Codfish totally baited him with his first smooth, laid back round. Didnt give bataco anything he could counter with, then codfish countered bataco before just demolishing him.

I don't know, I agree that Cod won the battle but it was almost entirely because of his second set. Cod didn't show much in that first set which caused him to go down a round for no reason.

The song you couldn't remember the name of (codfish's first round song) is Do I Wanna know - arctic monkeys, a song from their 2013 AM album and their most popular song. Codfish made the cover you hear in this video in 2017 I believe.

Rahzel had been featured at events like this i think. Maybe not a big one but i'm pretty sure he's been around. Even Micheal Winslow came to one.

8:12 American Beatbox did a thing where they brought Doug e Fresh to one of their events. It's viewed as Razhel and Doug e Fresh are seen as the fathers of beatbox or anyone from that period. The ultimate legends. Except now it's like the modern age of beatbox that came back up in the 2010's with Skiller, Reeps One, Krnfx, Zede, Pe4enkata, Alem, and more. A lot of the beatboxers now were inspired by those guys or old videos of beatbox so it's like 2 completely different eras. It was such a big cut from the 90's to the 2010's that beatbox became a whole new audience.

Codfish's first round probably cost him some points because it was very similar technique-wise. Another reason is because during 2018, beatbox battle was slowly transitioning back into valuing sound as well not just complicated techniques to score points, but was still not all the way there. That's why Bataco had some people vote for him

Judging beatboxers gets confusing. There’s a lot of categories to score such as technique variety, timing, and crowd reaction. Bataco lost to a split decision because he had 2 good rounds with variety compared to codfish’s 1 great round which swayed one of the judges. Some things that can sway votes are if you finish too early or too late. Making the round exactly 1:30 is very important If you have a great counter, it can score lots of points Cleanness also scores more points such as codfish’s throat bass and basics.

Beatboxers pay homage to the OG's in the form of what that is called. The foundation of beatbox is what they created. Boots n Cats. Drum kick and beat. That is the fundamentals of beatbox and the OG's are respected because that is baked into alot of beatbox and loop. So many use and practice a specific type of drum kit

with Rahzel, he recently did a showcase in new york. with the 50th anniversary of hiphop, beatbox house did a big event in new york, in the middle of that main street thing, where they had a small battle and had showcases from rahzel and a few others. they're definitely treated like og's here

Rahzel and is considered an OG legend. So is Joseph Poolpo, a guy who entered a talent show in France i believe and basicly has the first viral beatboxing video ever (first one i watched atleast)). If you watch beatboxing content where they do more talking and less beatboxing (challenges, reactions, etc), you may hear them mentioned.

1 thing reactors newer to beatbox all need to know is the progression year to year in beatbox and loopstation is insane, so u can't compare rounds from battles that were in different years to others from another year really. Skill and technique level up so much each year by GBB its mind blowing. They have also had some rules changes in recent years to loop. They can now have more devices that weren't previously allowed before.

Codfish, Napom, and Mr.Wobbles got me into beatboxing i seen the Mr.W beatbox while uber driving videos then went down a rabbit hole and napom/codfish had my favorite sounds i just love bass king inertia is a honorable mention though spam listened to "dont fuck with me by inirtia" SPOILER- watching these battles thousands of times over and over i appreciate when someone genuinely hasn't seen it before and doesn't know codfish is about to wreck this guy xD
