Nice reaction man. As a dad who has one daughter, whilst I was away in the States (after Divorce) she fell into an anorexia trap....13 years old).......took 2 years to slowly guide her out of that Pain when I came back. Now she does a fitness blog. All good. But as ever, Ren speaking truth 💯🙏🇬🇧

My father always told me I wasn't enough... education, looks, body, etc ,etc... I felt that through life but then I succeeded! I graduated university alone, supported myself and my 3 children who were each successful and then worked as a celebrity chef all over the world. If someone puts you down in life, don't absorb it... its their weakness. Use it to prove them wrong and enjoy YOUR life x

Ouch, wasn't expecting this level of empathy and tears from hearing Ren's words revealing what people, children are feeling and living as they breathe in all these false norms 😢.. Social Media can change this, the world wide web has the potential to fight all evils, yet it's become weaponised. There is HOPE though and Ren is holding HOPE high with other artists who share this feeling; for everyone to hear!!

This should be played in schools. Every year. I legit think this. Start the conversation about bullying etc. Every year with this.

This song should be played everywhere, It is so important and speaks the truth about society today and advertising. I love the music and the beat that Ren used for this. It's catchy and keeps you listening and hope the lyrics get into peoples heads and hearts.

I happen to have daughters, and you're not lying. One of my biggest concerns is helping them grow up with a healthy self-image. It goes both ways, though. My daughters are attractive, so I also need to instill in them a sense of humility and, hopefully, a sense of duty towards the more socially awkward kids they're going to encounter.

This song has so much meaning for so many people. Especially preteen and teenage girls. It just goes to show how in tune that Ren is to all the problems of the world. This is a beautiful song and I have a little sister that went thru this and it wasn't good for her. It was 30+ years ago but I still remember my little sister hurting and it still hurts me to this day to think about. Ren is such a beautiful angel in this world

I struggled with just about everything he mentioned for an extremely long time. I finally found recovery and peace in 2019, and I hope that helps someone out there know that it is possible to recover and live a wonderful life. Unfortunately, the rate of eating disorders amongst boys and men is rising exponentially. My 13 yr old nephew came home from school saying that his stomach was fat.. it breaks my heart. This song is so powerful, and can help so many people struggling with many different issues. REN speaks facts and raw emotion. This was a wonderful, heartfelt reaction. I think everyone has dealt with comparison, negative self talk etc on some level at some point in their lives. Let’s lift each other up like REN says… I love this community and am grateful for you @JoeESparks.

When I played this song for my 15 year old daughter and saw her tear up , it absolutely broke me.

This is my 10 year old daughters favourite song right now, so grateful that Ren is here spitting truths, spreading awareness. Such an important voice for the youth today and for all of us.

I kinda had the opposite problem. I experienced far too much inappropriate attention from adults, and I constantly wished I could be ugly because of it. Eventually, any attention at all was bad. The only time I felt like myself was when I was performing (I was a dancer). Otherwise, I was pretty consumed with self-loathing. I'm getting better. I still have social anxiety, but I can tell myself that attention is sometimes good. It only took 20 years of mental work to get here. :p

It's another really important topic that Ren makes accessible to talk about safely. ❤

I have 9 daughters and 4 foster daughters, and it was tough. Magazines, TV shows other kids.. As a mother, it broke my heart. The good news is they chose to be themselves, not what others want.

The best thing that comes to mind when thinking about this Ren community. “Birds of a feather flock together”

One of the things that makes Ren so incredible and special is his not just his ability to write songs about something that we face every day that we log into any social media but to write from the perspective of and as the voice of all the girls and women who deal with this. He is a someone who looks at what’s happening around him, listens to his friends who are female and gives them and the topic a voice. Now as a mother of boys ( at 22 ,young men) I can say that this doesn’t exclude them from becoming dominos. The gym can become toxic if you become comparing yourself to others. It can lead to unhealthy eating habits and steroid use. IOW, HIS SONGS AND HIS MESSAGES TRULY TRANSCEND BOUNDARIES.❤

I appreciated this reaction a lot, you had some great insights and beautiful words to share. I have definitely felt 'not enough' and even now in my 30's I struggle with it. It is an eternal battle, especially in a world where, as Ren said in this song, inadequacy is force fed straight into our eyes every day. It has become such a 'norm' in our society to compare oneself to others rather than cherishing or celebrating the things that make us unique, that it becomes ingrained - especially in my experience as a woman - to view having self confidence as being egotistical and negative. Since you asked people to share some stories, here is one of mine. This isn't exactly about not feeling enough, but it is part of why I have had such a struggle over feeling guilty for having confidence, which resulted in never feeling good enough. I was about 14 or 15 and by that point I had already been singing and performing on stage off and on for about 9-10 years (I started singing in front of crowds at 5) and I was having a casual conversation with a man at a festival. He asked me what I did and I told him I was a singer and musician. He asked me "Are you any good?" I thought about it a moment and said, "Well, I've worked pretty hard at it and I've had a pretty positive response from the crowds I've played for, so I would say yeah, I am." He proceeded to laugh at me and mock me with his friends (He and all of them were probably in their 30's or older) and said, "Oh, look at you go! Ya hear that? She's good!" I have never responded with "Yes, I am good at what I do." since and I ended up becoming almost pathologically incapable of accepting a compliment genuinely over time or having any sense of self love and self worth. I am now 33 and finally learning how to say "I'm a good singer and I am worthy of love." again, largely due to Ren's music getting me back in touch with MY music and my voice. Thank you for this reaction, this is one of my favorite Ren songs and I really love seeing how music can move and unite people. It really is like magic in my opinion!

I was 13 years old. I was strong, fast, and tall for my age. 14 years old and six months later I lost 40 pounds. Was in constant pain. Doctors told me I was just faking it. That I should see a therapist for anorexia. 8 months later I was fighting for my life and was dust with Crohn’s Disease. I was no longer a top athlete. I thought no one could love a guy who was 5’8”, 98 pounds, and who leaked feces all day long. 20 years and three major surgeries later I’m married to and awesome wife and two fantastic little kids. My thoughts that I wasn’t good enough was all in my head. Beaten down by my body, doctors, kids in school, etc hasn’t held me back. Rather I feel like I’m just starting to live at 34. Maybe I’ll write a song about…”Hi Jeff”?

I have daughters and sons and I think the best way to keep kids self esteem up is to be honest about commercialism, disordered eating, and toxic pop culture trends. It’s an ongoing conversation for both boys and girls.

My daughter just turned 14 and is her 2 day in high school and my husband literally had to have a conversation with her on the way home because she literally says she thinks we feel like she’s a problem!!😮 like what!! No one ever said that to her!! She said “I can’t explain it … I just feel like everything is my fault and I can’t fix it. I don’t want to feel this way I just do” my husband said “you need to tell yourself!! Out Loud !!! I AM ENOUGH I AM STRONG I BELIEVE IN MYSELF AND I AM THE SOLUTION NOT THE PROBLEM! He said they drove around talking for an hour ❤ she told me this morning that he really said some things to her that helped and that makes my heart happy! He is not her biological father but he is the only one who ever acted like a real father to her❤ we try so hard to break the cycles in our families but man depression/ anxiety/ adhd/ autism since the 90’s till now seriously the views on these things have come a long way so we are all re-learning how to be humans again

❤ eating disorders are the worst, it's like an addiction in the way it behaves yet you can not get away from it. I have never been pretty or petite. To tall, to strong.. Finding a guy taller than me took a lot of time. (Single again though) Now I am trying to work on myself so I can have a healthy relationship with someone no matter if it fits any conventional concept. It's not just the girls, but yes; girls are particularly susceptible to social media images and peer pressure about how we're all 'supposed' to look - to be.. It's not only unrealistic - it's toxic. We REALLY NEED this kind of content and education embedded in curriculum in ALL schools, { from primary to secondary and up}. We need - as a community - to teach our kids about how to approach and use social media. How to develop critical analytic skills - perspective. To view what is being presented through a broader and multi-faceted 'Lens'. To be able to pick and discard what is healthy, useful. Not just superficially 'popular'. NOT to be just passive unselective unfiltered 'sponges'. The developing brain doesn't have this capacity. It's very literal, concrete thinking. We need to TEACH this, else our most precious resource; our kids, will KEEP dropping off the insecurity / self loathing cliff, Like Dominoes...

I cant speak on being a daughter mom but its the same for boys. Not comparing. My son has been bullied to believe hes ugly (after being offered modeling contracts for crying out loud) so now he watches videos and commercials religiously to find a miracle product that will "fix" what he believes is wrong with him. I know i have a lot of years ahead battling the negative to show him whats golden about him before the damage is permanent. His father as well. He was bulimic by middle school. Its scary hell being a parent trying to make healthy mentally well adjusted humans. ❤

Always...never feel like im enough, even though my family is always there for me. I do have legitimate mental diseases though, so i know whete its coming from. That doesnt help when your way down in the jungle with it though

alright, time to be brutally honest: I don't think I've ever felt like I was enough. My parents are narcissists and so they would make me feel in the wrong all the time just so I would do whatever they wanted and in school I was bullied so much just because of a birth defect (missing three fingers on my left hand), at some point they would even run away screaming from me because they said if I touched them they would get the same thing. So yeah that all caused deep seated trauma that I still haven't been able to overcome

Your challenge is to raise boys that don't judge women solely by our looks , women are judged on looks when they don't help them do the job .its like no matter what intelligence or talent or skill women have they are judged on their looks . Somehow the message has to get through that people have worth beyond what we see.

Oh no… I was really just going to make a comment about how clever Ren is with his lyrics and how real he is. And then you paused after him saying how he felt ugly growing up and how his looks sometimes got him beating up and went “That’s what I was just thinking about. It not the simple. Many of feel isolated especially in comparison to others both men and women.that is his point. Obviously genetics play a part in who Society feels who beautiful. Another component which we have some control of is his fit we are. Not all of us are athletes and are burdened by illness and/or chronic conditions. How do we fit in? How are we going to fit in? And it all hit in adolescence through early twenties even through our whole life.

That's the only disconnect or frustration I have with this song (which may be my all-time ren favorite). This doesn't just apply to teens. Most 40+ year old women, myself included, widowed, or even divorced or just single, live with this same issue - except perhaps it's worse because time isn't on your side quite as much. There's a "what's wrong with her?" stigma at this age. So, you lose weight. You spend $3K at Sephora, you get the lashes and the nails and the Botox and and and... And the worst part is, the people that notice you for only that, don't notice you for what really makes you amazing. And you will only attract what you put out in the universe. If it's not real, then the people you attract won't be either. So just be you. And know that that is enough. You're amazing. Trust me. Took me 50 years to figure that out.

Just because it's not focused on enough...eating disorders and negative self image is not something that you only need to worry about if you have a daughter. Please, I beg you...throw that mindset away...because the societal viewpoint that it's a female issue means that boys and men who find themselves struggling are even more reluctant to reach out for help...lest they be seen as being feminine on top of everything else they are dealing with.
