As a 38 year old british man just some friendly advice. If anyone from any country outside of the UK wants to come and visit the UK sure go ahead and have a good time but if this is your attitude dont bother coming.

I'm Australian, love love loved my time in Britain and Europe. I hope I get to come back some time. I don't understand why people like this would ever leave their own country with this attitude. What's the point if you don't want to engage with other cultures, and learn about the world? I can fairly confidently say most Australians won't want you here with that sort of attitude either. Some of us would like it just for the entertainment, but we won't be laughing with you*. *You as in the type of people like the man filming, not you, you.

As a Brit I’m so glad to hear that, you’d be more than welcome back in the future :) This may just be me but I feel like the English and Australians are like cousins, I absolutely love Aussies and unlike some Americans especially any like the one in this video, it seems like Brits and Aussies have a similar humour style that is quite laid back and sarcastic, plus we have similar attitudes to swearing. I saw a video of an American saying to his mother the word “hell” and she literally started screaming and collapsing. A lot of adult Americans won’t even say words that were spoken in the first Harry Potter film lmao 😂

@@DK_1983You mean sexist psychology. Are you suggesting that it is normal to be rude to women?
@rexex345
@rexex345 2 месяца назад
Not necessarily, but kinda yes, at a very base level humans perceive women as less intimidating and more approachable, coupled with differing testosterone levels and basic sexual dimorphism, generally guys will be less likely to back down to women exerting authority than men. Note this is how a person will react subconsciously, and is relative, which is why it's still very easy for the female cops to control themselves 2 as even if they aren't as intimidated, there is still body and spoken language being used by the policewomen that made it pretty clear they'd lay these 2 out if they're pushed to. After all that it really just comes down to order of meeting as the female officers engaged first their job is to minimise escalation while containing people, even if that means wasting time until bigger levels of force can arrive, has the situation been reversed, the exact same sequence of events would have happened, but the levels of intensity would be very different. Remember, these 2 caused a scene long enough to get arrested, in this situation you really, REALLY need to push their patience to do that.

Our Police de-escalate situations. It’s soft Policing. These days perhaps too soft. They don’t have a heavy response. Unless, it turns violent. He only responds to a male Officer. I had the same thing with an american couple that rented the holiday home next to my house 2 years ago. He decided that 8am in the morning on a sunday was a great time to have a techno party. Sunday here is a rest day, which means most shops are closed and ppl are not allowed to make a lot of noise. So no lawnmowers, or drills or anything, and of course no loud music. I informed him of this, asked him to turn the music down, which he refused. By then a few other ppl from my street had already gathered angrily. So we decided to call the cops. The cops came, he refused to turn down his music, refused to show an ID (which you are legaly obliged to do in Belgium, whenever a cop asks you). He kept his nonsense up for about 20 minutes until they decided to just arrest him for refusing to identify himself. He spent the rest of the day in the police office, his gf did go over there fairly fast to bring his ID. I heard lateron from the neighborhood cop that the guy had been such a twat that they didn't care about the ID anymore and were just going to detain him as long as possible. He got a fine for "disturbing the peace", "disturbing the peace on a sunday", "making noise over the allowed noise limit" (which is 100dB her on any day) and "refusal to ID himself". Unfortunately he didn't tell me how much, but i'm pretty sure it would have been a few 1000 euro. The next morning as i was getting ready to go to work, he came over to my driveway and started screaming that it was all my fault and that I should pay his fines... I just told him that he was now trespassing and harassing me, and that I'd gladly call the police again if he wanted to spend another day in the slammer. They didn't make another sound for the next few days that they stayed there, which - in summer - was a blessing to me, as the house is often full of youngsters having their first holiday without parents (you can imagine what that means i guess). In short, if you aren't in america, american laws mean zip.

So Belgium enforces a religious law by keeping Sunday holy?
@capusvacans
@capusvacans 2 месяца назад
@@xymonau2468 It's origins were indeed religious. And also not. During the industrial revolution the church was used as a means to pacify the ppl, but this could only be done if ppl were able to go to church and hear about how they should be happy that they were poor and miserable so as to try and keep the rich in power. So the sunday was declared a day off, and eventually allowing the ppl a day of rest. Also if you know about the working conditions back then, it was also the only way to not have ppl just die all over the place, while also ensuring that ppl wouldn't just start murdering the bosses.) So it was a double whammy for those in power, the church got to keep indoctrinating it's flock, and the rich were able to keep their heads. Then came the socialist revolutions and uprisings, and ppl gained rights and could no longer be used as some form of serf. But as it was a firmly catholic country, the sunday kept being a free day where workers were free. Lateron the saturday was added as a "free day", where ppl can just do whatever, that's where the concept of the weekend came from. Nowadays, it has nothing to do with religion at all. The only thing about the sunday is that it's pretty much "sacred" (in a non religious way) to everyone here. The sunday is now mostly a day where family comes together, which is possible because most shops/businesses are closed. (also, if you do have to work on a sunday you get double pay). We don't mess around with this, virtualy nobody cares about religion anymore over here, but if you dare touch our sunday we will fight you. And nobody wants a family dinner where your neighbours are banging on the walls, playing loud music etc. So you could say that the sunday rest day laws also serve to keep the peace between neighbours. Also, what is so bad about a day in the week where you aren't constantly bombarded with noise? You should try it sometime, it's wonderful. TLDR: it has nothing to do with religion anymore. You'll know how little influence religion has over here if you hear the reaction of ppl whenever some religious dude wants to have a law enacted that is clearly religious. Ppl over here have given their lives in order to have a society where religion doesn't have a say in public life. And yet we still respect our sunday, that should tell you all you need to know about how special a true rest day is. (If you want to have some more insight in this, you should watch the movie "Daens", it's an old one, but it's one of the most accurate depictions of the industrial revolution and explains where socialism came from. It is no accident that Marx wrote his communist manifesto while living in Belgium. Life was so terrible here for virtually anyone back then that it was bound to result in a complete rejection of the established order).

Recently a US citizen tried to bring a handgun into the UK on the basis that all Americans can have guns. Possession of an illegal firearm in the UK carries a minimum sentence of five years. I don't know the outcome of that case but I doubt he got away with a slap on the wrist. Additionally they were detained "As Witnesses". Yes, UK police can and do do this, if there's (for example in this scenario) an assault, and you are in the area, they will detain you so they can question you about it cause it's better to keep everyone in the area that might have seen it or been involved than possibly let something important slip away. Also worth noting, British version of Miranda rights states you have the "right to remain silent BUT, anything you don't say when questioned may reflect against you if later relied upon in court". You CAN keep your mouth shut, but its better to just get a lawyer and/or cooperate with any questions they have. Also also, if anyone is wondering, UK police body am footage is kept for 30 days minimum unless entered into evidence (therefore longer) and is subject to public access, they cannot refuse a request for it and it is even usually held by 3rd party oversight in raw form.

lol, pls tell me that your male colleague put on his "a-hole hat" when dealing with that clown. Don't get me wrong, i'm not a fan of the police at all as a long time ago the local cops kept harassing me for years, but that doesn't mean I didn't cooperate with their nonsense. Except for one night when on the way home from the pub a young cop, probably just 20 or sth like that came up to me, and i already knew the look on that face, was a bit drunk and really had had enough of constantly being stopped by these smurfs. So i just told him "don't even think about it" and kept walking, with him looking on in astonishment. That was the last time that any cop has ever approached me and that was about 20 years ago now. So you can see that they really were just doing it for funzies, or it wouldn't have stopped that suddenly. So i understand why some ppl are just fed up with the police, I wonder sometimes if the police realizes that by harassing ppl they also lose all respect from those ppl. And if sometimes they just do it in the hopes that their "target" will just snap and finally give them the right to actually go beyond the harassment. So yeah, maybe he was also one of the ppl who kept on getting bugged over and over because of the way he looks and finally had enough.

You cannot detain and hold someone for up to 12 hours without arrest in the USA. They can arrest you (with probable cause) and hold you for 48 hours without formally charging you. The only possible exception to this is homeland security and/or terrorism investigations where the Patriot act, etc. allows for detention without charges and no access to a lawyer. Brief Detention (Terry Stop): Police can detain you briefly if they have reasonable suspicion that you are involved in criminal activity. This type of stop, known as a Terry stop, is typically short, often just a few minutes, and is intended for investigative purposes. The police can question you and perform a limited search for weapons, but they generally cannot hold you for an extended period without escalating the situation to an arrest. Investigative Detention: If the police need more time to investigate, they might hold you for a longer period, but this still needs to be reasonable. This period usually should not exceed a few hours. The exact length of time can vary depending on the complexity of the investigation and local laws. Arrest and Booking: Once the police decide to arrest you, they must do so with probable cause. After an arrest, the police can hold you for a reasonable period to complete the booking process and potentially present you to a judge. In most jurisdictions, if you are arrested, you must be formally charged or released within 48 hours. This time frame includes weekends and holidays.

by 2:13 you can tell that leaving the scene of a crime is not a law recognised by this person, in the uk leaving the scene of a crime before questioning (normally to get witness testimony) is an offence, legally, if you refuse to accept the stay here and give us some help for 30 mins to a hour or spend 24 hours in a cell without charges till we get round to actually asking for your statement. If you are lucky after saying "i am american so i know" you will not be immediately deported 6:45 at that point, he has interrupted at every single point where the PC has tried to explain 3 or 4 times they have stopped them, and now theyre accusing them of refusing to explain the reasons. This point now is currently asking for them to be arrested for obstruction, that will end up with them being deported and possibly banned from the country for non cooperation with the law. Also, right at that moment, the only bathroom is in a crime scene, by this point thier description will have been passed on to someone to check out why they are acting nervous while being detained at a crime scene

That would meen a lot more problems for you, and a hell of a lot more paperwork for the officer... That's why they prefer to politely ASK you to stay, than to have you arrested... You need to go pee? Ask politely, and they might even let you pee some where, that in other surcumstaces would get you a fine (at least).... We had one down in Co Cork who kept asking the name of the sergeant time after time and trying to tell him that he was a private security office, our police are apparently run both by London and the FBI and US laws are paramount around the entire world, trumping all local laws in the process (he was driving without insurance, with fake number plates and the vehicle wasn't registered to him. Turns out he was also known to the gardai for unspecified reasons but we could guess. The guards were as patient as the London coppers though he did get his car towed. So this is the difference between US and anywhere else. Cops stay polite even when you indirectly call them racists. The guy gets the answer on all his questions, but just didn't like the answers. This is the American entitlement we know as Europeans. Most of us actually respect the police and when they stop us, we are not going to ask stupid questions and say they are not allowed to. When a policeman ask us to stop and hold on for a minute, we know that if we comply it doesn't take that long. The police is obviously investigating a crime and how this guy reacts is actually what a guilty person would do. You're not oblicated to give the police proof to convict you, but you have to stay put when they tell you to stop or hold on. We had a lot of crimes from people on mopeds, so police was stopping everyone on mopeds to put down the names with the license plates and make sure they know who is driving on them. When there was a crime and they have a license plate, they can link it to specific persons. It's a weak reason, but no one complains and sees themselves as a victim. They're glad to see the police investigating crimes. We are not scared of cops, we know they are the most reasonable people. With a lot of traffic tickets they just give a warning when the system shows you weren't stopped for that before. So before going to Europe, you should read your rights instead of just going to visit with that American attitude. Respect our cops like they respect you. Cops can actually lose their job for not following the strict guidelines and you will be compensated if they do something wrong.

99% of Americans are not like that, we don't hold it against the rest of you, I can't remember but I think either the camera guy or the other guy was arrested and charged with assault actuing ABH (actual bodily harm) but I think they got let go, someone please correct me if I'm wrong

Misogynistic git talking over the female officers, but listening to the men, then repeating the same question. ok, the men were ranked so it could have been a seniority thing, but I grt the vibe it wasn't.

I mean, if the law backs them up, the officers don't have to tell them what the crime is. They are being detained and that's that, this guy just wanted to pose as superior for his pseudo-education and dictate the laws of a country he isn't even a citizen of. He's lucky it was London police, many other places he'd get manhandled into the cop car and taught to stay in his lane and just listen to the police

Sadly all US tourists are classed like this, always have been because of the entitled way the few behave. Our laws are generally stop and search type, but yes they have the right to detain but generally wouldn’t unless it was very serious. Argumentative very argumentative which is a bad start.

There isn’t just one legal system in the UK, there’s three. One for England and Wales one for Scotland and one for Northern Ireland. The arrest and detention process varies between them as well as the court system. So there is no such thing as a British legal system.

Some Americans have the wrong idea that American law applies in any country. They don't understand they are in a different country, with different laws and customs.

I was once watch a video that said the British police in this video are being racist, no one in the video was being racist, it was an underage guy driving a car, with 4 others, someone in the car had a licence, but the car didn't belong to any of them, they said it belonged to the 16-year-old parents, and the police were very respectful, how is any of that racist

The WPC was being calm, and direct, the american was being pushy and entitled. I lived in the US, I would NEVER talk back to an officer like that. Respect the local LEO's and no harm will occur. The guy thinks he is soooooo clever, but to be honest, if it was me detaining the guy, he would already be in cuffs. The officer DOESNT know what the situation is, they have been told to detain anyone in the immediate vicinity. Honestly, fuck this guy.

I felt my braincells die while watching. There is *one* valid point: if you are in a situation where you are legally obliged to stay and you have to use the bathroom so bad you're about to pee/shit your pants, there has to be an option for you. However: the way this dude went about making that point has to be among the most unconstructive ways possible; it's a prime example how to *not* do it.

Years ago a young American graffiti artist went to Singapore thinking he’d do a bit of “Art” and because Singapore is not as libertarian as you may expect, this fool got a prison sentence and would be kicked out of the country on release. Just like the laws on trafficking of illegal substances can be lethal if caught

makes me wonder, if they did a body search what drugs would they have found since "well its legal in america" truth is, they were probably already on the call to thier supervisors if the level of the crime was worth the hassle of detaining an american for 24 hours

Publish lashing as well from memory and he thought that being a seppo he was immune from having to obey Singapore's laws, wasn't it keying a car or something as well. I recently saw another interview - allegedly the same bloke - and he was still as entitled now as then (must have been close on 40 years ago now, I was still in NZ when that happened) and ranting about the horrible racist violent Singaporean police. Though I've since read somewhere he has finally at least admitted he was an idiot to do it.

Don't know what it was but a crime is not a "delict", so it had to be pretty serious. But wow, the two lady cops where super nice and calm with no guns or anything even with their hands behind their back (I don't think police officers do that or are even allowed to do that in those kinds of situations in the us). And the guy is like "I know my rights"... well you don't unless you studied english law at the university. Call the US embassy if you think you are being brutalized or misstreated
