be within arms reach and always in the same spot even if you roll over
Great video...just bought my first Jeep. Bare bones, gently used. Looking to add over time. This was a great overview and allowed me to start a list. Thank you....
Hey, I don’t know if you’ve talked about it anywhere else, but how is the iPad for navigation? I like the idea, but when using my phone for navigation, I have to turn the radio off and strain to hear it sometimes when going down the road..
Did you keep your carpet in or did you do the bedrug swap? Just got a jk and have noticed it’s got leaky doors really thinking about the Bedrug if you or anyone in the comments have used that product feedback would be great thanks
question i have a 2016 wrangler seraria just upgraded headlights from stock to the led projector style and something is not right then i have my low bean light on the one side is normal 3 on and the other is high beam all 4 on and when i put on the high beams it flips sides 4-3 any thoughts ????
Question about the tail-gate table please. I've seen tables that fold out with an upper and lower table area. Have you seen those? What is your opinion of the pros and cons? Thank you.
Great video that S pod is awesome looks like a freaking jet fighter cockpit. I like that seatbelt cutter- you mentioned on the website . which website exactly are you referring to
Hello trail recon I have been using the Magellan TRX 5 I am getting frustrated on the lack of finding trails Do you have any newer GPS units that might be better?? Thank you very much Love your videos Scott
Great video, thanks for the walk through!!! Just started using Gaia as well and really like it too, can map out your rides and share too, as well as being reliable. Nice set up, I think my favorite mod of your build is the CO2....I haven’t pulled the trigger on that one yet. Thanks again for sharing!!
Hey Brad just a thought that may help you with the decision of putting that slider in. The first time you almost roll, completely roll. Come across an obstacle that you have to hit because you either didn't see it or came up to fast on it. That cooler is gonna smash around and break a window or hit a passenger or the cooler just gets destroyed. With the slider you wont have to strap and unstrap every time you need to open it. It will be in one place and will be one less thing to worry about in the event of a mishap. Hope this helps.
Solved my problem so far. Lost my keys in the snow and had to have the locksmith come out to get me a new key. Once I locked it from the inside and tried to use the key the alarm would go off. Use the key solely to lock/unlock I'm fine
do the kc lights whistle on the highway or at any speeds. I took out a new rubicon with an led bar above windshield and it whistles really bad? . Thank you :)
Great Video, so I am hearing a lot more about the Gaia GPS app. Would you recommend it over anything else now like the Magellan? I am looking for the least complicated option for local use in Central Oregon. I am trying to weigh the option of purchasing a tablet or a stand-alone unit. Thanks.
i think all those gadgets are cool when it comes to off roading, but you wont ever catch me with all those things obstructing my visbility. pedestrians and other cars in nyc come out of nowhere
