The invincible moose is because if you hit one with your car, the moose will most likely walk away but your car will be toast
@kenlowe-ca

I have seen the immediate aftermath of moose collisions with both cars and trucks. The moose has often made its way off the road before it dies. The vehicle usually does not, with fatalities for the car occupants. Many people don't realize that moose are so tall that when their legs are hit, the body is far enough up that it then crushes the car cabin.

What are you talking about? I'm Canadian (from Vancouver, BC), and the majority of my family is from the US, so I've spent a lot of time growing up between here and California, and what they call geese in the US look more like something between a duck and a swan, much lighter in color, more graceful. Canadian geese, well, you're right about them being aggressive, though that's a mild way of putting it. I remember my (American) mom trying to get me to feed the geese up here as a tiny tot, and I swear they were about to take my arm off as I held out some seeds for them! (By the way, for parents here in Canada, DON'T traumatize your children by sacrificing them to those fuckers!) They are like our military - you may think of them as your average, polite Canadian, but they will fuck you up!! But they are also a very different species, which you can see just from how they look, which is my main point. Completely different animals.

As an Ontarian, I completely agree with you. We should ALL take the time to just sit outside in the sunshine & enjoy the warming rays (which get a bad reputation, but are NECESSARY for human health & survival - we're actually not that different from plants in this regard) & look at the nature around us & listen to their sounds - instead of focusing solely on our phones & barely lifting our heads. Nature is beautiful, often calming & health-giving - to help us get through another day (without wanting to kill somebody.....?) Okay, I think I have just hit on something. The reason Americans have SO much more violence - their MUCH diminished natural settings. Canadians newly found (as - okay, I won't make the joke as some of our Atlantic Canadians might not appreciate it.) BUT - Canadians who have been obsessed with the internet, INCLUDING on phones as they walk through the outdoors & not bother to glimpse nature even while walking - have ALSO NOW increased level of aggressive behaviour & violence. I am thinking that there IS a connection.

As a Canadian I gotta say, it's definitely just as weird to most of us that Americans generally don't say sorry when the mildly f*cked something up. It wierds us out when an American messes something up and just walks away silently. Like I was in a Timmies not to long ago and a guy dropped a full ice cap on the ground in front of the cash register, and he didn't say sorry or oops or anything, he just turned around and left without acknowledging that he did that. That's guaranteed an American. And everyone in line was just dumbfounded . Like what tf just happened?

Alberta separatism isn't a new thing. Back in the 1980s there was a political party called the Western Canada Concept, and their big bad enemy was Pierre Trudeau and the federal Liberals. At that time Manitoba was included in this, but over time it seems more like just Saskatchewan and Alberta. As for BC, there are some there who want to break away from Canada and join something they call "Cascadia", and some BC folk seem to think that only they are in Western Canada. Apparently they never heard about the general concept that everything west of the Ontario/Manitoba border is Western Canada, and that the Rockies are shared with Alberta.
@sanityimpaired
@sanityimpaired Месяц назад
As a fellow Albertan, there's a lot of comedy in Albertan separatists. They genuinely think a resource based economy in a landlocked nation, which just pissed off the nation that is on three of it's four borders, will continue to thrive. Most of their complaints about Ottawa are our own bloody fault. We always vote the same way, which tells every political party they can ignore us because they either automatically get our vote, or can never earn our vote. The equalization formula they love to complain about had its last major revision when we had an Albertan Prime Minister, and when our previous premier, who campaigned partly on the unfairness of that formula, was a cabinet minister. The go to complaint about the federal government screwing Albertans was done by Albertan politicians that we not only voted in, but continued to vote for after the fact. And, despite all this information being readily available, Albertans consistently keep voting in bad faith politicians who screw them over, then blame Ottawa for the consequences of that. It's utterly baffling.

Quebecer here. I feel you, Albertans! For example: Québec consumes a lot of oil, just as any other province or state in North America. Yet, we like to think of ourselves are more eco-conscious, so we'll block your pipelines from passing through our territory, while at the same time expecting you to keep funding our common federal services with the money you made from exploiting your oil resources! Yep. 😐

In amateur hockey, I think there is an actual mercy point at which the game ends. In professional hockey, I think, typically there is some kind of unofficial mercy. But in international or Olympic competition, your ratings are based on how many goals scored, so you are required to go for the maximum number of goals, regardless of how badly you are trouncing your opponent. As much as the players feel bad for the other team, they are required to keep trying to score.

Technically, Quebec is fairly anti-gun - and yeah there are Albertan separatists. If you know what the weather is truly like in Manitoba - you would look forward to a day when its not acting up. Whether your car be brand new or a beater, If you hit a moose with it, neither you or the moose will come out of it unscathed. It really is true. Canadians say sorry all the time. Say hi, look people in the eye, smile, say hi and have a great day/ weekend… We keep door open and check to see if someone is nearby before closing a door, naturally help someone in some regard. Common to let cars in traffic and then wave “thanks” Acts or gestures of kindness. I don’t think I’m judgmental per se but it’s videos like these that make me realize how different 🇨🇦 is and in that regard how proud I am. Sadly, my thought when I see someone let a door close behind them without looking back is “they are not from Canada” or if they do not smile and say hi back. Which is not fair to people from other countries at all plus it could be anyone for any reason. But I think overall, as a culture, it is how we were raised and in turn how we act. I disagree with those who say we are not nice. As noted, I do not think I’m judging someone for not saying hi back, it’s just very different. Just got back from Minneapolis. OMG. You guys drive fast and WAY above speed limit. For my 🇨🇦 friends it was 3 lanes and all three were driving 135-150 km/h Lol. Went to see a hockey game and the team I was cheering for lost. 😢

The thing about Canadian geese is 3 fold. 1: their bills are serrated, and they have a strong bite force. They can sever a finger if you're unlucky, but you WILL lose skin in any bite. 2: their wings are incredibly strong, and a good hit with a wing can break an arm. 3: they are both territorial AND bipolar! So, one minute you're feeding it bread, the next it's tearing chunks out of your leg and arm while beating you with its wings! AND.... the fucker's WILL chase you hundreds of meters if they get it in their heads to do so! The only good thing is... they are damn tasty!! The thing about canadian geese is that every year on Canada day all canadians work together to perform a grand ritual that moves all our pointless agression into the geese.

The invincible moose is legit 😅 There’s a saying here : If it’s a deer, go straight If it’s a moose, crash on the side of the road Because those creatures are BIG BIG, your car will NOT survive, so might as well crash in the ravine or something

The immediate reaction to someone telling you to stop saying sorry IS to say sorry since you were obviously annoying them by saying sorry. This is actually funny because it is true!

Tyler, I am Canadian and am guilty of saying sorry for no reason from time to time, but it does get on your nerves from time to time when some people say sorry just because they are partially blocking your path in a store. I sometimes respond with " that's OK" or " no need to say sorry".

Sorry in Canada is extending an olive branch to the other individual in the face of a slight or wrong action. It is a way to keep the interaction at a mutually respectful level, and can even lead to meeting a new friend as no offence is conveyed between the folks. It's our way of proactively saying "You are a fair and respectful person". This greases the wheels of any social interaction. Americans tend to look at it in terms of dominance and right and wrong. "You better say sorry, you were wrong!" If you said that to a Canadian, we would immediately shift gears and change our communication style. We would be speaking 2 different languages. You wouldn't hear sorry much after that. We can communicate like Americans if need be, it just doesn't come naturally for us.

Hello! French Canadian here. It's only my opinion, but I think that saying "sorry" as a Canadian doesn't have much weight to it, but only because saying "I apologize" has a lot more weight to it in the eyes of most people. Also, I might be biased since I live in Montreal, but generally, Quebecers are patient with people that at least try to speak French. Might not be the case everywhere, but it is from my experience. :)

That hockey game was at the Olympics, and 8 minutes is more than enough time for a country to make up the goals... if they get lucky or really determined. Normally Sweden is a worthy opponent when it comes to Olympic hockey.

Hi Tyler, 6.11 - Canada goose have _very_ hard bones in the leading edges of their wings. An adult Canada Goose is easily strong enough to break a grown man's arm or lower leg. Recently saw a video of an eagle attacking a Canada goose as it was sitting on the water. The goose wasn't going to go anywhere, especially as lunch and proceeded to beat the sh!t out of the eagle for about 45 seconds at which time the eagle decided to depart rather abruptly. Yes, they're cute and yes, they can break your arm. Fortunately they're fairly polite and sociable (of course). Just ... don't piss them off. If they hiss at you with their heads lowered it is time to leave. Haul ass, they're fast on the ground too. 7.20 - Bit of Canadiana re moose: When the railroad was first being laid across the country, on one occasion a moose took offense about a locomotive. Said moose charged the steam locomotive and derailed it completely. In one shot. A ton of pissed-off moose can do a lot of damage but again, they are pretty much laissez-faire unless it's breeding season in which case all bets are off. Oh, and the guy falling down the stairs with a drink in his hand is from a multi-season Canadian cable TV series called "Trailer Park Boys" which was shot in numerous trailer parks down east. They got thrown out of several because kind of extreme. Watch an episode if you can because they're completely effin psycho and funny. NSFW or young children.

you should check out the damage moose do to vehicles. on the stripper part you dont just fling it at them, at least a decade or so ago when i last went, you toss them towards the stage. I've also heard "horror" stories about people heating the coins up and tossing them to the stripper and end up burning them.
