Soldiers of the 2nd US division, mainly composed of veterans from other military campaigns but also fearsome very good shooters Marines, were ordered to hold the line in the timber sector Belleau, which were then in the hands of the Germans. After repelling the attacks for days, the Marines received the order to resume the Belleau Wood on the 6th of June 1918.
