just to set the record straight, Hanna is Rabea’s girlfriend (the one who played the solo) and if you watch Leo’s cover of Pink’s “Cover Me in Sunshine” his daughter Mikela sings it with him and honestly, she KILLS it!!
Leo has done in excess of 270 metal covers (including some Disney classics) and the number keeps growing...His band is also AMAZING ...he's my goto on my dark days...always brings me round and reminds me how to smile
Leo is an absolute beast. Ive been listing to him for years, back when he had 10 cover albums.... he now has some 40+ cover albums on spotify.. the man plays all instruments and sings, minus those that he has as a guest, and then on top of that he edits all of the videos himself in his studio which is featured in the videos as well. amazing talent you cant pick a bad cover by Leo
When I first discovered Leo, my favorite game to play would be to put his spotify playlist on shuffle while driving and time myself to see how long it would take to guess the original. All of his covers are better than the originals. His cover of Ed Sheeran's "Bad Habits" is 🔥🔥🔥
Loved the reaction but you should have listened to the rest of the outro.... it was absolute fire up to the end, and has actually become a song they play live on tour.
She is not his daughter. She is a collaborator. His daughter is much younger and blonde, but she is in some videos. You guys skipped the best part! Also check out his This Is America Gambino cover!
My favorite song! I'm thoroughly enjoying how much FUN they're having with it! Fun fact: when Weezer released their cover or this one, Toto responded by playing "Hash Pipe",live at ACL, introducing it by remarking how "We were smoking hash when these guys were in diapers", then SHREDDING it a way that only practiced old musicians with years of practice & heroic amounts of drugs can, and it was GLORIOUS. 10/10 HIGHLY recommend. Pun completely intended. Have a great day, Boyzzzzzzz!!
Dance Monkey. Sultans of Swing. Listen to your Heart. What is Love? Black Hole Sun. House of the Rising Sun. And always watch his outros, they're always original musical bits.
Looks up Will Ramos and Chris Liepe, they go over how to get a basic growl going and how Will does it safely. Its a must watch, also Will Ramos is a frontman for Lorna Shore. A band idk if you are ready for yet. xD
Hey Mama here. You guys are my kids age... frog leap studios Leo is amazing. The covers are mind blowing. Never miss a outtro so much fun!!! Omg his version of Hello by Adele... Eye of the tiger, Blackbird. Not to say the quality of every video!!!!! Cheers
It's not about strengthening vocal cords to be able to endure screaming. It's about learning the proper technique to avoid damage to the vocal cords all together.
This is a long video, but it explores the science of the sounds metal singers make. You may find it interesting The Science Behind Vocal Distortion: Will Ramos of Lorna Shore ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JkBV8GoPWXY.htmlsi=JBIBaOpGkcxv5ZNu
Leo is always *great value* for metalized covers of big songs. Oh yes, you better believe there's a market for this kind of thing when it's done with this level of quality!! He recruited Rabea to be his guitarist for LeapFrog's live touring. Hannah here is Rabea's other half as it were. She's a quality vocalist in her own right. Rabea Massaad is an *outstanding* musician. I listen to his (instrumental) band Toska on the regular. He's English, but of Lebanese stock I seem to remember. ;)
My first listen to Leo was Funky Cold Medina. I was hooked. His interpretation of Dire Straits Sultans of Swing is amazing. Dance Monkey is definitely an improvement on the original.
Highly recommend u never skip the outro's of Leo. You also cut this(one of his best outro ever) at the best moment! :( Anyways great reaction as always. Leo its such a legend, fucking god, he has some severe talent.
I'd really like to see your reaction to Jonathan Young doing a metal cover of "Be prepared" from The Lion King the more current one because he updated it. He does tons of covers and whole albums of Disney rock/metal covers.
You can train your vocals to get the rasp or growls. As long as you do it correctly, warm up, and stop when it hurts you can do anything. I have been making odd noises with my voice for years... im 37 now and have no issues!
If you enact distortion, be it fry or growl or gutturals, using your true folds, you will end up with problems because they are designed for the speed of collision. What you have to do is learn how to enact distortion with your false folds. You also have to learn how to safely and effectively create and use breath pressure. A lot of people who do it wrong think it is actually screaming and they fail to realise how attuned the microphones are that harsh metal vocalists use. You don't need a lot of sound projection or pressure when you are using a microphone. It's the same with beatboxing, you don't need to project a lot of sound, in fact there are beat boxing techniques that are entirely internal but you can hear them because of the way the microphone picks up the vibration.
I love Leo and am so happy y'all started in on him, but I'd love to see you guys check out Lamb of God too if you wanna see some good examples of those crazy guttural vocals
There is a healthy and proper way to do growl vocals without damaging your vocal chords. You want to see some crazy stuff check out Jinjer and their song Pisces
I remember I went and saw Attila ( you guys should DEFINITELY react to them, maybe their new single or Middle Fingers Up) and they kept playing this song during the intermissions between bands and the whole metal head ass crowd was singing it together lol
The one with his Daughter was “Sunshine”. I got them confused when I commented on your other post. Sorry. Someone corrected me there and I acknowledged the mistake. I just remembered him and his daughter facing each other but I had the wrong song. Leo has done a few with his daughter. Check out Sunshine his daughter is much younger than Hannah who appears in this. Leo has a lot of albums and several of just kids song covers. His Let It Go from Frozen is the best cover of that song.
Have you boys done any beatbox reactions? That would be another good rabbit hole to go down. D-lows inward bass vs liproll is a good video to show how each sound is used!
Want rap covers? He's got ya covered, old school and more current. 2Pac - California Love Beastie Boys - Fight For Your Right To Party Beastie Boys - Intergalactic Beastie Boys - Sabotage DMX - X Gon' Give It To Ya Jay Z - 99 Problems Lil Nas X - MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name) Lil Nas X - Old Town Road (feat. Not sure if you've done any spoken word, but i just listened to Red Lion Poetry - The Villain , and its excellent, small youtube channel, maybe worth a look.
I'm not a super fan, I apologize. But, dude I love your reactions. I never watch your reactions unless I have seen the original content. I feel that more respectful. Your shits nice. And, I love your progression of freestyle for the months I've been watching. Thank you for the great content!!
OK, so Hannah is Rabea's partner, and a fantastic musician in her own right. Rabea is a British guitarist, and opened Reading Festival with Stormzy. You're welcome. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-x7Ix1rFuHjE.html
😂 Hannah isn’t his daughter he sets the record straight in the outro of dance monkey. His daughter is in the pink cover and running around in dance monkey! Probably the most talented female to guest with him is Mary Spender, she’s an equal or better guitarist to rabea but sings to!
If you want to react to some more Grunting songs, I can recommend: JINJER - Pisces. Ow and never ever use your vocal cords!!! The sound is made in a different way. But better find some voice coach, to explain it. 👍
That was a good cover. I don’t know what metal you guys have been exposed to and liked but it’s usually an acquired taste mainly with the vocals and something one _should_ probably ease into. Metal covers of pop songs is a good introduction. I know you guys reacted to Linkin Park so maybe you guys already like them. Other bands besides Linkin Park for a good metal introduction specially for hiphop heads are Disturbed, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Rage Against The Machine and Deftones. Then stage two metal I’d introduce some hair metal like RATT or Dokken, then Metallica and then after Metallica you can start sampling the heavier stuff like Slipknot and maybe Pantera. That’s my two cents
Why did you cut the outro short? I hope you listened to the rest on your own time because you missed some masterful playing and even some funny shenanigans.
There is a healthy and an unhealthy way to sing like this. Leo has been doing this for years without any symptoms. Im pretty certain he is doing the healthy version.
You don't do growls the right way if you are sore after. Try doing it with exhale and let the false cords do the work. Way you tried it was way too heavy on trying to scream it, and you had super tight neck which in singer perspective is the big NO NO
