The reason our police don't need to carry guns is because our public are not allowed to carry guns. Criminals tend to shoot other criminals (not a problem). The cops with the big guns are mainly there because of terrorists threats, but will react to any firearm incident. Look at it this way, since 2009 the US has had 290 school shootings. In the UK we've had '0' school shootings. I hope that explains it dude. ✌️♥️🇬🇧

The US had more school shootings than that just in 2022. Up to November they had 611 mass shootings and it is only going to be the second worst year. I guess 9/11 will always own first. If that is counted as shootings.

Australia drive on the same side as England. We are the normal one’s. Melbourne Police had no guns until some criminals who were mad at the Police shot some of them. I am from a New South Wales Police family. My brother, sister and her husband were Police. You may never shoot to would, you can only shoot to kill and they are issued with hollow point bullets to make sure they die. The only reason you can shoot is if your life is threatened. Then you are guilty until proven innocent. They count your bullets and if one is missing you had better have a really great reason. I don’t know about the guys in my family but I do know my sister retired without ever shooting her gun. She talked to people with respect and she was often out of uniform because she left her gun in the safe. She had to prove she got more done without a gun that with one and she did. If we don’t have guns then they don’t need them.

@@karenstrong8887 the hollow point bullet is use by a lot of police its designed to stay in the body rather than go through and hit someone else . After a poilce shooting You hear alot of people say why didnt they shot them in the arm / leg . Well if they've ever fired a pistol they'll realise they are not that accurate

People may have a drink after work especially as a release from stressful work or to socialise with work colleagues or friends after work. In hot weather some people have a drink at lunchtime. Many people drink because they are on holiday when visiting London.

London's reputation for rain is massively exaggerated. It actually has lower rainfall than places such as Paris, New York and Sydney. What we do have is changeable weather. Thus having an entire month with no rain is rare and you may get 3 different types of weather in 1 day! Unless you're very unlucky, you'll find plenty of sunshine in the summer months. Just be prepared for the occasional shower, or rainy day, too. :)

Just remember when you look at the prices you don't need to add anything to them, so naturally they will seem a bit higher. No taxes to add, they are included; no tips to add, staff are paid properly by management. Also make sure you eat/shop where the locals do and not in the tourist traps. Yes London is large so don't try and do too much in one day. Also the famous London Underground map is not to scale so if you are only going a short distance it might be just as quick to walk or take a bus as sometimes you have to walk quite a distance from the entrance to where you board the train. Just remember always stand on the right on the escalators.

First comment: he is right about London being expensive if you do the 'tourist things' - like any main city is whether that's in America, France, Cairo or wherever. Second comment: the major museums are FREE. Third comment: most drivers (and especially cabbies) know that tourists don't look the right way when crossing the roads in London - and hardly anyone ends up in hospital let alone dies! Most people don't drive in London because public transport is so good and cheaper; buses, the underground or even walking is safer and more enjoyable than trying to drive in London. Fourth comment: The UK (and especially England) is multi-cultural and you will find it easier to source Chinese, Indian, Thai, Greek, American foods, etc etc etc than 'quintessential British afternoon tea' - and pubs selling food is nationwide not just in London; as a pub is a friendly gathering place and totally different to what you call a Bar. Fifth comment: British weather is surprisingly mild. Okay, it's not Florida and it does sometimes rain in the Summer months but we have hot days often too. We have no extremes of weather so no 'tornado season' or hurricanes etc and apart from the most northern parts of the country we rarely get more than a few inches of snow in Winter - and it never stays longer than a couple of days. Sixth and Seventh comments: most people who pop into a pub drink one pint or soft drinks or even coffee - and there is a vast range of alcohol free wine and beer on offer. Tourists are more surprised at how we are not 'buttoned-up' and know how you enjoy life. He is so wrong about the amount of drink consumed which is why Brits holiday in Spain and drink-driving is a serious offence; but he was looking for drinking places and these would be frequented by people who walk home or get a cab! People dine out in pubs, have after-work get togethers if they are single in pubs just to chat - although married folk go home! The very fact that pubs close at 11pm and Clubs won't let you in if you are not sober tells you we don't drink alcohol to extremes. Nightclubs are for dancing! Eighth comment: he is right and this is why tourists come to London - not for the drinking till 3 in the morning but for 1,000 years of history before your eyes and everything within easy reach. Plus the street markets and people from every country in the world living there and the acres of parks to stroll through. Ninth comment: London is only 'surprisingly big' to an American who assumes we are just a tiny Island. We have some amazing diversity across London; check out vlogs on Notting Hill Carnival for starters! Tenth comment: sadly due to the threat of terrorism we do have Armed Response Police Officers and you will catch your first glimpse of an armed Policeman (or Women) on arrival at the airport. But the Police on the street don't carry guns or need them; this in turn means most criminals don't feel the need to go armed either. We Brits stop a Policeman on the street to ask for directions! I love this and strangely it makes me feel safer. Just to put it into perspective, 2022 saw 37,040 gun deaths in the USA and only 162 for the year in all of the UK (that's England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland combined). The picture of the food at the end is another misconception about typical British food 😂😂. It's a picture of 'a full English Breakfast' which is mostly eaten by tourists thinking they are eating what we eat or Brits holidaying for a few days in London - because today most Brits either skip eating breakfast totally because they are in a hurry or they have cereal or muesli with their morning cup of tea or coffee. The 'full English' goes back to the days when married women stayed home to tend the house and kids so had time to cook a big fry-up and when nobody snacked between meals - so three good meals a day (big breakfast, filling lunch, and big dinner) only. This was also before so many takeaways and convenience foods! Have a Happy 2023 young man. 🇬🇧❤🇺🇸

I have relatives from N/America & Canada visit us in London quite often, and from the very 1st day I met them I have installed Keep Away from the tourist traps and shown them that by walking just 5mns down the road, your find food/drink/entertainment at reasonable costs. Also what is always overlooked is, London has been a multicultural trading city even before the Roman's invaded and enslaved us for hundreds of years and social attitudes are nowhere near as horrid as I have personally witnessed in the USA. Great Britain was the only empire in history to ever openly abolish slavery & actively seek out it's destruction all over the planet. Women's Right to vote and equality was born & exported from this Island. And when all was lost across Europe to a Germanic fascist evil, this Island & it's empire stood alone for two years fighting against it. Whatever misconceptions you may have about Britain, it's track record on acceptance of displaced people is something we are proud of.

In WW2, Britain not only stood against Hitler’s evil war; Britain won the Battle of Britain and defeated Hitler in 1940 (with a little help from some the commonwealth, Canadians based here and some of the Polish Air Force who had managed to escape Hitler). So the next time you hear an American saying “You’d be speaking German now if it wasn’t for us” remind them that WE joined forces with THEM when they finally decided to fight. The invasion of Europe on D Day was in order to liberate the countries of mainland EUROPE. The UK has never been invaded since 1066.

The traditional English breakfast includes bacon (not crispy like yours), eggs, sausage, tomato, baked beans, and hash browns as shown, but should also have mushrooms and black pudding, buttered toast and brown sauce (not ketchup - many would disagree with me 😂). As a Londoner, I feel I should correct, or clarify, a couple of his points... London is expensive in the touristy areas, very expensive! However, get out of those areas, into the places where most Londoners live and it's actually no more expensive than any other part of the country. In fact, for quite a few things, it's actually cheaper than elsewhere in the UK. Public transport and food being the most obvious examples. There is 1 big exception and that housing. London has some of the most expensive real estate in the World, so buying or renting property is expensive, across the whole city. Not that this would affect you as a tourist. :) As for pubs closing at 11pm, most do but many stay open much later. More so in London than anywhere else in the country. You may also be surprised that some pubs open early in the morning, so you can have a beer with your breakfast. One thing to note is that pubs, bars and clubs are 3 very different things in the UK. Although most pubs close at 11 or 12 (and many don't, as explained earlier) there are plenty of late night bars, restaurants and clubs that stay open later. Often much later. The tradition here is to start off in a pub, in the afternoon or evening and then, if you are staying out, to move on to a club, or late night bar, restaurant or a late night pub. :)

The ‘machine gun armed cops’ (They are actually Carbines) are specialist firearms officers, who will be seen at potential Terrorist targets. So Airports, Railways, government offices. Diplomatic protection etc. There will also be mobile armed response units that will be sent to crimes as appropriate. Regular officers will have (if qualified) Tasers, batons, Pepper Spray. Neither the U.K. public or the U.K. Police are in favour of arming the majority of officers. And when Officers are armed, they will have been volunteers, with many years experience and undergone psychological evaluation & not some inexperienced kid fresh out of Police Academy. This in part reflects the different style of Policing, and the lower likelihood of encountering firearms in the line of duty.

There's one thing that I think needs pointing out. Lots of tourists go to see the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, which is a good idea. It takes place behind the railings, so the tourists can't get onto the Palace courtyard. The bands usually play during the changeover and when they march in or out. There are barriers in place lining the pavements (sidewalks) and the police are there to stop people hindering or getting in the way of the guards. All well and good. But there's another Changing of the Guard at Horseguards, where the space is much smaller, not only that, the troopers of the Household Cavalry who are on guard are often surrounded by tourists who want to get too close for a selfie or to touch the horses. Please do NOT touch the reins of the horses. This is beginning to get too much. There are police present who try to tell people not to get in the way of the guards, but some will always try. There are similar situations at the Tower of London, Saint James's Palace and at Windsor Castle where the guards have to march to various places. Please don't get in their way and please don't try aping or copying them. They are professional soldiers on guard duty, so leave them alone and let them get on with it.

The Weather! Let's get this misconception out of the way! I am a Londoner born and bred and growing up, lets say 12 to 25, I never wore a bigger or heavier jacket than a Levi Jacket, not for the cold or rain. After 25, I had an Army Jacket but that was because I used to go rough shooting, shotguns, for Pigeon, Duck, Rabbit. Yes, a Londoner had a Shotgun and not only that, I can ride & jump, Horses! I rode from 7 to 25 years old! I have entered into Show Jumping competions. East Kent Hounds are a great group of people! I have stood for 2 hours watching Football every Saturday afternoon and Monday or Wednesday night, till 10pm! In the cold! I have ridden motorbikes, 365 days of the year, for nigh on 20 years, from 5:30am till midnight, in nothing more than a Tee Shirt and a Leather Jacket and believe me, they are not warm! So, unless you Muricans are made of Jello, don't worry, you are not going to freeze in Siberia or disolve in the rain. By the way, I have never owned an umbrella, hat or a scarf, none of my male relatives have owned an unbrella, except Uncle Tim and we won't mention him! Woman have umbrellas but as far as I can make out, its because they have their hair done and don't want to ruin it and as you are all exceptional Baseball players, no doubt you will be bringing some of your apparel, at least a back to front hat, with you! It's the choob not toob, Tube! Every Friday I used to run to work, from South East London, the Elephant and Castle, to Stonbridge Park, North West London, 14 miles, in 2hrs 30 mins - 2hrs 40 mins! 04:50 to 07:30, what ever the weather! The guns. The normal beat cop in London does not need a gun. If guns are needed, they come out instantly and under tough controls. Firearms Police are highly trained and only get deployed when, for example someone tries to run into Parliament waving a gun. He was dead in thirty seconds, the last time this happened. When two guys went crazy with butcher knives in a London street, they were dead in about four minutes. The sub-machine guns can be seen at railway stations and other high-risk locations about once a week. It depends on the alert state.

Everyone visits London, and it’s a brilliant city, definitely worth it, but yes, very VERY costly!! There are so many cities in the UK worth visiting too though. Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham in England, Edinburgh (of course) Glasgow, Dundee, Aberdeen, Inverness in Scotland, Cardiff and Swansea in Wales, but also the smaller towns, such as Scotland and Wales in particular are unrivalled for sheer countryside beauty. London is ace, but defo doesn’t ‘represent’ the UK, it is its own special place. Btw, not all pubs shit at 11. They do in the city because there are lots of clubs and bars open later. Find a good country pub and they will be open til 1am, especially at the weekends

Kimberley is right but it’s also right to point out that London has a higher percentage of armed police than anywhere else because it’s at higher risk of a terrorist attack. Counter terrorism is a big part of their role but not all of it by any means. You see them escorting prison vans (if the defendant is facing or has a history of organised crime etc). The ordinary day to day police officer does not carry a firearm. The officers you see with a firearm (usually Glock 17’s or semi-automatic carbines) are called Authorised Firearm Officers or Specialist Firearm Officers. They rarely have to discharge their weapons in real life. Most police officers would decline AFO or SFO training when asked. We don’t need our regular bobbies to be armed with guns. Gun crime is a rare thing here. We are very lucky.

Regarding guns, only specific police have guns. the ARU (armed response unit) you generally find a handful of cops based at any poplice station will be firearms trained, in the same way only certain cops are dog handlers. Any crimes involving weapons (we have more knife crime that firearms) the ARU will turn up for that. but the general beat cops, carry an extendable batton (similar to a NY cops nightstick, but its an extendable metal rod) and they usually carry a taser and pepper spray.. Oh yeah its illegal for civilians to carry pepper spray, it too is classed as a weapon.

Police generally don't carry guns. There are armed units but they don't patrol the streets. They can get called out to armed incidents and if the terror alert is high you may see them in airports and train stations, otherwise you won't see police with guns. Gun crime is very low, especially when compared to the States and police training focuses heavily on de-escalation, so there's no real need for police to carry guns. Those that do have to go through extensive training and checks and their gun license is reviewed annually. Most police don't even carry tasers and you need several weeks of traing even to carry a taser. For firearms it's months of training and psychological assessment. One pretty astounding fact for you... On average, US police kill MORE people in 1 month, than UK police have killed in more than 2 decades! One final note, if you go to some of the touristy places in London, you may see some armed police, as they guard Parliament, major government buildings and the Royal residences.

Hi. Beware for drinks we use the Imperial Pints and Gallon. A US pint is 16 fluid oz. In the UK we have 20 fluid oz in a pint here. So one UK pint is 25% bigger than a US one. Oh, and drinking age here is 18 years old. One quirky law here is it’s illegal to be drunk in a pub. The landlord could be arrested if he serves a drunk more alcohol.

Yes, people will go for drink sometimes after work and a the end of he working week in particular. I worked in the West End and the City. In the City way back wine bars used to be open from 4.3opm but close around 8pm.. some years ago now.. In the West End the streets were not busy until around Thursday evening. so he is making out there is far more drinking that than really is. Outside of London many pubs are going out of business due to the Cost of Living Crisis.. lack of customers and its expensive to run heat and power in a public house and not affordable with less customers. It's a misconception that we don't have guns here, we do, but it's heavily regulated, police vet all gun owners, and it's usually sporting rifles and shotguns. Gun control works, and that's why I get so angry when I hear your ignorant politicians, especially when kids are dying!!! Some interesting figures. The rate of gun ownership is 3.3 per 100 people in the population in Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland) compared with the US rate of 101, thirty times higher. The annual rate of gun homicide per 100,000 of the population is currently 0.03 in Great Britain. This compares with 3.6 in the USA, a rate that is 120-fold greater. The total firearms death rate (including suicides and accidents as well) is 51 times higher in the US than in the UK. Some other figures are worth noting: In the US some two thirds of homicides involve a gun while in Great Britain the figure is approximately 5%. There were 5,800 handgun homicides in the US in 2013. In the same year in Great Britain - where handguns are prohibited - fewer than 20 murders involved a handgun.
