Everybody sells in this market starting around 1pm and goes until they sell out. I would say they are normally done around 5pm. So the best time to get here would be between 2-3pm. goo.gl/maps/9vrPocMWdzJ1JrGG8
My favorite thing in the world is that my brain thinks of you as kin because you’re a Southerner speaking with a Southern accent but then you so smoothly transition into Vietnamese! My mind is starting to positively associate Vietnamese culture with Southern culture. We gossip and cook and share food the same way. You even treat the Aunties the same way we do. It’s just a really pleasant experience for me. It’s rare to find Southern language RU-vidrs. I’m like genuinely shocked at how big of a deal accent is to comfort level. I didn’t even recognize that there was a distance between me and RU-vid’s English-speaking polyglots until I heard your voice.
If you haven't had the pleasure of dealing with Vietnamese immigrants in the US, you're missing out. They tend to be really good at integrating with their local community while still maintaining a lot of their culture, which they are proud to share with others. I've heard from foreigners that the Vietnamese in their countries are the same as how I've described them here. Basically, the Vietnamese make a great addition to any community that welcomes them.
It's the day before Lunar New Year here in the U.S. and this wound up in my feed. NYC transplant living in Northwest Arkansas, so I'm acclimated to the Southern accent and hospitality. The first thing to get used to is how folks just have a conversation with you waiting on line for anything - bank, grocery, restaurant. Seeing him do the same in Vietnam just shows you can take the boy out of the South but you can't take the South out of the boy. 😊
As a Vietnamese American, it's really nice to see someone who really enjoys the food, understands and appreciates the culture. Thank you for providing these videos Mr. Max, I haven't been able to stop watching! Brings back so many memories of childhood when my family and I would go visit Saigon for Tet Trung Thu every year.
Why is the southern accent more difficult to learn? I thought the central accent is most difficult. My parents were northerners but we lived in the south so I have a hybrid northern/southern accent.
@@sirhoopalot1 I always found it more difficult to find information on the other accents since the Northern accent is what's taught in schools and textbooks for English speakers.
Him chomping on the coffee bean, you can hear it, so want to go there and just try one lol. I love coffee, but I have yet to have a single one that I'd actually call good, sounds like they have it so right
A little message to anyone watching from Vietnam. You have a beautiful country and you're all very friendly to foreigners! I really appreciate everyones kindness during my visits and wish I knew the language to just be able to sit and chat and laugh. Love from Melbourne Australia
Your Vietnamese is just BANGING!! I love your banter with the locals so much they’re so fun to watch 😊😊 thanks for the videos Max! Brings me back to my childhood in Vietnam
Max is so friendly, he’s always explaining every detail, about food and culture, He is a very extremely intelligent, and very knowledgeable,😋 keep up the great work, Max ❤

Úi trời Max cute đi đâu cũng trò chuyện với người dân, cảm giác gần gũi và thân thiện quá đi ha :v Cute Max always chats with people wherever he goes, it feels so close and friendly :v
@@innominatum9906 doesnt take any longer than it would take to write in perfect spanish or any other dialect, it's a pretty latin language. could be worse, could be kanji
@@innominatum9906 If you're typing on PC or phone, we has some tools which just turn all the tone marks into the number 1-9, so you can literally type a word then add the numbers to make it become the right word you want to say. Besides that there is always auto-word-suggestion function, really helpful to type faster. It doesn't take a long time at all. But if you write by hands then it's another story lol
@@Fumito19 Ah okay nice that gave me a better idea of how you do it. I fairly rarely use all those signs so doing it "manually" would take AGES for me but I guess it also comes down to experience as with much else =) Happy New Year, friendo =)
@@innominatum9906Happy New Year =) Vietnamese is really hard for foreigners exactly because of those tone marks lol. It's my mother language but sometime it still makes me confused. But the more you learn, the more you find it interesting. Many people told me that, so good luck to you xxx
Thank you Max for loving Vietnam foods, specially from Southern cousins. Your pronouncements in Vietnamese language is awesome.I see how a smart guy you are. Thanks again Max.
I can’t believe how good your Vietnamese is! Part of me is jealous and the other part of me feels shameful of myself! I am half Vietnamese and I understand everything and I know how to say words, but for the life of me I can’t seem to put it all together to form a sentence! How did you learn? I honestly believe you were really Vietnamese in a past life. I’m finally going to be visiting the homeland for the first time with my mom at the end of this month and I can’t not wait to try all the foods. Who knows maybe I’ll run into you and Chris. 🥳
I remember traveling with someone similar to you who could understand but not speak French on day 1 in France they were just nodding and saying a few words but by the end of the week they were stringing sentences together. You will be fine, just need to hang out with the locals for a bit, and don't be afraid to give it a go.
Sis, submersion is how you get there. I'm an Italian-American from NY and became fairly good in Korean after 4 yrs, no classes, just living in Korea. Scored intermediate on the Korean test.
What an absolute fun video, such a joy watching you enjoy the aunties in Vietnam. They have some fascinating stories to tell, always there for a great conversation or a laugh.. 2:20 I believe you were right about this. The Vietnamese community absolutely love you
It's not a Max video until someone asks if he's single lol! 🤣 I loved seeing them roast the coffee right there at their stall and you even get to taste the bean! How amazing, this is what I love to see and experience!
It’s really pleasure to watch your video, for me I can understand conversations in VN, and for my kids they can understand when you speak in English, so it’s a win-win for us, all thanks to your lovely videos. Thanks Max💐🌾and also surprisingly, you adapt soo…well in the Vietnamese culture, even better than us👏🤭😍
With each passing month, Chris and Max improve on their food documentaries. It’s really engaging and upbeat and always happy to receive little kernels of knowledge.
Love how humble the title of this video is.... It just describes a down to earth American dude who learned to speak the native language fluently. He can communicate easily and enjoys interacting with the Vietnamese aunties. No BS about how he "SHOCKED the locals" or "BROKE the matrix". Wish the other RU-vidrs who showcase their language abilities would be more like this IMHO.
As a vietnamese international student living abroad in Chicago, I absolutely love your vlogs. You’re actually exploring corners of Vietnam that I wasn’t even aware of and it’s very fun seeing ya interacting with the locals. Your chemistry seems incredibly natural, keep it up!
I love the coffee. I have my nail technician (who I met last year) who has become my friend. She gave me the coffee while I was waiting and I LOVE IT!! I do not like coffee. I have met her children and her sister owns the shop. Their father is just so adorable. He finally said hi to me and I was so thrilled. My nail tech translated what he was saying to me and it filled my heart.
Hi Max, I stumbled on your videos and have been binge watching them. I have been so inspired by the amazing food you've showcased that I've seek out the recipes online and been making a different Vietnamese dish once a week. Everything has been so nostalgic and reminds me of the food my mom would make growing up. I didn't appreciate it then but I do now. Thank you! 😄😋
Max, this was one of the funniest video I have ever watched you interacting with the locals. Your Viet Namese is progressing much faster than I thought. Always enjoy your videos bro.
Okay. I have to admit. Your southern Vietnamese accent is so damn good! That is very hard to to pull off due to inflections and such. Also, you know how to humor with the locals. I’m absolutely impressed!
Dude your knowledge and true love for Vietnamese food is incredible. Super impressive. You making me want to visit Vietnam and eat all that fabulous food. Love your work mate. Good thing for me there’s heaps more videos to watch 👍
The 50 something years old lady didn't call you "mất dạy", which is a very insulting phrase to say someone is rude, without good parenting. She said she was old, "chị già rồi"
Not even you can speak Vietnamese fluently, you can actually gossip like Vietnamese. And it still surprises me since I have followed you channel from the beginning :D
Hello! Southern Asian here from the states. Your vietnamese is better than mine! Kudos to you! Looks like you are having a great time immersing in the culture and language. Keep it up with the language skills. We can all learn a thing or two! Happy adventuring!
Max..I have noticed you have been filming more of the Che desserts recently. I so appreciate you showing us their delicious Vietnamese desserts as I love them but they can be difficult to find here in the USA. Have a wonderful day and I am looking forward to your next video!
@@TheCharlesLuu Im in Tucson. There are a lot of Vietnamese here, but mostly they run stores. Can find some vietnamese desserts like banh xu xe and banh da lon but not really Che. There are some more options up in Phoenix though. I know Houston is awesome for vietnamese.. wish I could visit there!
Bonsieur Monsieur .. and welcome back to you Mr Max .. loved watching your lifestyle documentary video channel and you speak very good Vietnamese .. appreciate most of your spectacular beautiful shooting adventures street food travel, keep it up Sir and take care of yourself over there and stay safe .. Merci beaucoup from Montreal QC Canada ..
Max, I replaced and listened to what the coffee lady said, 7 - 8 times. She did not call you "Mất dạy" . She said "Tui già rồi". Her heavy southern accent and the way she pressed down the word "Gìa" made it sounds like "Dìa" and that sounded like "Dạy".
To learned the language of other countries is to get more respect to us.when you learned so much hard language, How your study deeply. Very nice explore Triple b Baby boy Paka paka
I really like your shows because you go to the roadside stands to eat what the average people there eat everyday instead of the expensive restaurants. Furthermore, you only order what can consume unlike some of the other big name foodies who would order a HUGE meal and waste over 95% of it.
Max always shows full of energy when it comes to Vietnamese foods. I dream to eat bố bía. I are it 30 years ago and still remember how it tastes like. Man you are so blessed with good food
Lunch, dessert and coffee! Perfect meal! We got that Che Trang in Singapore as well. It’s called Yong Tau Foo or Niang Tau Foo. Stuffed with fish paste as well but the commercial ones are ass and unfortunately the most common. The Hakka style version is the best and a proper one is getting harder and harder to find! The broth here is usually made with anchovies and soybeans if I’m not wrong. Great work as always brother!
Wait...I had no idea they added butter to the coffee. Is it clarified butter? I wish I'd known about this area when I was there; I stayed in District 3. I loved getting to know the people in the neighborhood; even after only a few weeks it felt like it was becoming "home." I was about to say "wait, nobody asked you if you're married," but there it was. 😀 Great episode!
You have such a wonderful demeanor. I hope to learn all the languages I can someday, it’s such a gift to be able to communicate with so many different people and cultures!
Max this was wholesomeAF, Buddy Boiii.. Your calm demeanour and chill humour exhibits a high level of situational awareness -- BIG FAN OF HUMANS SPREADING HUMANITY!!!Loved all your vids in India and southeast Asia series-- I WISH YOU WELL ..THANK YOU!!
