It’s about “the industry” , record companies & how they take advantage of artists pain & emotions. While they are pouring their hearts out in their songs , the companies only care if it makes them money. He feels he is being paraded around like a pet by his record company meanwhile he’s going through anguish & trauma

Korn is the genesis of Nu Metal. It was a fusion of Hip Hop elements, funk, and metal. The scat singing is a jazz thing, and beatboxing is beatboxing...he kinda does both at once. Nobody sounded like Korn when they came out. They blew our minds....metal was dying. Then Korn and Distrubed hit. It's about the music industry. ETA What has he been through? Keep listening! Jon wasn't shy about his past, and it's dark.

@@felixfungle-bung4688, well, this one is definitely their biggest hit by a good margin, so it was no surprise that this is the one he would start with, as is most reactors' introduction to Korn too. Yoo BP, So stoked you are dipping into this, already a follower of most of your videos and you would probably be surprised at how much of your current audience are Korn fans. The genre is Nu Metal which Korn was one of the first pioneers, it is a blend of 90's Hip Hop and Metal. This song hits harder if you think about it through the lense of a band who feels trapped by the music industry and is just being a puppet for profit. The 'Ya'll wanna Single' music video lays it out perfectly. If you read many books, Brian Welch is one of the bands guitarist and has a great book called 'Save Me From Myself' where he talks about the early days of the band and eventually leaving for a few years after finding Christ. As said by others, the Twisted Transistor music video is awesome. Korn has always crossed over and worked with great rap and hip hop artists. They have a mix with DFB called 'Coming Undone Wit It's that goes hard and even had an album chopped and screwed by Michael 5000 Watts. Keep having fun brosoph, love the vibes from a class of 2000 kid.

It's funny how you don't realize what music others have never heard simply because they gravitated to a different genre growing up. I watched a Knox reaction to Smells Like Teen Spirit and couldn't believe he'd never heard it. Turns out he had, just didn't know it, but still; here we are 30 years later and we are still being introduced to and blown away by "new" music just by being open to something new and different than our own go-to. This brought a huge smile to my face. I'm right around your age (probably a year or two older) and when I graduated from HS, Korn was really starting to break out especially with the Mtv exposure. I had a good friend who looks oddly similar to you other than his skin color is much lighter than yours. So this kid was NOT into any rock/metal music. He was into rap, drum and bass and big into DJ's like Q-bert, DJ Shadow, Cut Chemist, ISP, X-Ecutioners, ect, ect. Anyhow, he was driving us to a rave and on the way there I put this Korn cd in and went to this song. Within seconds he wasn't having it! "Get this shit off my radio, I'm not gonna listen to this trash" But I was able to convince him to let the song roll and I'll take it out after it ends. He shook his head in disgust but let it play. A few seconds later he actually lowered the volume but it kept playing. But once it got to that spot in the song, he got the same "what the F is this sh*t" look on his face that you had in this video. And immediately his head started moving and the song infected his entire body in the exact same way it did to you. Literally the exact same reaction with the fist, air drumming and putting his hands over his ears even tho he wasnt wearing headphones lol. I'm not gonna pretend that he turned into a huge Korn fan after hearing this song but over the next couple years he voluntarily joined a group of us 3 or 4 times when we went to see Korn live. He never bought any Korn albums and never asked to listen to them when we'd be driving around. But this song right here triggered something inside of him. He remains a rap/turntablist fan to this day and the only time he ever veered off his hip hop (and D&B) course was to let loose at a few Korn concerts. And for a kid who knew absolutely NONE of their songs, you'd never know he wasn't a fan by watching the energy he'd release and the way he got wrapped up in the experience at the Korn concerts. Sorry for rambling on, but seeing your reaction to hearing this for the first time set off some 25 year old memories that I hadn't thought about for about 25 years! And your resemblance to my friend is actually kinda creepy! 😆 Great video BP! I will hit the sub button as soon as I hit the comment button.....

The breakdown - or beatbox part - seen live is something to be experienced.

I was a Korn fan growing up. But also 90s rap to Limp Bizkit (they were local to me and pushed by Korn actually) but this music along with Manson and others in the genre were instrumental in my childhood and delaing with certain issues i grew up with. Great reaction.

Really enjoyed watching the evolution of you discovering the magic here he does just let go and it's so freeing and liberating for kids who grew up not being able to do that

I remember so vividly when this song came out - I was 10 years old and I used to go to my friend's house after school and we'd watch this MV on MTV, and it quickly became one of my favorite songs at the time. Still really love it to this day and it opened my eyes to the world of rock music (I also was a hip hop fan at the time). What a classic.

"Daddy" is a hell of a ride if you're looking for something heavy- Song was recorded in one take, and the vocalist (song is a story from his childhood) told the rest of the band not to stop playing/recording no matter what happened. It's the most raw, gut wrenching song I've ever heard. Gotta check it out yourself.
