JCole was his muse, bigg role model growing up while being a dancer. This was his farewell song for his fans. Because he is furfilling his mandetory service in the military. Why haven't you heard of BTS? My theory is that it is because US media hypes them as a 'boy band' by focusing on their fluffier and more pop-driven English-language tracks and ignoring most of their discography because it isn't in English. Once you hear the rest of their music, you realize how broad their genres are but media is lazy and are going to run with the 'boy band' narrative because they can't be bothered.

Fun fact: J-hope was so caught up in freestyling during Cole's verse that they had to call cut several times. His love of music so interconnected with his love of dance. And yeah, this was filmed in NYC. You'll probably enjoy Hobi's Jack in the Box album since it's a nice mix of old school hip hop, rock, and pop.

Thank you for the reaction! I think it was a dream collaboration for J Hope, because he has always been such a fan of J Cole-and which his stage name is derived. Notice in the MV that J Hope moves from the bottom going up- subway all the way up on the building to J Cole- hoping to reach the same level as J Cole in music, therefore showing respect. We had been waiting for this to happen as J Cole is J Hope Muse. When J Hope headlined Lollapalooza Chicago and broke the record as the most attended artist in the history of Lollapalooza J Cole was waiting to meet him. There's really lovely footage of it happening. J Hope grew up dancing to J Cole music as he was part of the underground Hip Hop community as a member of the Street Dance Crew NEURON. When he was recruited to BigHit label he was surrounded by Rappers and started writing his own lyrics and taking part in the Rap Battles.

J Hope started his melody from one of his whistles. He whistles quite a bit to himself and this one time he decided to make produce this track with it. It was great the J Cole also whistles and his harmonies were great.

Even though BTS rap line is hella talented on their own - Try J-Hope & Becky G "Chicken Noodle Soup" (yes that Chicken Noodle Soup!!), RM &Wale, BTS "Born Singer" feat. Anderson Paak(their take on Born Sinner by J Cole).... always keep captions on, they switch between Korean & English... 💜

Dude…didn’t anyone tell you to always put on English captions when dealing with BTS whether Hopie alone or not? as sometimes half their words in S.Korean …..lolz….saw this vid so many times. Is OK….COULD probs sing/translate that shit for you maself……..I KID……don’t come for me Army…..Geez 😂😅 💜💜💜
