When I was a little kid my Dad got transferred to Buffalo from California for work. He took one look at Buffalo and Niagara Falls, New York and decided to move us to the Canadian side. He then commuted to Buffalo for 25 more years just so we could grow up as Canadians. My brother and I thank him every time we think of it.

I am REALLY angry by this "Karen" business. REALLY ANGRY! Tell me, what is the MALE EQUIVALENT to a "Karen?" This is THE MOST WOMEN HATING THING I have seen IN DECADES! - even STUPIDLY by OTHER WOMEN! We had FINALLY gotten to a place where women were respected as legitimate, equals & NOW THIS DEGENERATION. DON'T even TRY to say that NO MEN ever act bossy, because MEN INVENTED THAT BEHAVIOUR! It used to always be men yelling & demanding & carrying on in public & usually for completely UNCALLED for reasons ie. "MY time is valuable. I don't have time to wait in line with all of these other people" - is just 1 example I can personally give (out of many more.) I believe when women are being ignored by service people (when it IS her turn) or when her issues are not being seen to because she is a woman easily pushed around - & she DOES stand up for herself (as she SHOULD) - she gets laughed at & ridiculed as being a "Karen". Am I NOT right on this? This is DESPICABLE behaviour by ANYONE who uses it!!!

@Thundarr100
@Thundarr100 3 месяца назад
You need to Stop the moose from licking the salt off for two reasons. One, if they become too used to licking the salt off of the cars they will walk right out into oncoming traffic to get to the salt with little regard for their own safety. This will cause several vehicular accidents, which will cause much physical damage to the cars and drivers/passengers, yet surprisingly little damage to the moose themselves. The other reason is sometimes the temperature drops dramatically, and the warm wet tongue coming in contact with the freezing cold chrome bumper will end up sticking (much like the little boy in the movie A Christmas Story).

We were filling those clear plastic water cubes from a tap in a campground on the Banff - Jasper Parkway. There was a sign saying the water was from the Columbia Icefields which were formed during the ice age 200,000 years ago. A huge one of those highway bus style RVs with American plates pulled up, the guy driving started getting out his water hose, read the sign, put his hose away, looked at me and said, "Do you think water that old is safe?". I said, "Just melted ice and maybe a bit of rock dust." He then noticed the little made in Canada sticker with a red maple leaf and started going on about why everything having red maple leafs on them was weird. My thoughts about most water probably being formed billions of years ago were overlaid with visions of American towns and cities where every house was flying an American Flag. I'll have to get a few American hundreds, comments about Monopoly money and who the hell is Sir Robert L Borden, would be more likely than the desired effect. It isn't so much Americans not knowing, it is the that's stupid attitude. Personally I know way too much about the British Empire and way too little about the developing countries but I try to be interested, polite and positive.

Actually there is a MAZE of PLASTIC TUBING GOING FROM TREE, to TREE, and it is collected into a giant VAT; boiled, and graded by COLOUR, and bottled or canned, depending on which company buys it. Some of the "VERMONT" Maple Syrup you have in the US, is from -- Quebec. MAPLE SYRUP is one of the most important industries in Canada. CANADA exports 323.9 MILLION GALLONS (583 MILLION GALLONS in 2021) on average every year. There are 8,600 Maple Syrup Businesses in Canada at last Count. (New York State "exports" 312,000 gallons of Maple Syrup every Year, Vermont "exports" 900,000 gallons of Maple Syrup every year.) Ask someone from Quebec about the value of a "MAPLE LEAF" 🍁

You are right, Tyler. That last Canadian flag sign saying "We are all in this together, Now you can...." WAS a sign used (for a bit of humour & truth during the pandemic shutdowns) - not by many, but it happened.

Yes the sine about the moose licking the car is because here in Canada we put salt on the roads to melt ice , so because the ice melt you get water mixed with salt so when you drive our cars get covered of salt and the moose like salt , just as we put salt block to attract moose and deer’s at hunting season.

I do not know what will happen to the population; now that we do not have "Eatons", or "Simpsons" to order your babies from -- of course in my dad's day they just got "them" from "the CABBAGE PATCH" ... seriously for YEARS CANADIAN BABIES HAVE BEEN COVERED BY OUR SUPER MEDICAL Insurance for ALL CITIZENS. Before that there was a charge for everything -- even to see a Doctor, etc. (My younger brother, was born in 1960, one of the last to be PAID for by the parents: $65.00 -- including the mother's week-long hospital stay in those days). In Canada we don't need to say "CANADIAN BACON" -- we just call it "BACON". In the States bordering the Canadian Border, sometimes have JOINT CELEBRATIONS. Detroit, Michigan -- Windsor, Ontario; for instance share the Detroit River by having a barge in the middle, and a firm from Italy, designs the fireworks to represent both Countries -- always ENDING with the "WAR OF 1812 OVERTURE" We do not "let on" that it OFFENDS US, but Quebec apparently has it's "own" National Day. The rest of us CELEBRATE CANADA DAY ON JULY 1st, We are "close" to completing a NEW Bridge from Windsor to Detroit -- currently the busiest INTERNATIONAL Trade Crossing in the World. 🍁

I'm super mega Canadian, I'm Metis born in Manitoba, and my mom swears Louis Riel is a direct ancestor. However, all my friends in highschool were Asian (taiwan, pakistan, singapore, vietnam, Japan, China), and I was literally the only one that didn't give a toss about hockey lol. Maple syrup is good though... though I also had birch syrup once and really liked it, and wish I could FIND the darn stuff more often. I dunno if I like it more or not, I only tried it once and couldn't get my hands on it for comparison again.

stereotypes=just funny--I always have a ton of fun with american tourists about that--we laugh a lot together. But I admit that I indeed like hockey & maple syrup. I'm not born in a syrup bucket on a tree, but I did spend my weekends at grandpa's maple grove, helping him make maple syrup, back in the mid-1980's. Aboot july 1st & 4th, I used to celebrate both with friends--they wold come to my place in Montreal to celebrate Canada day, then 3 days later, I visited them in Vermont for july 4th--nice to have close birthdays for our 2 countries.

Tyler, you seem to have completely missed WHAT the sign was on. It's stuck in a TOTALED CAR. Left there as a warning to others about what can happen to yours if you let it get too close . Moose are beautiful, and slow moving most of the time. They're pretty chill creatures. But POWERFUL. And HEAVY. So best not to let it get close enough to lick your car, because then you've got to wait for it to leave of its own accord. And that means it will lick every bit of salt off your car, which is bad for them, because , with the salt comes all sorts of pollutants which can poison them. The one pictured there is either a doe or else a buck that has shed its antlers. Now THAT's a sight to behold. The comic is saying Karens NOT welcome. Stay home. You did understand the Canadian cat. I haven't even seen the black toonie, but I want one. God rest the Queen.

When I lived in Cranbrook BC, it was under one hour drive to the Kingsgate border (Idaho) Crossing in 2007. You just needed a Canadian identification card or drivers license in order to get into the US so it really hasn’t been all that long since driving over the border with the passport became mandatory, my guess is 15 years only. 😊
