Has anyone here really broken down who Chip is to Kso? One of the youngest Grime MCs in the early 2000s, was rapping from 14 years old. Went on underground(pirate radio) for a couple years. Then linked up with Wiley for an epic freestyle when he was about 16. It was a set with him and another kid called Ice Kid. Two of the best young MCs in the grime scene and was on Tim Westwood BBC Radio show. Chip then had a couple classic mixtapes before his first album I AM Chipmunk. This got criticised for a few commercial tracks (going with the label direction). The album still has some good tracks that were overlooked due to the commercial nature of the other ones (which people still bring up, even though no one in British rap/grime was making money at that time so going the commercial route was pretty much the only option). He then shifted from the commercial sound and went the rap route and made the album Transition which had a hit with a young Chris Brown. It also had Keri Hilson, Mavado (Jamaican legend), Trey Songz and Wretch 32. Chip then signed for T.I and made the mixtape London Boy which had Meek Mill, T.I, Skepta, and Young Jeezy. It didn't really work out for him in America, as it was even harder then times to be a British Rapper and break through. Came back to the UK. Had an issue with another artist called Tinie Tempah. Bugzy got involved for clout (credit to him, as it launched his career) and Chip was been pretty much known for his clashing ability ever since because of various beefs. At the end of the day he is a UK legend who was just early. Everything that UK guys are doing now Chip already was doing but just happened in the wrong era. Made commercial money. Made show money. And has had a 18 year plus career. Made it out of one of the toughest ends (hoods) in Totthenham and is still relevant.
Not sure many of the American reactors get that track. There's a lot to break down and most of the bars seem to fly over their heads. Edit for saying breakfast instead of break down 😂
Light work!! 😂 Honestly, don't drop the beef before Light Work. The context to those first two sends are huge. The first Chip "send" to Bugzy wasn't a send really. It was hitting 6 MCs at once after Bugzy just jumped in on the Tinie/Chip beef by going at Chip in his Fire in the Booth to ride that wave. Chip's The End was just that, his way of bowing out. Correct me if I'm wrong but his bro went to jail or something, and there was something else going on, so he bowed out. Came back with a vengeance with Light Work though. You have to give him his due and at least react to it 😂

Trust me don’t judge too quickly, the first 2 sends by chip to bugsy and the rest were the worst. My favourite out of all the sends is for sure 96 bars of revenge, hopefully you do the full saga.
I have always said don’t get why people go so mad over chip but as a person from the uk this is one of the only chip songs I like because in my opinion he does come with the bar’s
How I try to explain chip to newcomers, he is like JID where he skips between being on time with the beat to flowing just before or behind the beat and elegantly just surfing all over the beat

The beef shit is tired to me. Imo you should give Chip the last word with "Light Work" but then move onto "Notorious" the Chip and Bugzy Collab. The best thing about the beef is you'll be able to fully appreciate Notorious in context. Not to take anything away from Chip but I'm way more of a Bugzy fan and personally there are so many more old Bugzy freestyles ("elite sessions" for one) and tracks (too many to name but I'd love to see you react to "San Andreas Mentality". Also Bugzy's recent daily Duppy from earlier this year.

@@jlucie 😂😂😂 I just had a feeling! He was pretty much running off the Scru playbook. I nearly feel he was completely subjective as a result. It's a pity. Although I don't think some get Chip. His Plugged in with Fumez is immense but those bars are hard to catch.
