Old guy here, my father was in the first World War 1914/18, in 1917 he was posted to the Russian front, he would never talk about it, and on Memorial day my Mum would try and encourage him to put his suit and medals on and join in the parades, his answer was, I don´t need that to remember.

Hi Mcjibbin. Check out a film from 1969; ' Fraulein Doktor' starring Kenneth More and Suzy Kendell. The final battle scene feartures the Germans using poison gas. Mosy horrific thing I've seen in any war movie.

As a Sabaton fan I found out about this story and promissed myself to see it because it's in Poland where I live. At last I visited Osowiec Fortress last month. It's impressive. I've seen all the places from the photos presented in this video and many more. The guide there mentioned about the Sabaton songs: Attack of The Dead Men and 40 :1. The kpt Raginis' grave and the bunkers are in the area 20 or 30 km away. The second song is about the battle of Wizna in 1939 Sep. If you haven't seen it yet I recommend you both versions:official music video and from the concert Woodstock, Poland 2012 :)

George Carlin once gave a great lecture on how to use language to lessen the horrors of war. In Germany they were called war tremors

There is a British horror movie called "Outpost" (2008). It's about a group of British mercenaries who are hired to scope out an old military bunker. Sounds easy doesn't it? But what the group discovers is that the Germans used the bunker to experiment on then execute their own troops- so they can come back as Nazi ghosts! killing anyone & everyone and win the war. I mean, how can you fight or kill a ghost? You can't; they're invincible and unstoppable... and still at the bunker :) Really good movie, highly recommended but this video made me instantly remember that disturbing movie :)

8:20 yep, the great question. The thing is that the Russian Imperial HQ underestimated their abilities to crush German and Austria-Hungarian armies quickly, as it was planned at 1914 year: it was successful offence in Austria-Hungarian positions, making them to retreat, but the thing didn't work well with the German army, where Russian army was stopped. At the beginning of the 1915 year Russian Staff suddenly noticed, the ammunition resources were collapsed as it was counted before the war and one needed badly to start resuply Russian army with guns, charges and bullets, that were not enough for the army, moreover, when also in 1915 year Paul Hindenburg - a talented German commander, came to the Eastern front. He quickly destroyed main Russian Army in Tannenberg battle and quickly repealed it from the Western Prussia, two Russian armies were there quickly encircled and destroyed (one of the Russian commanders - Rennenkamph couldn't help to save the neighbour army, and the second commander Samsonov shot himself in order not to get to be a prisoner). So the lack of ammunition and the quick destroyment of the 2 Russian armies in East Prussia made Russian army to retreat while to be regrouped and to be prepared. This was known in Russian books (the whole 1915 year) due to this as "a great retreat".

I'm not Polish but I don't think you'd have to worry about mosquitoes in Poland in March, which seems to be when the attack started to kick up a notch again. Likely no mosquitoes in April either, I'd say. Getting closer to May and summer you probably start getting issues in a noticable number. In general, in Europe, our tiny vampires don't have diseases. They're just everyone's least favourite non-supernatural vampire that needs a beating. Lol That Sabaton song is great btw. On a serious note though. In regards to the soldiers fleeing at the sight of the gassed Russians, considering it was 1914, they didn't have our technology as far as media and special effects goes. Frankenstein's Monster and other early horror novels weren't even that old by this point. We've had decades of refining special effects - both the physical as in prostethics and makeup, as well as the digital. But also decades to get used to seeing something and knowing "oh, that's not real". To those soldiers, those Russians were nightmare fuel never before seen come alive, so I'm not surprised they ran. We've become pretty numb. I hope it doesn't come back to bite us at some point in the future.

If you want the watch the video just go and watch it on the original channel. This is reaction channel, his comments are the whole point of this video. If he doesn't stop and comment, then it's just stealing and reposting someone else's content

He does tend to pause A LOT, and sometimes doesn't even make a coherent point at times, too. Sometimes, he tends to babble and go off on a tangent or totally misses the point completely in his vids.
