Nice. The second guy (the one you liked most) is Fliptrix. These guys have actually been around for quite a while under their solo aliases. Fliptrix was one of the last signings of Lowlife Records (a legendary boombap UK Hip-Hop label from the early noughties). After Lowlife folded (without releasing Fliptrixes album) he asked Jehst (a legendary UK MC who was also releasing music on Lowlife) if he could put his album out on Jehst's label (YNR), but Jehst advised him to start his own label. That's how High Focus came about. The thing I like most about High Focus is that it is still relevant, and has it's roots in the UK head-nod scene. That's my era of UK hip-hop, but it sadly doesn't get the respect it deserves from the modern scene. It's almost like it didn't exist, but it was totally seminal in the evolution of UK hip-hop from New Jack American wannabes into artists who were representing themselves, in their own accents. There were a handful of labels and artists that all cross collaborated back then. This was just before the death of CDs and the beginning of internet streaming. Hip-Hop heads used to have to go to the record shop and buy this music. I have stacks of UK hip-hop CDs from that time.
This is an elite round up of the scene. HighFocus is easily the best UK platform since SBTV. Quality over quantity. Although I think they're way past their golden era.
Well said, dude. Lowlife was awesome and kick-started the underground scene we have today. Blah records, Potent Funk, YNR, High Focus... All doing amazing things thanks to Lowlife.
The owls are good man, you should try Assassination. Real Smooth is good FT Ocean Wisdom. You can't go wrong with the owls, don't think I've heard a bad track. Not like before is worth reacting to, think it was one of their first songs to drop.
The order of rappers - Leaf Dog, Fliptrix, BVA, Verb T. They're all fucking incredible rappers who also rap solo. They all got very solid albums. Leaf Dog is up there with the best UK producers ever tbh, he normally produces all The Four Owls beats. Premo gave them this beat because he fucks with Leaf Dog's shit heavyy. HighFocus have had quite a few legendary MCs on their channel collabing with UK artists tbh
Have to disagree, Leaf dog is the far superior producer and rapper. His flow is on a different level. Don't get me wrong i fuck with illinformed too big both are legends in the UK underground rap scene for their own reasons.
Illinformed is definitely the most consistent producer. I'd struggle to think of a single beat that doesn't hit. The number of beats he's made is absolutely nuts.
"After hate, all that's left is pain, so best think twice about yester-day We say yes today, not tomorrow. Cause the aim is to set the pace, not to follow" Verb T (4th Verse) is my favourite by far. His solo stuff with Illinformed (Leaf Dogs brother) is amazing
U gotta react to assassination by the four owls. One of my favourite music videos of all time, course it helps that the track itself is an absolute banger.
Don't know if you've been put on to em yet but all the artists on blah records are worth checking out. Check Lee Scott, Black Josh & the rest of the cult of the dammed crew
Loving your reactions. As a rap and flow purist, I respect your knowledge and passion for the game. A jam I really liked featuring the Four Owls is a track called Real Smooth with Ocean Wisdom…..the NY Boom Bap feel is hard with this track and beat. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KlLv3MihJRA.html
Nooo I think 'use' is smarter and more generalised. Choose is literally referring to the lyric writing process yknow? But guess you are supposed to critic
I agree it’s more generalized but he’s making an active critique of his writing process but ends it with a passive word. It’s just the two words say different things linguistically to me. Regardless he was cooking with the rhymes. Bless for the comment and viewing the video. 🫡
@@Jurnalist_ He's a producer/rapper. The first guy rapping. He's basically tight with all the old heads in America. Insane producer tbh, does all The Four Owls beats and much more. He's even got a song with Conway ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CbaI_jkpHgw.html&ab_channel=HighFocusTV
